Avatar m tn I had several testing done including test testosterone. Low testosterone was the only thing they saw. As I said, I didn't take the prescription under Pharmacists advice & other reasons. Anyway it may not matter anymore. I found a new supplement that may work any way, that is a lot cheaper then then the old supplement that worked a few years ago.
Avatar n tn I have been using Vagifem for over a year and love it. No side effects for me or my husband. I have read a lot about it and it seems to be widely thought of as an effective remedy for vaginal dryness in a way that does not let the estrogen be absorbed by the body. I will continue to use it.
Avatar f tn There's no OTC Estrogen only Progesterone which can convert to estrogen in the body. Dr. John Lee wrote one of the first books on Progesterone which explains that. It takes longer to work than Rx HRT but soon you should find relief from menopausal symptoms. I just wrote a blog on hot flashes. Check it out for some natural remedies including the progesterone.... www.sunflowerhw.
Avatar f tn I have tried topical creams, prescription creams/ointments, hydroxyzine at bedtime to no avail. I have even tried anti depressants, to no avail as well. I have hypothyroidism and get my blood tested every three months, with no changes. It is destroying my quality of life. Can anyone help or suggest another course of treatment? I am at my wits end. Now the itching has spread to under my breasts and on my right side of the waist with a rash.
Avatar f tn herpes igm testing is greatly flawed and we don't recommend it being used. a + igm result for herpes doesn't really give you any answers at all. when did you last have any sexual contact? do you ahve a regular partner?
Avatar n tn Estrogen doesn't cause breast cancer but it does feed it. If estrogen was the cause of breast cancer more young women would be being diagnosed with it when their estrogen levels are at their highest. Most diagnosis are made in post menopausal woman. There is one theory of thought that it may be estrone that really feeds breast cancer. Estrone is what our fat cells produce after menopause. Estradiol is what our ovaries made in our 20's and 30's.
Avatar f tn the reason why I "jumped" to this conclusion was with my first everything was screwed up. Then I was pregnant. So yes jumping to this seemed the right conclusion. Also, no it's not with 72 hours and no I wouldn't take plan b. I not taking my poll regularly because I forget and I'm on a prescription that cancels it out... In my mind what's the point of taking something that's not doing its job.
Avatar n tn ve looked it up on the internet that no estrogen can cause insomnia and other problems like depression too. I have been sad and experiencing more anxiety just because I'm not getting sleep like I use to. I went to a neurologist who thinks I have obstructive sleep apnea. I don't think I do. I'm not overweight and I barely snore. I'm thinking of calling a different gynecologist to see if they can do some blood work and see if the real problem for my insomnia is no estrogen.
110491 tn?1274481937 After I have been feeling run down for months now they finally checked a few things and it was discovered that I have little or no testosterone (normal range 6-70, mine came back as <3, meaning 0,1, or 2, not measurable). My GP says that's probably why I feel so tired, unmotivated etc. Cortisol was also in the low range, as was estrogen, as expected. They did a vitamin B12 check that came back as excellent. He referred me to an endocrinologist.
Avatar f tn I've had my female organs removed one at a time with a LSH in 2006, left oopheractomy in 2007 and right oopheractomy just two months ago in 2014. I awoke from my last surgery with a patch on and have used it as directed since. I use to get hormonal headaches every other month or so and was able to successfully treat them with one or two prescription pain pills for headaches.
1074733 tn?1256231619 In 1995, I participated in a bioidentical hormone study at UT Tyler in Texas. My blood and saliva panel came back showing a very high level of estrogen, even though I have no uterus and only 1 ovary. They call this estrogen dominance. They prescribed estrogen cream which was compounded by a pharmacist. Over the past 10 years I have had numerous doctors tell me they thought I should be on HRT for symptoms I was having, and just because of the hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn Two more comments... If you are not experiencing menopausal symptoms, use plain natural progesterone and don't buy any creams or supplements that contain other ingredients for menopause like herbal equivalents of estrogen. The condition of low progesterone/normal estrogen levels is also called "estrogen dominance" so you'll be right back where you started if you use them. Avoid soy pills or soy milk, too, since soy can mimic estrogen.
