587083 tn?1327120262 Since menopause,I have consumed some natural product containing some kind of estrogen to control the night sweating, hot flashes.I drank milk made of soy,ate soy beans and tofu. Could this be the cause that my mammogram was abnormal?I have to have another mammogram and an ultrasound at the end of this month. am very worried and don't know what to think anymore.Maybe the natural things I ate, containing estrogen is the cause that I might have cancer?
Avatar f tn t take the sublingual, bioidentical progesterone he prescribed nor should I continue to eat protein bars and other sources of soy protein which provide a natural bioidentical estrogen. She said there is an increased cancer risk associated with both progesterone and estrogen supplementation. Since I have high risk HPV (cancer causing) I should not take these supplements. Does anybody know anything about the increased cancer risk associated with bioidentical hormone enhancement???
Avatar n tn I would go back and tell her that if she cant give you .25mcg daily then you will find another Doctor. Natural therapies are all good and well but dont work the same way as a T4 med does. They dont absorb into the blood stream as they should and end up in the gut. Although there are some here who disagree with this. I am open to any critisism in regards to natural iodine. Although personally I wouldnt touch it as you could very well go Hyper on it.
1192727 tn?1282735542 It is found in cold water fatty fish and fish oil supplements, along with eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). Vegetarian sources of DHA come from seaweed. DHA is essential for the proper functioning of our brains as adults, and for the development of our nervous system and visual abilities during the first 6 months of life. In addition, omega-3 fatty acids are part of a healthy diet that helps lower risk of heart disease.
Avatar n tn LH was 2.5, FSH was 6- pending Test/DHEA. What does this mean?
Avatar f tn I have also read soy has phytoestrogen (estrogenic activity) so it will add to the already elevated levels of estrogen in the body of a PCOS sufferer, so it should be avoided. On the contrary some articles say that soy is good as it has estrogenic activity and would block the excess estrogen receptors in PCOS). Please advice. 2. Can I consume milk and egg white?
Avatar f tn Sweet potatoes, and Soy are sources of natural estrogen. There is alot going on about fake estrogens in register receipts... and pesicides on non organic vegetables that imitate estrogens. Peppers Tomatos, blueberries and strawberries, are some that I remember. I am not sure that is the best route, though. Black Cohosh I have heard is good for menopause. I am sure you could google it, since you seem to have internet access.
Avatar n tn I think hot flushes should be given to men! ;-P I suffered greatly with hot flushes but, am going through some kind of imbalance somewhere, somehow and am seeking out help from a gynecologist for it. I've also had the weight gain...right around the mid-section. Grrrrrr. I think that most of us will say that the hot flushes and the weight gain are pretty annoying to say the least. Estrogen can cause weight gain but, can help with the hot flushes some.
1112541 tn?1286311213 Charliegirl: So glad to hear that your doctor is open to alternative remedies. There are so many that are very closed-minded, and refuse to even consider alternatives to HRT or other prescription meds. Please keep us updated! SassyLassie: You are so right about taking progestins to "oppose" any estrogens that we are taking - especially for those of us who haven't had a hysterectomy.
Avatar n tn I know some women who swear by wild yam cream. Maybe you could check a book on natural remedies -- I think I did see one specifically about natural remedies for menopause symptoms a while back. It kind of was tough to read (who wants to believe these things are really going to happen?) but it seems like I remember it talked about foods and supplements and stuff.
200220 tn?1361951554 Dr. Lupus: My holistic doctor gave me natural progesterone cream to use to help me stabilize my moods and pick up the free estrogen that is floating in my body. My question to you is it dangerous to use with taking levothyroxine 37.5 with having hashimotor disease. My doctor is an MD also and seem to be very knowledgeable about the thyroid along with helping me with celiac disease. What is your experience with this natural product.
Avatar f tn Should I get treated for the estrogen or should they level out once my thyroid is fixed? I am taking natural supplements for my adrenals and might want to try HC but I have heard not so good stories about it. Are there natural adrenal meds or how should I go abouts treating it? I finally feel abit better but I don't want to move cause moving equals hot flashes/sweating.
