I am a postmenopausal woman (65 y). I stopped estrogen treatment in January 2013 but have sometimes used local estrogen and lactic acid. I have had problems with my urinary opening, vaginal atrium and vagina. My distal urethra has been swollen, sore and smarting. On May 7, 2013, I found a "sand" grain betveen my labia. It vas brownish, with innumeral vacuoles and some regular structures, not exactly like microvilli.

I am 33 years old w/extremely low levels of estrogen, not sure what the correlation is but I tried to do a low dose of estrogen and it didn't help so I went off of it. I know that stress and anxiety can decrease your levels of estrogen, progesterone, etc. So which came first, the chicken or the egg?

No, I was off the cortef for 2 weeks prior to testing. Yes, it shows a normal rhythm, but the morning levels are WAY too low. Optimal cortisol levels for morning should be at the upper end of the range so a person has energy to get out of bed. I have no idea if I'm primary or secondary and I've never had an ACTH test. I refuse to see endos because they have no training in adrenal fatigue.

I use to be able to get super wet even before having sex to the point that it would drip down my thighs before we even got started. Now I have to give my bf head with a lot of saliva before he puts it in and a few minutes after we start the saliva and my vagina dry up. I'm 100% completely turned on so that's not the problem. Initially it had estrogen in it, too, but I did not respond well to it at all so they took it out. I should add that I have had a hyst and only have one ovary but according to FSH and other test results I am not in menopause. I am 42 years old. I take it in an estrogen form. My estrogen absorption is not doing very well. My level is now at 18. I have severe anxiety/depression/depersonalization. I went to my doctor yesterday and he said that my numbers for estrogen are low because I have so much anxiety/depression that my body is using up the estrogen where it shouldn't be. Blood test only measures at the time of day it is taken,. Saliva measures throughout the day. Mine is very low in the AM.

There are several blood tests for estrogen that need to be done...and doing them along side a complete saliva hormone panel is even better. Then you can see active and storage. If you do a complete saliva panel you can check your whole hormonal system just about. Also your estrogen levels change througout your cycle.

I took a saliva test to test my Estrogen levels (Estradiol) and I'm confused about the results. I'm sure its just a conversion thing but I can't seem to find any information on it. I have read that a normal Estradiol range for men is between 20 pg/ml and 40 pg/ml, however my numbers look a little different and I'm not sure how to compare.

I had an endometrial bx in the spring that was normal. I cannot go on birth control pills to regulate this spotting because I take blood pressure medication and don't think that would be the smartest idea. What do you think I should do next. I am so sick of this spotting it is infringing on my life.

It’s because of in women estrogen is responsible (among other things) for keeping saliva viscous and thin. When estrogen levels drop - saliva and mucus thickens, gets sticky and dries up - causing that lump feeling as it collects and sits behind your uvula. You may also get a dry mouth and throat. Mines improved since I’ve been on HRT (took about 5 months though) and the steroid drops helped too. Avoid eating raw onion and things that dry your mouth. Avoid sugar too.

I am also hypothyroid and 26 y/o. I think being hypothyroid makes it more difficult to conceive due to hormonal issues. I'm starting a saliva hormone test at home on the 17th b/c a doctor finally realized that my thyroid medication may not be doing it's job effectively due to an imbalance of hormones. We're thinking at the very least an estrogen dominance problem. If you cannot get pregnant, you may want to talk to your doctor about doing a saliva test at home.

I personally believe in bio identical hormones..you dont need progestrone...estrogen is enough..I like the vivelle dot its a patch so your certain to get correct dose,,,,easy to use... Black Kosh helped me a bit when I first got my hysteerectomy now that Im on estrogen I dont need it..it only helped me with night sweats.perhaps youll have better results....best wishes,,hope this helped some...

You could be "estrogen dominant" too much estrogen in your system. I would ask for a blood test or saliva test to test your hormonal levels.

Or it can be another hormone suppressing the T - like elevated cortisol as well. In other words, it just cannot be determined to my head, in one set of saliva tests.

I did the saliva test, and results came back that I am estrogen dominant and dhea and prog. and test very low. So they pharmacist started me on 5 mg of dhea and also a progest. cream. I was good for 4 days and thought I found the cure. Until just last Wed all the way until today...that is 6 days....I started with severe cramps, pain in lower back, almost as if I was getting my menstrual cycle. Then came the Diarrhea and I am not talking one time....

Hi thanks for your response x I did ask for a saliva test so my estrogen could be personalised to my needs but the docs said u been reading too much - they gave me there low level stuff and i went loopy they said my levels werent low enough on a regular occassion.

The boost in estrogen with these prowerful birth control products now out for the public can cause a long surge in estrogen robbing the body of progesterone to keep your body balanced. You need a complete panel of gender sex blood labs or better yet - saliva panel testing, along with liver tests to determine what to do to put your body back to normal cycle. I suggest not doing the BC at all either.

First, if you got your testing done with Diagnostechs, they are notorious for having "off" results. ZRT labs is best ( I don't work for any laboratories) but rather than sending saliva in thier packaging, overnighting it is best, unless you're close to their home state, which I think is Oregon or Washington.

I know that when I was testing and I was taking estrogen, estrogen will bind to free cortisol (saliva and urine) making those tests lower than they really are... ACTH can be low due to the test tube being put into the bin instead of the centrifuge - was it put, while you were sitting there, into a centrifuge? And was it a chilled tube? If not, the test was inaccurate from the get go. I would get off the supplements, and get another re-test. Anything you are on can impact testing.

After saliva test i was told i have low adrelas and cortisol, DHNA and progesteron level in comparison to estrogen. I was taking natural progesteron for 1 month but only 50 mg bc i was too drowsy with full pull. But I fill more hot flashes and adrenal fatigue is worse. I think one of the reason is adrenal cream i used with GABA but probably also progesterone. Just in case I stopped using it. How long it should be used? Is there is something else to help with estrogen dominance?

I dont know if you live in England or America but i live in England and they tend to give out Estrogen more here so it seems or dual Hrt with both in it. I have researched on so many sites and have found that a woman of 35 or over a woman is more Progestorone deficient. I have been on the site that do saliva tests but they dont send them to England sadly. They kindly did tell me that they thought i should be on Progestorone and said the Estrogen would make me worse.
