Avatar f tn This is a non-cancerous condition which results when portions of the breast gland grow abnormally large because of excessive sensitivity to estrogen (the female hormone) stimulation. Cancer usually appears as solid masses or calcified nodules, not cysts, which are fluid-containing lumps. Fibrocystic disease is not "normal", but it doesn't usually cause problems other than intermittent discomfort and pain particularly as menstruation approaches.
Avatar m tn Endometriosis feed off estrogen. The estrogen-dependent endo lesions, if left unchecked, will begin to create their own estrogen. I do want to clarify that the pill or any other form of HRT does not prevent the Endometriosis from growing. The reason it is used is to help stop the pain by stopping the periods. I was on a low dose BCP (Marvelon) for 8 yrs continuously and did help with my pain. However it still continued to grow even after deep excision surgery.
Avatar n tn I had the same issue. My gyno told me it was because I didn't have a proper amount of estrogen in my body therefor it caused dry vagina (which is abnormal for a 17 year old like myself). So it could be a hormone thing or it could be that you aren't lubricated enough. In that case use KY jelly which will work wonders.
880900 tn?1467270141 It is used to replace estrogen hormones in situations where the body can no longer produce estrogen. It is also used to treat a condition where the tissues of the vagina become weak (vaginal atrophy or atrophic vaginitis).

760134 tn?1318549966 The body temp shifts down as the progesterone hormone levels go down. This downward temp can happen 0-3 days before your period starts. Then during your period, it fluctuates although mainly it stays at lower temps due to the estrogen hormones. Hope this helps.
148691 tn?1260194903 The way lupron works to shrink a fibroid is to turn off the signal from your brain to your ovaries that tells the ovaries to make estrogen and release eggs. Since the signal is shut down, the ovary stops making estrogen, which shrinks the fibroid and suppresses endometriosis. At the same time, the low levels of estrogen cause hot flushes, just as 50 year old women experience hot flushes when their ovaries reach menopause and stop making estrogen naturally.
Avatar n tn I was low in Estrogen and really low in Progesterone. In a few months it went away. Progesterone converts to Estrogen if your body needs it.
Avatar f tn Hi, Yes, I think that your mom would benefit by taking Arimidex. If the tumor was estrogen receptive (even if weak)and the cancer was locally advanced,I think that it's best to follow the recommendation given by her Doctor. Arimidex is an aromatase inhibitor. It works by blocking the enzyme aromatase (found in the body’s muscle, skin, breast and fat) which is used to convert androgens (hormones produced by the adrenal glands) into estrogen.
Avatar n tn Whether or not to do chemotherapy depends on many factors including the size of the tumor, the histology (the way it looks under the microscope), estrogen and progesterone status, her2 neu status, etc. Basically, the purpose of chemotherapy is to reduce the risk of recurrence and/or metastasis. Often oncologists will estimate the risk of recurrence as well as the estimated benefit of chemotherapy and base recommendations on this.
Avatar n tn I have read a lot about it and it seems to be widely thought of as an effective remedy for vaginal dryness in a way that does not let the estrogen be absorbed by the body. I will continue to use it.
20922415 tn?1661860103 As the follicle develops, it produces the sex hormones estrogen and progesterone, which thicken the lining of the uterus called the endometrium. Progesterone levels rise in the second half of the menstrual cycle and following the release of the egg called ovulation, the ovarian tissue that replaces the follicle (the corpus luteum) continues to produce estrogen and progesterone.
Avatar f tn My husband is one of those people who like to be covered up to the nose, windows closed. I also feel he emits a lot of body heat in bed which doesn't help me. Consequently neither of us is sleeping well. Could this be post menopausal symptoms, ie hot flushes or is it my body temp?
427265 tn?1444076436 * If the male hormone testosterone is not broken down efficiently, this can lead to an excess of testosterone in the body, which can result in weight gain in the upper part of the body on the trunk and abdomen. These women develop an apple shape and are known as the Android body type. There are four different body types and each one has unique hormonal and metabolic characteristics.
Avatar f tn I tried to order it online, but they need prescription from verified dr in the usa. My doc in the usa said he cant give me one now because he have not seen me for while.
Avatar n tn I was told that usually women who have taken birth control pills show these changes in the liver (I guess due to increases in estrogen levels). But, I've never taken birth control pills and I am wondering why I have them. I was told that as long as they were not compromising the function of my liver to not worry about them and to have another ultrasound in 3 months. I'm not someone who just sits around and waits for something to get worse before doing something.
Avatar m tn There are some hereditary conditions in which males have elevated estradiol levels. Also some endocrine syndromes. MOST of the time, the excess estrogen is produced in excess adipose tissue. Usually estrogen is converted into testosterone, but in some cases, this fails to happen. This is the type of case in which something like Aromasin might help.
Avatar f tn m sorry to hear what you have been through for the last 1.5 years. Do you take any maintenance medicine during this time? What tests were done in the past? Formication or sensation that resembles that of insects crawling on the skin may present with feelings of itchiness, tingling, pins and needles, burning, or even pain.
Avatar n tn ve been told very little of the estrogen is absorbed into the body. It might the safest HRT as far as cancer risk goes. Living with the symptoms was no longer an option for me. I'm not aware of a natual HRT.
Avatar n tn If the inappropriate urination is not due to a urinary tract infection, or other physical problem, than it is behavioral, obviously. Is she also defecating inappropriately also? Your cat really sounds like a tough character! It sounds as if you must try some behavioural modification on your cat, even if it means following your cat around constantly with a squirt bottle and give the cat a squirt in the face every time your dog is bullied. This will require a bit of work on your part.
Avatar f tn I assume this is based on the fairly well established observation that pregnant women often (though certainly not always) experience a reduction in or absence of MS symptoms which seem to return, sometimes intensely, after delivery. As contraceptive pills work by suppressing ovulation (in effect making the body think it's already pregnant), this may be where he's coming from. But... this is a GP. He is not a neurologist, much less an MS specialist.
898000 tn?1242956625 They were so healthy, beautiful and the same size 7mm or was in cm? At the last us. Why did my RE have me come back in 2wks instead of one?? I think I just want to know "could this have been prevented"? Hope all is well with you, you really try to give so many of us guidance, an ear and a feeling of knowing someone care and I apologize because I have been in the bed for weeks so I do not know what has been going on with you???
Avatar f tn I'm sorry you are dealing with all this. I think it's important to know that even though you still have your ovaries, they typically don't function normally after hysterectomy. This puts additional stress on your other endocrine glands, especially thyroid. The ovaries of women with all their female parts produce higher levels of ovarian hormones than women who don't have all their parts, especially testosterone, some of which the body converts into estrogen as needed.
Avatar m tn Systemic estrogen therapy — by pill, patch or gel — can have a positive effect on brain function and mood factors that affect sexual response. Local estrogen therapy — in the form of a vaginal cream or a slow-releasing suppository or ring that you place in your vagina — can increase blood flow to the vagina and help improve desire. In some cases, your doctor may prescribe a combination of estrogen and progesterone.
7930203 tn?1395494387 I am 50 yrs old and have been bleeding for 8 weeks and have been to the ER twice in a week. It revealed a big cyst and an enlarged uterus. Second time I went it showed the ctst burst and my endometrium had shrunk. I went last week to my gynecologist and had a biopsy done. I will have that result in 4 days. I don't expect anything from it. Seems everyone I talk to (friends) their advice is "you don't need your uterus anymore". I am sorry but its a part of me.
