Avatar f tn You may even want to consider a short style until at least 6 months postpartum, when estrogen levels return to normal and hair loss is minimized.
Avatar f tn Why would you be given estrogen with elevated estrogen? My reasons for weight gain/difficulty losing weight were severe insulin resistance and untreated hypothyroidism. My hip to waist ratio was 0.96 due to insulin resistance.
Avatar f tn Okay, I was diagnosed with hashimotos and have been also taking Prometrium for over a year. Doing really well on it. I also developed what appears to be a fibrocystic breast (just one) going to get a mammogram just to rule out anything bad, etc. Well, recently, I have lost some weight...suddenly the breast condition got worse, I started spotting day 9 of cycle after stopping period on day 7 and I am having headaches.
Avatar f tn t, appears you have many clear signs of estrogen dominance. I believe estrogen to progesterone should be 2:1 (according to more naturopath MDs) and that is what I strive for, but definitely get many of the symptoms you list above when my estrogen gets too high. Saw 3 traditional OBGYNs + 2 internists who were of no help to me and their primary solution was BCP then finally got relief from a preventative medicine MD.
Avatar f tn I know that the testosterone could be the culpret with hair loss, but the suddenness of the hair loss makes me question whether it is the cause. I have an appointment in a few weeks with my GYN to discuss my October lab work. I am in my late 50's and I don't think that many women in their 50's and 60's know how much better testosterone can make you feel - energy and sense of well being. I hope that I don't have to give it up.
Avatar f tn Estrogen deficiency is what occurs from loss of an ovary. And depression is common from premature estrogen deficiency. This study talks about it (copy and paste into your web browswer) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6196781/ Depression is treatable though. Your doctor could visit the idea of hormone replacement. But probably a better idea is treatment for depression that could be short term. An SSRI can be very beneficial at times like this.
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy at age 49 and it was devastating then! It sounds like you are not on an adequate form or dose of estrogen. The hormone loss (especially estrogen and possibly testosterone) after ovary removal can cause all kinds of health issues and make us feel like we are 90.
Avatar f tn However just had all possible tests done...Iron Hemoglobin, estrogen, thyroid, etc all absolutely normal. Subclinical perhaps but i am taking a multivitamin for hair (hairvite) What about stress? any suggestions to stop hair falling?
Avatar n tn t notice a difference after another month of experiementing so I took another 1/2 of estrace. The 2mg dose of estrace seemed to help with the mood swings but the sweating and frontal hair loss has been devastating to me to say the least. The Dr. now has me on 100mg of prometrium together with 1 mg of Estrace, but stated to me that I shouldn't really need the prometrium beings I don't have a Uterus anymore.Am I going to keep loosing my hair like this?
Avatar f tn Your estrogen levels are way too high. Total estrogen normal reference range: Day 1 - 10: 61 - 394pg/mL, Day 11–20: 122–437 pg/mL; Day 21–30: 156–350 pg/mL. High estrogen leads to excessive production of thyroid binding globulin (TBG). Although there are enough thyroid hormones in the blood, they are not taken up by the body's cells as they are inactivated by TBG. In other words, thyroid labs are in range but you have signs of low thyroid function.
Avatar n tn Alesse to control my irregular menstrual cycle and iron for anemia. Since March, my weight loss has stalled, even though I am still counting calories and burning five hundred calories five days a week at the gym. Could the cause of the stall be either of the new meds?
Avatar n tn the depo is the culprit along with the prozac...most birth control methods have synthentic estrogen, estrogen keeps pounds on...then adding prozac, is another weight gainer. I was on synthetic estrogen, b/c pill, in my 20's, weighing 198lbs throughout 20's, oh, you are depressed, here is zoloft...more weight gain...sugar imbalance. hormone imbalance was the main issue not discovered until total hysterectomy. I then used more synthetic hrt and gained more weight...
Avatar m tn I think I read somewhere that keeping the uterus intact allows a woman to still have normal orgasm (whereas ovaries are not needed). Loss of estrogen production post menopause is not that much different than loss of ovaries post menopause. I felt no difference after I lost my ovaries. If anything I felt more stable. I think it is because I was so much healthier without the cyst.
Avatar n tn Last year, I was on the birth control pill (Marvelon 21) to regulate my periods which I had a lack of due to low estrogen levels because of, mainly, being overweight. I have not been on the pill since July 2007. I am just wondering, is it possible to become pregnant if I have not had my period for the past 4 to 5 months? Also, will I have difficulty in the future to get pregnant having such irregular menstrual cycles and taking the birth control pill so excessively?
Avatar f tn High levels of estrogen cause unexplained weight gain and feeling fatigued or lethargic. Low thyroid hormone is a consideration since there is family history of thyroid disease but high estrogen is a more likely cause in my opinion. A good article on high estrogen is "High Estrogen Overload Symptoms. Dangers Every Woman Should Be Aware Of" from the Healthy You Naturally website. An excerpt....
Avatar n tn There may be an initial increase in hair growth or reduction in hair loss experienced by few women when they start taking birth control pills or estrogen replacement pills. Since you have been taking it continuously estrogen levels will stabilize and the natural hair growth cycle might be restored. Long term use of hormonal contraceptives should be discouraged. You may try discontinuing the pill when you are trying to get pregnant. Give your hair extra nourishment and take a balanced diet.
Avatar n tn Prolonged and heavy use of weed can affect the testosterone v. estrogen mix that men have. He might just need to leave off the weed for a while.
Avatar m tn //www.healthline.com/health/low-testosterone/anti-estrogen-diet-men It's all that healthy stuff, not surprising. It's got red grapes on it though which I personally like.
Avatar n tn Toprol (beta blockers) Inhibit healthy levels of the catecholamine hormones (epinephrine and nor-epinephrine) Adrenalin. Thus they inhibit good estrogen, allowing the bad estrogen to possibly promote cancer. The following is from www.vrp.com read the whole artical under (DIM). If you have a-fib and on a beta blocker I would hesitate to supplement with (dim). Any increase in Adrenalin could cause a-fib.

Avatar n tn Since that time I have gained weight that I cannot lose, my cholesteral level has risen to a danger zone and now take medication also B12 injections. I suffer from fatigue, memory loss, cold sensitivety and other problems. I recently had a FSH test done and was told the levels indicate I am still producing estrogen.
Avatar n tn Why do i need to take progesterone and estrogen my whole 1st trimester? Also we have a day 7 frozen embrie does it have a chance?
1328473 tn?1335874467 I have read that high estrogen levels can cause "bad" eggs. We recently completed our first IVF cycle that resulted in a pregnancy but I m/c between 6-7 weeks. My RE did not have much info on why it happened. My Estrogen was 7800 at the time of retrieval, which I know is high. Can high estrogen levels cause my eggs to be bad and in turn result in the m/c?
692794 tn?1227925547 After the birth of my first-born, I noticed a loss of feeling inside my vagina, but something I could deal with. I still discussed it with my OB, wondering if we should schedule a Cesarean to prevent further damage by having my second baby, well she didn't think I needed to... she was wrong, and I've regretted it ever since. I have absolutely no feeling inside my vagina, now. My muscle strength is also weak, although I'm still tight. I do kegals - all the time.
