Common Questions and Answers about Estrogen for ivf

189192 tn?1261341628 I went through ivf and was taking estrogen to thicken the lining after my retrieval (i.e. after O). Since implantation does not happen for a few days after O I guess estrogen has time to do its magic. My lining on the day of my retrieval was not very thick (around 7.5) but my ob did not seem to be all that concerned. I was taking estrogen pills because it's what all ivf patients do not because he thought there was a problem. I got my bfp so I guess he was right.
Avatar f tn Can l get pregnant naturally or must l have to go for IVF. lf IVF can l still use my own eggs. l will appreciate any advice, thank. This discussion is related to estrogen and fsh question.
Avatar f tn My retrieval is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 10:30am. I triggered last night at 10:30pm. For the past day and a half though, I've been getting a ton of the egg white cervical mucous. I'm so nervous that I'm going to accidently ovulate before retrieval. Is the egg white cervical mucous (EWCM) normal during the IVF cycle? I've heard we get EWCM because of elevated estrogen levels, which anyone going through IVF obviously has, but I just want to make sure.
1052633 tn?1311872678 s going to affect my ability to have a successful IVF procedure. has anybody else been diagnosed with high estrogen but had a successful IVF?
Avatar f tn I have some ideas abt Ivf but not iui , cause am doing Ivf day 7 on meds and am really worried didn't get so good news yesterday.
Avatar n tn Well, the doctor who did my transfer told me to take 2 estrodial per day and 3 prometrium per day and shot of progesterone every other day and I wasn't due to go back until my pregnancy test 10/7. However, I was unhappy with several lapses in care that I received along the process so I switched and they immediately started doing my blood levels every 3-4 days. I guess it helps them to keep your hormones where they need to be to support pregnancy.
404837 tn?1290609027 it is thinning the lining. Anyway, I went back for a second u/s and it has thickened a bit...however he gave me estrogen, Enjuvia, at .625 mg. He told me to take it until I get my surge. Which will probably be about 3 days. Is estrogen safe and has anybody ever had to do this?
Avatar f tn t get pregnant after four to six cycles on an ovulatory dose of clomid, seek referral to a fertility specialist, who will discuss treatment either with shots of FSH or with IVF. adding estrogen and/or progesterone in the latter part of the cycle after taking clomid also can help, and may be a reasonable alternative to moving on to more advanced therapy. clomid can be a double edged sword- it helps you ovulate, but also may disrupt your uterine lining.
Avatar f tn Heather is correct, after my IVF I was not monitored for estrogen at all. I had estrogen supplements once a day but that wsa it.
282812 tn?1225110981 I know there are alot of different protocols the doctors use for IVF. My 1st IVF I wasnt on birth control but this cycle I am. My RE says that the lupron supresses your estrogen...I took lupron last time and a pretty small dose along with follistem and menapur and I didnt have enough eggs..RE thinks the lupron mightve been the cause of that so now he changed my protocol to higher doses of follistem and menapur and instead of regular lupron im taking micro lupron...
Avatar f tn I'm sorry about your cancelled cycle. You will probably still ovulate on yopur own (if you normally do). I would use OPK's or an Ov. monitor to make sure. Did your RE say he was going to change your protocol for your next IVF attempt?
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, every women's body is different and is affected by these meds differently as well. Ganirelix was fine for me not for nshapland. This whole ivf stimming meds is all a learning process for ourselves and for our docs. I'm not sure why your doc wouldn't also put you on another med as well as follistim but i can tell you from my own experience that i don't respond well to follistim on its own.
212720 tn?1304375415 ) This time around doctor wants to do Clomid, Estrogen and Progesterone. Anyone else have this mix of meds and how fast did it work? Doctor said it does increse my chances an addl 20% each month.
183933 tn?1290216962 Response to follistim is dependent on your body. Too much and you just get more follicles quality is better than quantity. Although for IVF they want more than with IUI.Also how mature were the follicles. It may just be too earlyin the cycle.
1267764 tn?1302436340 I recently found out I'm BFP! After my 2nd cycle of IVF. I'm so excited, but also worried abt eating the right things now and the right supplements. My doctor recommended that I continue my progesterone but he said to discontinue the estrogen, does that sound correct? Also any recommendations on diet changes?
Avatar f tn I had IVF implantation on Sunday the 3rd. Today I had blood work done at the Dr's office and my Estrogen and Progesterone levels dropped "a smidgen" according to the nurse. They are having me increase my Progesterone shots from 1cc to 1.5ccs and get an Estrogen patch. The nurse says that this doesn't mean that the procedure didn't take but I am worried. It sounds like a bad sign. My question is for other people who have had IVF. Has this happened to you?
5221069 tn?1366618397 Your lining will be monitored thruout your ivf cycle. Progesterone is given during ivf. The start dates of supplemental hormones estrogen, progesterone and most likely baby aspirin are linked to the egg recovery date. Most commonly used are progesterone suppositories and estrogen tablets or patches. Some clinics check your levels after about a week to make sure your supplementation is adequate. Acupuncture Pre and post implantation of embryos is the most crucial time to receive acupuncture.
1047147 tn?1328906154 I was thinking, Of course while we all go through this process of Ivf we ask ourselves questions thats why i love this forum. My fsh level previous times was 12, then 9.2 and now 4....after one 3cm fibroid removal.. I was on estrace/estradiol and progesterone..for a month. Is this a temporary estrogen fix as i would call it, will my fsh levels rise again.. The Re says my levels are perfect right now and will proceed with putting me back on lupron and etc....
973741 tn?1342342773 I was on estrogen replacement for years after my hysterectomy. I had few concerns about taking it, since I was young when I had my ovaries removed, and the benefits outweighed the risks. I'm not on it now, but am thinking about going back on it. The hot flashes are a killer, and I won't even go into the vaginal dryness.
Avatar f tn But either way, since this is an IVF cycle, you will be on estrogen supplements anyway to help thicken the lining and get it ready for implantation. And just FYI, I wouldn't try any natural remedies to alter your hormone levels. Certain herbs, for example, can actually interfere with the medication you will be taking....so always ask your doctor first! Best of luck!!!

400358 tn?1320234443 Anyone going to be trying for a IVF in December?? We are planning on doing a FET on Dec.
Avatar f tn My RE put me on lupron as my estrogen levels were a bit elevated. The prefer for your estradiol (estrogen) levels to be low as it helps with the stimulate you, along with stims of course. If this is the first time you take Lupron, know that shots aren't bad at all, but it may delay you next period by a week or so. Hope this helps.
