Common Questions and Answers about Estrogen in yaz

Avatar f tn A free t4 would really be telling in light of the previous use of YAZ, whose estrogen can cause the t4 to be elevated. I'm sure the endo will do the free t4 instead.
280418 tn?1306325910 t been on the pill in years). I started the pill (Yaz) this Jan. and now the migraines have really increased in frequency. I stopped the pill last night to see if they at least decrease in frequency. Does any research support an increase/onset of migraines with taking the pill? I am very tired of the migraines! Thank you in advance for any insight! PS...
Avatar n tn i am on yaz and i am supposed to start my white pills in two days..today i saw some blood in my underwear what could this mean? is this normal?
Avatar f tn Have you had your Potassium and Calcium and Vit. D levels checked? Yaz and Yasmine are not solely estrogen based and may cause elevated Potassium levels. I had low Vit. D levels and had muscle cramping and tingling from the low level. Hope you are feeling better soon.
Avatar f tn I see that the one hormone is the same but the other ethinylestradiol in YAz is 0.02 and in Yasmin is 0.03. What does this mean and is it safe to give her?
Avatar f tn have them swith her BCP to a lower dose estrogen it may have too many hormones in it.
Avatar f tn t know about the breastfeeding part....but when I was on the pill...Yaz gave me beautiful even clear skin..... Maybe you could ask your doctor about those.
1419937 tn?1302557849 That's why I started taking it. I don't know what's best, but I've heard bad things about Yaz (the one I'm taking). That it has twice as much estrogen than any other birth control and it will make you go crazy pretty much, have crazy emotions (in my case, crazier).
484167 tn?1210001396 ok i need some help here...i was on yaz for about 10 months when my periods started going hay-wire...like i would get a period in the middle of my cycle and not get my period while taking the"reminder pills"...my dr. gave me yasmin since i guess the level of estrogen is a little stronger...i have been taking it for over a week...i feel pregnant. my body feels just like it did when i was pregnant and i don't remember feeling this way at all when i started the yaz almost a year ago.
Avatar f tn Usually if someone is on birthcontrol pills, you will require more thyroid medication. Estrogen interferes with the binding of the thyroid medication. Just try to take the lowest dosage possible of birth control. If your thyroid is regulated properly, your pms should get much better if that is an issue. I haven't heard many good things about Yaz or Yasmine....my doctor wanted me on Yasmine until I said no way. I am now on low dose microgestin.....
Avatar f tn I went off Yaz and started to notice weight gain after a few months, in about 2 years I gained a little over 40 lbs. I am absolutely miserable. I've tried dieting, exercising, and nothing has happened. I don't fit into any clothes, I hate my body and I have no idea what else to do. I had my hormone levels tested and my testosterone is a little high (45pg/ml).
Avatar n tn htm As you age , naturally your hormones change too. so a dosage of the same estrogen going in a year ago is going to be different another year. when you have a thyroid disorder even more imbalances will happen hormonally and the birth control will still be admitting the same estrogen as it did. It is totally logic sense - but you will have a hard time getting that though to a doctor.
Avatar f tn IF you need contraception, I would consider starting you on something with a little more estrogen in it--or waiting until your normal cycles had thickened your uterine lining back to its normal size before re-starting your pills. Depo provera almost ALWAYS causes abnormal bleeding, so it is no surprise that you had it too. I would then proceed based on the findings of the pap. If it was normal--I'd repeat in one year. If abnormal-I'd do what was necessary at that point.
Avatar f tn Do fat cells secrete estrogen? Do I even need estrogen replacement? I used a bioidentical progesterone cream in the past. I was on Yaz birth control before the surgery. Without that I was practically psychotic.I am more miserable now than before surgery. I cry A LOT. My family is sick of me and I am sick of me. My doctor doesn't explain things. Will excercise/supplements etc be enough?Where can I turn for info?
Avatar m tn Is there any difference in the contraception effectiveness of Yaz in patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome? If so what are they?
Avatar n tn They did a ton of blood work and found nothing wrong so the best advise I can give to you is just take her to a GYN and have them run test. My doctor put me on YAZ and it has made me regular and I love it! I hope this helps!
Avatar n tn It can reflect any thyroid medicine you are on. I am taking yaz, so far no problems for me. It does interact with whatever medicine you are on. So just keep trying a lower dose one until you find the right one.
Avatar m tn By this point you probably know whether or not your girlfriend is pregnant...but if she is not and she is still having these symptoms please tell her that it is VERY likely that it is the YAZ which is causing her to have her symptoms. I began taking it about 2 weeks ago and on the second week began to feel terrible anxiety, depression, nausea, headaches, weird breathing problems (apparently caused by too much estrogen), crying all the time, etc...
Avatar f tn I had Thyroid Storm in 2002, was put on methimazole, went back down to hypo, then back up to hyper maybe twice a year since then. I do have thyroid antibodies, but fail to understand why I keep going back up to hyper. I've switched doctors a couple of times and can't seem to find anyone who is willing to do something permanent. It's kind of been a wait and see game. I've also noticed fluctuations depending on whether I'm on Yaz (estrogen) or not.
Avatar f tn One possible cause of cysts is too much estrogen. Besides the estrogen the ovary produces naturally, artificial ones are present in food, drugs, environmental toxins, etc., and it's believed to adversely affect ovary behavior. That's one of the reasons why birth control pills help many women to get ovaries to work properly again. There has also been an article stating that NSAIDs like Advil can prevent a normal ovulation follicle from breaking down, leading to cyst formation.
Avatar f tn I was on Seasonale for almost 4 years. I loved it, but I gained A LOT of weight (I am 5'0" and have always weighed about 115...I got up to almost 150.) and was actually diagnosed with type II diabetes. I also take Modafinil (Provigil) which is known to lower the effectiveness of birth control...but I have never had any problems with that whatsoever, thank goodness! I stopped taking the Seasonale in September of 2007 when my fiance deployed to Iraq.
1027094 tn?1327429732 Birth control pills thin the lining so that an egg does not implant in the uterus it should not effect your cervix.
1416408 tn?1282230588 If you find yourself gaining weight, bring it to the doctors attention as there are a variety of pills to choose from. But not taking it, will cause a big weight gain and a permanent change in your future plans.
