I have heard that men wanting to either reassign their gender or simply to dress as women can take estrogen and that it minimizes the male genitals after a while, but have never heard how much. The only man I ever talked to who was into dressing female, looked great (in other words, you would not be able to tell he was anything but a very striking woman) even in a swimsuit, and although he was doubtless taking hormones, he had not had an operation.
I've read on plenty of forums of women have outbreaks during ovulation. Estrogen levels are higher during ovulation, and there are studies showing that estrogen is linked to herpes. This is why women seem to have herpes more than men. It is just that women present more than men do because we have more estrogen. I have been feeling rubbish for the last 3 months, with all joints aching, starting in hands and spreading to all, stiff, numbness and tingling like pins and needles, exhaustion, major anxiety (which I do suffer from PTSD and anxiety anyway), irritability, nausea, vertigo, very poor cognitive function, memory loss, very weak, hard to get to sleep and sleep very broken, vision often poor and any physical activity such as even a shower exhausts me.

One of the hot flashes lasted in excess of 3 hours and left me completely drained of energy. For the past 5 months I have been on a tablet Angeliq and although the hot flashes are less, they still occur at the most inconvenient times. The doctor recently advised me to add a Premarin tablet (the green one, small dose) to the Angeliq and I now have one or two hot flashes every day. It is getting to the stage where I feel that I cannot take it anymore and don't know which way to turn.
You don't mention having had your testosterone tested before, so it sounds like you don't really know for sure if the hot flashes are caused by a drop in testosterone. (Your testosterone might be the same level it has always been.) If you want to test the notion that the low testosterone has caused the hot flashes, take the testosterone for a month, and see if the hot flashes go away.
