Avatar f tn Estrogen-injected cattle, birth control pill residue in our rivers and lakes, rare side effects of steroid treatments, pseudo-estrogen from soy products, pseudo-estrogen from BPA in baby bottles and cans - nothing will ever be proven but there sure is a hormonal mess out there...

Avatar n tn I think it is actually normal as boys start going through puberty. It can happen in both breasts or just one. It is due to hormones and the ratio of testosterone to estrogen production. something like 70% of boys have this. However, it is always best to run these things by the doctor. If it is hot and red, thats an infection. That would definately require a doctor's visit. our peditrician will take phone calls.
1654035 tn?1332425178 I am now having my second girl and really the pregnancy has felt very similiar. No morning sickness or food aversions. Fatigue, but that has gone away in the second trimester. As far as carrying I think I am carrying lower this time but I am not 100% sure. So do you girls think this is true?
Avatar f tn s very normal for every woman to want a daughter, especially with twin boys haha, you need some more estrogen in your house!! I'm praying you get your baby girl!
Avatar f tn ve heard where boys might be a little blood because of all the hormones passed on through him, like estrogen. But I would definitely call to make sure everything is ok.
Avatar m tn What you have could be a cyst or an infection or a benign condition called Gynecomastia, which usually occurs in teenage boys caused by hormonal imbalance and also to some men when there is a high levels of estrogen that promotes glandular tissue growth. Gynecomastia could also be caused by taking certain prescribed medication, which could have steroid properties or the use of illicit drugs. Even alcohol can also cause the condition.
Avatar m tn Hi, Your story is atypical of obese boys going through pubertal development, initial testosterone gets converted to estrogen in the fat tissues and as the testosterone level picks up normal manly features develop. So, as such I do not think you have any reason to worry. Try to reduce your fat, take balanced food and do moderate exercise and over a few years, the gynecomastia should get subsided of its own.
Avatar m tn Hi, It is very common for boys of your age (about 65%) to have some breast development, which would get converted to muscles and get covered by hairs as you complete puberty by the age of 18 to 20 years. The condition is known as Gynecomastia, and you can Google to get more info on this developmental process. Mostly it is a self awareness problem and others may not notice at all as it is a common characteristic of most of the pubertal boys.
Avatar m tn It is thought that the phytoestrogens in soy can cause feminization of boys and early puberty onset in girls. It may be a little more expensive than soy, but sometimes it can be covered by your insurance if your pediatrician writes a prescription for it.
Avatar m tn re already dealing with thryoid issues, as the estrogen levels are still affected by the thryoid and vice versa, whether male or female. It is estrogen in particular that soy affects in a huge way. Dr. Mercola explains more thoroughly and better than I can even begin to repeat why the traditionally fermented soy products are the only soy products that are even safe to consume.
Avatar f tn Congrats! I have 2 insane little boys running around so I need some more estrogen around Here!!!!
Avatar m tn It is due to the testosterone being converted into estrogen to give you growth spurt and would vanish in course of your pubertal development. Read from the following link more about pubertal development and especially read under ' Hormonal changes in boys ' where specific mention of this effect is mentioned: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puberty Neverthless, do mention this to your doctor during your next physical, so that he could reassure you.
Avatar n tn And also estrogen is the common hormone in boys and girls that is required for growth, in boys, it is produced by conversion of testosterone, so, I would expect it to be low in boys during growth period. If you have any contra information, please let me know. You could as well check this with your endo?. For various stages of puberty, you may refer the following link: http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar m tn Armidex may not prolong his growth period much longer with such an advanced bone age, it is a medication used to block estrogen effect, also used in breast cancer, there are concerns with the liver but if monitored carefully most have few side effects. However with a bone age of 17 1/2 growth is near completion. I would work with the peds endocrinologist and talk with them to discuss your concerns, plan of care and monitoring.
14087915 tn?1432837804 I'm in ur situation. . I have 2 boys from my previous marriage a 17 year old n a 6 year old. Now I'm pregnant with my current huaband. He of course wants a boy Cuz it's his only baby but I kinda want a girl cuz I have all boys. But then I get scared if it's a girl cuz I'm not sure how to take care of girl n don't have much time to dedicate to a girl cuz of work. So sometimes I want another boy instead.
Avatar f tn 16 is a high enough level for them to implant. With this pregnancy my prog level was only an 11 and that was taken at 14dpo. Doc did put me on 400mg prometrium until I was 12 weeks along. I am now 22 weeks and all is well. Good Luck!
Avatar f tn I've just had to stop taking the bc pill, because of a blood clot in my right leg. Now I'm having my first period in years without the pill, and boy, it's not pleasant. I've had the mini pseudo-flare before for PMS, but this is awful. I know they've been doing estrogen therapy for MSers, and it's been pretty successful, I would go back on the pill in a second if I wasn't worried about blood clots.
Avatar m tn My son will be 15 years old next week. His pediatrician feels he should be further along in puberty (he's stage 2). He is 5'7 and weighs 180lbs. After seeing an endocrinologist who ran all types of blood work which came back normal with the exception of his estrogen level a bit higher then normal and had an X-ray of his hand which showed bones of a 13 half to 14 half yr old (I was told was good ) want to give my son arimidex. My question is......is this safe for teen boys.
Avatar f tn I am high risk for bp because birth control with estrogen gives me high bp but without the estrogen I am fine
1515796 tn?1290566361 I'm a 29 year old female and have had 3 live children(boys)...I have suffered 4 miscarriages, and just found out yesterday I'm 4 weeks pregnant again. I have had heart palpitations since my 3rd son was 5 months old...he is 18 months now. I started having the heart palpitations again today! Followed with heat flashes! I know it can be normal?? But it concerns me...I have told my OBGYN and they are monitoring my hcg and progesterone levels. I have had numerous ests done, and all normal.
429647 tn?1249753429 only to find out that her cancer is estrogen postive and probably caused or in some part aided in the growth of her masses. This is a very touchy subject on this forum, and as much as I love and adore Mary, she and I are on opposite sides on this one. Flashes are horrid, I will agree that I have had a really tough time with them as well as the other symptoms of menopause....but, you know what....I am alive. Gather all the facts you can....best of luck.
Avatar f tn The estrogen is kicking in with a vengeance and my poor husband has to just grin and bare it all. I think after this pregnancy he will think carefully before attempting to make number 2. Are you experiencing the same?
Avatar f tn Then I went to another gyno who said that recent studies have proved that estrogen only with uterus in tact is safer that in fact it's the progesterone that is toxic. Is anyone receiving the same advice?
Avatar f tn Thank you for your last response. I did see a dermatologist and she said the marks on my legs were sun spots. However now I have many other questions. Mt Melanoma was "in situ", which I hear is great. But now I am trying to do all I can to prevent it from coming back. I have recently read that both estrogen and vitamin C have been linked to increasing Melanoma. Is this true?