Avatar n tn I am on Arimidex and blood tests indicate that it is working, as my estrogen levels are low. But a 24-hour urine test prescribed by an M.D. with a holistic practice showed a problem in one of my estrogen pathways, and recommended a broccoli seed extract with SGS (sulforaphane glucosinolate). Might it enhance or interfere with Arimidex? My oncologist doesn't seem to know. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I was told that I could NOT take over the counter supplements for menopausal symptoms. They believe that my masses were estrogen receptive...that means no soy, no black cohash, etc as they all "mimic" estrogen.
Avatar f tn Since this itch comes before your periods only, this could be related to lowering of estrogen and higher progesterone. Please consult a gynecologist and try and assess this. It can also be due to a disturbance in normal vaginal bacteria just before periods. Lactobacillus preparations or estrogen creams may help. However, since vagina is a sensitive area, please do not try these without medical prescription. Take care!
Avatar n tn Prior to the surgery, I suffered with migraines and they were significantly reduced with the use of estrogen. Since stopping the estrogen, I have been getting severe frequent migraines. Should I go back on estrogen?
Avatar f tn My family doctor said he has never heard of this, and my gyno (which is the same doctor who prescribed her the estrogen) keeps saying ignore it. I went on my own with an old prescription of birth control pills and picked up a pack hoping it will work. I plan to take it today, however, if it does not work would one suggest picking up a OTC estrogen - if one exists? I'm in Canada. My friend says to try a new doctor, but I have been to many and another is just too much.
Avatar n tn s, I had a couple of long stretches with no period like you describe. I too was stressed at the time. It turned out that my hormones were out of whack. In my situation, I was producing too much estrogen. My thyroid was out of whack as well I had hypothyroidism. Often if someone is anxious or depressed (even minimally as it didn't really interfere with my life and I didn't seek medical treatmen for it, it was just a difficult time)--- the thyroid gets involved.
Avatar f tn My organs were removed and it put my life into a tailspin. A prescription for estrogen would likely help quite a bit. It has for me. Unfortunately, doctors may say you don't need estrogen but any time part of the reproductive system (uterus, ovary) is removed, it can cause a loss if hormones. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Avatar f tn I was on Estrogen only for many years as I have no ovaries due to a hysterectomy many years ago. However, I stopped the Estrogel (a plant based gel) about a month ago. It was time as, I had been taking it since I was 30 and I'm 47 now. It got to be risk factor versus benefit factor for me. Yes, I do believe that there is benefit for us women as far as the Estrogen goes. But, for me, I was on the Estrogen for all my treatments and I still didn't clear.
407961 tn?1202013647 They have me on prescription blood thinners now, instead of just asprin. I was told when it happened that i should not try to have kids. But I also cannot take birthcontrol and no doctor will tie my tubes because I am so young. Now I am pregnant, I dont know what to do. I am calling all of my doctors to try and find out if this is something that is possible or just too dangerous to try.
Avatar n tn There is one for prescription and one for non-prescription drugs. When you purchase medications always ask for the manufacturers hand-out and not the condensed version often provided by the individual drug stores. There are risks and benefits associated with all medications, and anti-fungal medications in particuliar are essentially poisons. There is no specific prohibition on using this medication over the age of sixty, except they have apparently not conducted tests on the elderly.
266539 tn?1281402152 There is a BC pill that is progesterone only, I don't know brands but I took it while I was breastfeeding because estrogen can affect milk supply. It has a slightly higher failure rate than the estrogen/progesterone pill, but is still highly effective if taken at the same time every day. Condoms are another option.
402156 tn?1201638074 thanks for the reply, yes im on a low dose of estrogen only, ive been taking it for three weeks now, maybe it just hasnt quite kicked in. It truelly has to be hormone related because this is not something i have ever experienced. Im really active and eat pretty good, I gueuss it just takes awhile.
