Avatar f tn Hi There, The fact of the matter is that eating disorders are very common in older women and I think that the reason that it is not a well known fact is simply because as older women this is something that we hide pretty well. I am 38 "Soon to be 39" and I also have an eating disorder. I flip flop between bulimia and just not eating at all. I am 5'0" and I weigh about 113. I have a medium frame and I work out like a demon. I both love and hate food.
Avatar f tn I don’t know if the IFN caused this occurrence, or if it was merely coincidental. Many women do HCV therapy at the normal biological timeframe that menopause occurs in naturally, of course. Have you consulted an endocrinologist?
Avatar m tn The treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia in men and breast cancer in post-menopausal women is to use a class of drugs called aromatase inhibitors. According to Jaroslav Drsata, a scientist in the Czech Republic, the enzyme-blocking properties of saw palmetto may include aromatase.

Avatar n tn You will be amazed how much better you will feel in just about 5-7 days ( less for some) Bio Identical in comparison with old school hormones like premarine are very safe, you will hear different from some, actually I asked my cardiologist he says they are safe for heart where the older hormones are not, and lack of estrogen is very bad for the skeletal system...
Avatar f tn How is your estrogen and your DHEA-S? When your doc tests your testosterone, does he test bio-available testosterone, and does the doc test sex binding hormones, LH, FSH, to get the entire pic of your androgens and how your body is using the testosterone? Estrogen and testosterone and very very closely related - so it could be that your testosterone is simply converting over to estrogen instead of staying as testosterone. This cannot be controlled really - it just happens.
Avatar f tn Some studies suggest that these lumps may be dependent upon estrogen, because they are common in premenopausal women, pregnant women and postmenopausal women taking estrogen. Limiting beverages or foods that contain caffeine, including coffee and chocolate can help shrink the lump and reduce the pain. Also evening primrose oil and vitamins E and C supplement, application of warm compresses to the breast and massaging with Castor oil could be very beneficial.
Avatar f tn A study testing the safety of vaginal estrogen (Vagifem) for vaginal atrophy/dryness in woman on estrogen-blocking drugs such as tamoxifen 4. A study testing the safety of low dose estrogen to treat hot flahes and vaginal dryness in women on AIs However, a search for estrogen as a treatment for ERneg BC turned up no results. If you come across the study you referred to again, I'd really appreciate a reference or link to the information...
Avatar m tn I have heard that hpv usually has cleared out in older women. Is this true ? How about repeated infections ? Also that mostly HPV is found in young adults in their 20s, is there any stats that i can look up ?
Avatar f tn Maybe ovarian functioning is directly coorelated to the quality is some fashion. I do know that failing ovarian functioning in older women cooresponds very highly to their present quality. Well, how could it be that I could be compared to my cohort's quality if it is based on my age. It just doesn't make sense! Does anybody have a prognosis for my outcome.
Avatar m tn My daughter (13yo) has been having heavy and long periods. She went to see the dr (in China) and they gave her Femoston. All I can find about this when I search is for older women & Menopause. I am worried about giving her it. Can anyone advise.
Avatar f tn I think we need a little more information in order to help you. First, I’m assuming you’re female, is that correct!? Also, how old are you? What kind of pain are you having? I know that as women get older, the vaginal tissues become thinner & are more likely to be injured. Many women neating menopause complain of pain during intercourse. It’s been said that without frequent sexual activity, the situation gets somewhat worse because there’s no lubrication.
Avatar n tn Ask your doctor. Women do lose estrogen as they are older and particularly post menopause which is unlikely at age 40. They prescribe, however, an estrogen cream for vaginal use to combat the effects of this natural hormonal shift. But vaginal prolapse is a huge problem for women especially if they've had natural child birth or gain excessive weight. If the lubricant helps you, go for it.
Avatar n tn A critical issue here is the duration of your replacement therapy - among older women, it is known that estrogen replacement being given for menopause increases the risk of getting breast cancer. It would not be accurate to use their data for someone your age. In general, a period of 3 years at the most of estrogen replacement therapy is estimated to balance the risks of cancer and the control of menopausal symptoms.
Avatar f tn Your symptoms may be due, at least in part, from not having enough estrogen. Women also lose about 50% of their testosterone when their ovaries are removed. Unfortunately, doctors fail to divulge this important information before surgery! 1mg of estrogen taken orally is a fairly low dose for a woman without ovaries. And some women do not absorb oral estrogen very well. Has your doctor ever checked your blood level of estrogen or estradiol?
Avatar f tn t women be allowed to have a small amount of the weak estrogen estriol present in their body to offset problems caused by not having estrogen? Why must ALL the estrogen be destroyed y these drugs - seems like serious overkill in my opinion.
527657 tn?1214051850 After I quit smoking, I had the same problem. My sex drive just went WAAAAY down after I got off of the nicotine. If you have gained weight or become lethargic, that could be a HUGE reason that your libido has diminished. Stay active and working out, it helps! (Totally not an excuse for you to start smoking again lol) Plus (not trying to insult), but you are getting older.
414018 tn?1268611672 Terrific story! Thanks. : ) And thanks for all your hard work. Is your OVCA estrogen-dependent? Have you asked your doctor about taking anti-estrogen medication? I'm on one called Aromasin. It kills up to 95% of the estrogen in your body. I'm hoping it works for OVCA; it's in clinical trials for it now (it's used for breast cancer at the moment.) And hey, at least you're entering menopause as your winter is approaching in Australia. Happy hot flashes!
1068361 tn?1290628159 hi all i was wondering if anyone here has had success using clomid over the age of 38. ive heard that clomid doesnt work for older women because it thins the uterine lining thus preventing implantation.
Avatar f tn JUST GUESSING HERE BUT AYBE UR ESTROGEN IS TOO HIGH ?? unless they also removed ur tubes in the hyterectomy in that case ... it just seems like menopause to me ... i havent gone thru the symptoms yet ...
Avatar f tn Most of all my specialist and drs except for one specialist says I need to take combined hrt. Estrogen only taken by a lot of women in the 60 s showed there was an increase in uterus cancer for those who had their uterus in tact. The 70s saw a big increase in this type of cancer which is why they prescribe combined.
973741 tn?1342342773 They use antidepressants now in place of hormone therapy in a lot of women. Maybe something to consider. There are risks and benefits to everything, of course, so do your research.
Avatar f tn I had 12 eggs retrieved - 6 made it to blast. Unfortunately, I had a miscarriage but in terms of getting eggs and ones that made it to blast, - it was a success. I am gearing up for my 2nd fresh IVF and I am seeing a new RE and he said he would do the same protocol. My previous RE said lupron is an older IVF method. I'm assuming this is your first IVF?
