Avatar f tn I got the depo shot back in December of last year and got off of it in march. I have been bleeding very very heavy non stop since I started it. It stops for a few days and then starts right back up again. I gush blood and soak through pads. Huge blood clots fall right out of me and are the size of a medium banana! Very dark red in color. What's wrong with me? Please help!
Avatar n tn I would go into a OBGYN speak with them about the mood swings and bleeding- there is medication to balance it out, as long as estrogen is not alone in a medicaton it is used. Many oral birth controls have progesterone and estrogen combined to lesssen the effects of possible cancer later. There are medications and procedures that will accomadate your lifestyle, just trial and error. Good luck.
Avatar f tn for the past 2 1/2 years I have been bleeding abnormally. It started when I first started the depo provera. I stayed on it for 9 months trying to work with my OB GYN to figure out why I was bleeding so much. She put me on estrogen pills because I'm a small person and didn't have the fat cells to store the estrogen. I bled more when I took the pills so I stopped taking them and just got off the shot.
Avatar f tn Does anybody have a clue about how this drug works esp for someone who had depo provera shots in the past? Will this spotting eventually lead to periods in the next coulple of days? I need to get all my hormnone levels checked on day 3 and then get an HSG done... Please advice....
Avatar f tn I tried doubling up on the nasal spray since I was prescribed the wrong strength, but it did not help. I had my second Depo Provera shot on December 7. I thought it would help make the bleeding stop, but I am still bleeding. I have also tried a estrogen pill I was prescribed, but it has not helped. I know I will have light bleeding on the Depo Provera, but is it normal to be bleeding for 37 days? I have not felt like myself lately and I am having trouble doing my everyday activities.
Avatar f tn is the depo shot a bad birth control me and my boy friend havent had sex in 4 months and i think its because of the depo shot that my period hasnt stop This discussion is related to Depo Shot.
280418 tn?1306325910 I stopped the pill and started Depo Provera injections, and the migraines ceased. Now, 10 years later, they started again. I have had 3 in two weeks. Interestingly enough, I had a couple this summer (hadn't been on the pill in years). I started the pill (Yaz) this Jan. and now the migraines have really increased in frequency. I stopped the pill last night to see if they at least decrease in frequency. Does any research support an increase/onset of migraines with taking the pill?
Avatar f tn Hmm, breast tenderness is usually a side effect of estrogen excess - but I thought shots were mostly progesterone, like Depo Provera? Which shot are you on?
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy 2 years. ago at the age of 21. I have the Depo Provera hormone shot a week ago. Avatar f tn d have to check on the implant bit I know the shot (depo provera), the mini pill, and the mirena are all safe with nursing.
Avatar f tn Make sure you tell your doctor if you're breastfeeding. The estrogen in a lot of birth controls can dry you up.
4364093 tn?1365869659 Thanks :) im only 20 weeks but was just thinking about it.
Avatar n tn All women react diffrent to diffrent contraception its completely normal to get irregular periods or none at all i used the cerezette pill after having my son and that caused my periods to become irregular so i went onto the inplanon which i bled for a year strait so i went onto the depo jab in wich i stopped completely but had a two week period before the next jab was due so dont worry too much i suggest sticking with a contraception for at least 6 months for your body to get use to it and if
Avatar n tn I have been on depo provera for 3 years and haven't had a period. Have you both checked with your doctors about this? Good luck!
Avatar f tn Other forms of medroxyprogesterone, such as Depo-Provera, are used as a contraceptive injection and prescribed in the treatment of endometrial cancer. Some doctors prescribe Provera to treat endometriosis, menopausal symptoms, premenstrual tension, sexual aggressive behavior in men, and sleep apnea (temporary failure to breathe while sleeping). Avatar m tn I have a problem and am unsure what do to to help. Any advice is very much appreciated. My fiance and I have been dating for over 2 years (he is 24, I am 20). When we first began having sex, everything went smoothly. About a year after we met, we began to have sex less often (once a week as opposed to 2-3 times). Within the last 6 months or so, sex has become almost unbearable for me due to vaginal pain. Due to this, we have sex maybe once a month now.
Avatar f tn You had started with Depo provera shots in late June and have got prolonged bleeding since July. I assure you that there is no need to panic. Heavy and prolonged bleeding are common side effects of starting Depo shots and usually it takes 3 months for such menstrual irregularities to settle down.Depo shots are to be given every three months, so for the first shot this kind of menstrual irregularity can occur.
Avatar f tn I started birth control at 13 to help with the cysts, I was on the pill for a few years then started the depo provera shot around 18. That worked for awhile. I thought I out grew the pcos like my doctors promised would happen. Come to find out the shot merely masked the disease. I am now 100% off birth control. I take 100mg of progesterone everyday to try and help. However, blood work indicated that I'm unusual.
Avatar n tn The same thing happened to me after I had just 1 shot of Depo Provera. It could be that you had some very small symptoms of becoming hypothyroid before you started taking the Yasmin. The Yasmin, could have set it off. People who have hypothyroidism usually need to take it for life. It is rare that this disorder will correct itself. This is not something to play around with. You need to take the medicine or your problems will only get worse and can become debilitating.
10515800 tn?1419227034 Estrogen based birth control is what dries most women up. There are several estrogen free options including the "mini pill" (progesterone only rather than combination), depo provera shot, and one or two iuds.
Avatar f tn Lesion not only feed off Estrogen they have Estrogen in them as well. If the Endo is not excised completely it will continue to grow no matter what med you are on to stop the periods. You could also possible have Adenomyosis not sure if you have heard of that but it goes hand in hand with Endo. Let me know where abouts you live so I can find you a surgeon in your area that knows what he/she is doing.
1467678 tn?1370941532 i was thinking about maybe trying maca capsules as i have heard that maca will help to boost progesterone therefor if my body is not in balance as in too much estrogen this might help? i am due for a period about now so i will soon see over the next week how i go but just incase it doesnt arrive your help would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn If you were using Depo-Provera it may take longer for your cycles to return to normal. Keep in mind that Depo-Provera is designed to be a long-lasting form of birth control. Even though it is intended to help you avoid pregnancy for up to three months, it may actually prevent pregnancy longer. Depo-Provera is a synthetic hormone similar to progesterone.
Avatar n tn What is the best way to do this? Everyone talks about the Depo Provera, but what is the side effects and would this by any chance bring problems in the near future when we want to concieve a baby?
Avatar f tn Recently, Me and My Boyfriend had un-protected sex.. and afterwards i started bleeding. we haven't had sex in a week, what could time be a sign of.. I am on Depo Provera-the birth control shot?
3113005 tn?1341773834 I am little confused by your question. The depo provera shot is given once every three months not for three months at some unspecified interval. If you mean that you received the depo shot 4 months ago, and hence, the last month, you did not get a repeat depo shot, then the answer to your question is, yes, you can get pregnant. I was on the depo shot for about 5 years before stopping to try to conceive. It took me 3 years to conceive my son who is 6 years old.
