Avatar n tn I took birth control for about 8 years. I decided to stop, just for the hell of it (I originally went on birth control to get my period back because it had stopped once I went to college and played soccer in college and was exercising more than I ever had) So after I stopped, about 3 months after, my hair had started falling out at crazy amounts. I would say I lost like 40% of my hair. All hormone levels were normal, thyroid normal, etc.
Avatar f tn What you may notice is symptoms of estrogen deficiency. I had quite a few estrogen deficiency symptoms for the next four months after surgery due to my left ovary being removed. The other ovary eventually takes over the duties of the ovary that was removed....thankfully! To help with estrogen deficiency symptoms, there are phytoestrogen supplements that mimic estrogen such as Soy, Black Cohosh, Ginseng, Red Clover or **** Quai.
594914 tn?1245263684 Hey what is the purpose for estrogen meds. My Doc put me on them and he said he wants me to start them next month if my cycle comes.... What good does this do for me?
Avatar n tn m not waiting for the results. It cuts estrogen production by 95%. All three of my cancers were estrogen-dependent. Gimme that Aromasin!
Avatar n tn Is it common for the cancers to be estrogen positive in one breast and estrogen negative in the other
Avatar f tn I actually had trouble with the pill as my lactation (ugh, really NOT cool when you are a single girl with no children . . . LOL) was due to too much estrogen and many pills are estrogen based. So, you'd have to talk to your doctor to see which pill if any would work in the situation of a hormonal imbalance.
Avatar f tn How is your estrogen and your DHEA-S? When your doc tests your testosterone, does he test bio-available testosterone, and does the doc test sex binding hormones, LH, FSH, to get the entire pic of your androgens and how your body is using the testosterone? Estrogen and testosterone and very very closely related - so it could be that your testosterone is simply converting over to estrogen instead of staying as testosterone. This cannot be controlled really - it just happens.
587083 tn?1327120262 With menopause your body stops making estrogen. Eating soy products seems to boost the estrogen a bit, but is that good? I was a regular consumer of soy milk, tofu, edamame and flax seed after menopause. After my diagnosis of breast cancer (estrogen positive) my oncologist recommended I avoid soy products because even the weak phytoestrogens may stimulate cancer cells. Research is not conclusive but better to be safe. As the addage goes, 'all things in moderation.
Avatar f tn worst months ever!!! Then I was given Yasmin. When my now husband, and I wanted to try for kids, we got pregnant instantly(right after last pill of pack)& we had three children by my age of 24(single births) I am now almost 30, & I am still super fertile(post laproscopy,&lupron,Yasmin) and haven't had any problems with returning endo, and I continue to take Yasmin.
Avatar m tn Endometriosis feed off estrogen. The estrogen-dependent endo lesions, if left unchecked, will begin to create their own estrogen. I do want to clarify that the pill or any other form of HRT does not prevent the Endometriosis from growing. The reason it is used is to help stop the pain by stopping the periods. I was on a low dose BCP (Marvelon) for 8 yrs continuously and did help with my pain. However it still continued to grow even after deep excision surgery.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your last response. I did see a dermatologist and she said the marks on my legs were sun spots. However now I have many other questions. Mt Melanoma was "in situ", which I hear is great. But now I am trying to do all I can to prevent it from coming back. I have recently read that both estrogen and vitamin C have been linked to increasing Melanoma. Is this true?
Avatar n tn Does anyone happen to know if there has been a connection with too much estrogen causing more neuropathy pain?? Anyone experience the onset of neuropathy after a hysterectomy? I would appreciate any info.
Avatar f tn The estrogen is kicking in with a vengeance and my poor husband has to just grin and bare it all. I think after this pregnancy he will think carefully before attempting to make number 2. Are you experiencing the same?
Avatar m tn All I know is that after you get pregnant you can use an ovulation monitor as a pregnancy test since it can tell an increase just like when you ovulate. I'm not sure how soon after ovulation it works though.

404837 tn?1290609027 it is thinning the lining. Anyway, I went back for a second u/s and it has thickened a bit...however he gave me estrogen, Enjuvia, at .625 mg. He told me to take it until I get my surge. Which will probably be about 3 days. Is estrogen safe and has anybody ever had to do this?
Avatar f tn I had a friend who was on clomid and estrogen (clomid helped her get pregnant, but thinned her lining, so the estrogen helped counter that), then she went on progesterone as soon as she got a bfp. and found this on healthywomen . org "During the reproductive years, the pituitary gland in the brain generates hormones that cause a new egg to be released from its follicle each month. As the follicle develops, it produces estrogen, which causes the lining of the uterus to thicken.
393685 tn?1425812522 Female hormone imbalance The ovaries produce many hormones. Chief among them are estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. The ovarian hormones estrogen and progesterone interact to coordinate a woman’s menstrual cycle during her reproductive years. The brain produces the hormones follicle stimulating hormones (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) which trigger hormone production from the ovaries.