Avatar n tn I have just been prescribed vaginal estrogen cream to relieve some symptoms that I've had. (irriatated feeling, cramps, pinching feeling) Does anyone have any feedback on this cream? Kind of concerned as breast cancer runs in my family and not sure about using this cream. Has anyone tried anything more natural?
Avatar f tn I had a natural FET today and the blood work from this morning showed my estrogen level was 106. My doctor told me to tAke four estrogen patches every other day plus 2mg estradiol tablet every day to increase my estrogen. He said it should be 300. Esteogen is counter indicated for pregnancy- causes birth defects in children- says right on the label to not take whole pregnant! Does anyone know what their estrogen level was on day of transfer and did doctor recommend taking estrogen?
Avatar n tn I am 49 years old and just going through menopause. My new doctor recommended me to have a salivary test to test hormone levels/cortisol/dhea. The results show what she called estrogen deficiency and high cortisol levels. progestrone level is okay. She said that I could try "natural" estrogen cream but I have tried bioidentical progestrone cream before and this brought on bleeding again just after 3 days of use. I also experienced giddiness with it use.
973741 tn?1342342773 From what I have read from various sources, yes. And it is thought to be caused by the decline in estrogen. Here's one article - https://www.heart.org/en/health-topics/consumer-healthcare/what-is-cardiovascular-disease/menopause-and-heart-disease.
1904182 tn?1363253974 Spirulina contains natural beta-carotene, which can be converted into vitamin A, and is also an antioxidant, necessary for fighting an excess of free radicals in your body. Avatar n tn t want to take estrogen is because i am a DES baby as it is. meaning my mom took estrogen (thought to be safe and prevent miscarriage) but it caused all sorts of problems in the daughters born to mothers who took it. it says right on the bottle not to take estrace when pregnant. if i don't need it, i don't want to take it. what they think is "safe" today, they may realize is not tomorrow.
Avatar f tn If you are concerned, you should see your doctor for evaluation and he/she can order an ultrasound, if appropriate. Also, just so you are aware, “natural” hormone replacement has the same risks of estrogen exposure as “clinical” HRT. Estrogen is estrogen, whether it is from soy or the lab. This is why we recommend that women with estrogen receptor positive breast cancer avoid HRT as well as soy and other “natural” estrogen products.
4517580 tn?1355778267 Ever since I could remember (I'm 25 and I got my first cycle at 12), I've never had regular period. Starting about August of last year, my period became regular. I could almost time when it would come. My last cycle was the end of October and I haven't started yet. I've taken two HPT and they both said negative. I've read blogs and other sources about PCOS and the only symptom I have is the irregular period.
Avatar f tn It has natural estrogen like effects. You might try natural sources of omega fatty acids for mood, like freshwater fish, such as salmon and tuna, walnuts and macadamia nuts, pumpkin seeds, and flaxseed. You might try flaxseed or if you aren't troubled by the fishy aftertaste, enteric coated fish oil capsules. Sam-E by naturemade is a helpful mood booster. Those hormonal changes can make it easy to put on the pounds.
393685 tn?1425812522 ( Then reviewing my tests he sees an estrogen dominance over progestrone - so I get to go on natural progestrone cream now. Another great............. haven't done much reading on this side of the story at all! and I smoke.......... so from what I read about progestrone cream - is it is like BC but opposite of estrogen. But blood clots from smoking can still form. Yeah - to quit cold turkey?? OK .......... sure.
Avatar n tn If your mother is willing, she may want to go to a competent psychiatrist to be evaluated to see what is wrong. Natural things that may or may not help your mother- soy milk (natural estrogen type action), sam-E (naturemade brand), which a psychiatrist told me is a natural seratonin pill, walnuts, macadamia nuts, flaxseed oil or fish oil capsules, and freshwater fish, such as salmon (sources of omega fatty acids which can help mood. I hope your mom gets the help she needs soon.
