I am not a total expert, but I have recently learned that my habit of eating lots of soy products (soy milk, soy meat, etc) mimics estrogen in the body. I also found out that certain chemicals in soft plastic water bottles (which I had drank out of every day for a year at work) 'leak' into the water and also 'mimic' estrogen. Even stress hormones can lead to further imbalances.

But…uh oh…BPA polymer decays over time, so traces of the synthetic estrogen are released into canned foods and baby formula in plastic bottles. (BPA is also used to make pacifiers, plastic forks and spoons, plastic bowls, etc.) By the time researchers started studying the effects of BPA on animals, use of the chemical was in full swing. And wouldn't you know it – the animal tests suggested that BPA might not be real healthy.

Well there is a recent debate about hard, plastic bottles containing a chemical that can leach into the milk. I personally used Avent with both my girls and loved them. However, they are on the list of unsafe bottles. I believe the chemical is bisephenol-A or something like that. Just google "unsafe plastic bottles" and some lists will come up for you! The best bet is GLASS bottles.

sells glass bottles which I got from target. I had to ask because the bottles are in the same packaging as the plastic but have a small 'glass' label up the top which is hard to see. Not sure if they sell those where you live..you could try. They say you shouldnt use water bottles for ages because the chemical leaks so can you imagine a bottle..when its heated, boiled etc for so many months.

I dont know what bottles to use , plastic bottles sound safer but i heard some good stuff about glass bottles .

One of the things that contributes to a high estrogen load is drinking soda out of plastic bottles. All those two liter (and smaller) bottles of soft drinks could be another bad guy to us. The more I find, the more it confirms my suspicion that the modern lifestyle has several pitfalls adversely affecting women's health.

I always used the plastic bags to reheat stored milk in and then poured it in the bottles. Although my Avent sterlizer got nuked with all the bottles in it. Oh well. Two healthy babies who occasionally ate dirt, and bugs, and god knows what else when they were two.

They are extremely easy to clean. Plastic bottles tend to be hard to clean but as the others said when they hold there bottle it was a little scary. It was also hard for my daughter to hold her bottle at first because it was a little heavy.

I dont bye one particular brand but I always get glass bottles they are better then plastic ones.

I did mine around week 36 and put them away in a large plastic container so they dont get dusty.

What about the regular plastic cups sold in walmart in bright summer colors? They are plastic and could run the chances of containing BPA. My point here is that todays society although a tad smarter than the earlier generations(no offense) really have no physical proof that this BPA chemical really exists and really does cause cancer. If you look on most every package in a store the state of california says lightbulbs and even fireplace logs cause cancer.....But where is the proof?

I know both of these come in plastic and glass. So which one would you probably go with. I heard with the glass one they don't stink like the plastic does. and the plastic has more of a yellow tint to it. Sorry this is so long.

BPA is a chemical in plastic bottles that is believed to cause cancer and other issues in children who used plastic bottles. It is said that the chemical BPA is only released when the plastic is heated up, and it causes the chemical to mix with the formula of the baby. I believe it is known to cause cancer, autism and a few other things. Im not ontop of the BPA thing as much as some women on here, but I just wanted to post what I knew of the BPA crisis.

I saw them on Walmart.com and wasn't sure if they were good, but I guess they are based on the reviews here. I'm a FTM, so this is all new and confusing to me.

I had to pump because my son was in the hospital, and I just put the milk in the milk in the glass bottle. He loved it, plus it keeps air out.
