Avatar m tn re basically losing the ability to make estrogen, which is needed for muscle development. If you deprive them of that estrogen too early in their life, they lose muscle tone, or don't develop enough muscle tone, in their bladder, and subsequently, leak all over the place. **** (*What the internet says: Urinary incontinence may be caused by an underdeveloped urinary system or may arise as a part of the aging process.
Avatar f tn Natural HRT will prove to be quite helpful for health and longevity in previously spayed female dogs. The PAAWS Vitamin product alone in the canine lifetime 13 year study found an increase in healthy years by up to 30% which equals 2-4 extra healthy years. Adding in natural HRT would increase this even further.
1771664 tn?1317686285 The thing is, with herbs and dogs....some herbs which are fine for humans to take can be toxic for dogs. So the best plan if you want to go down that route is seek advice (and after all the checks etc have been done with your regular vet -which Ghilly mentioned)....get a consultation with a Herbal Vet or even a Homeopathic Vet. I'll just mention one thing which may be of some help while you sort out what might be causing this. DOGGY DIAPERS! They are wonderful....
Avatar n tn Does anyone happen to know if there has been a connection with too much estrogen causing more neuropathy pain?? Anyone experience the onset of neuropathy after a hysterectomy? I would appreciate any info.
Avatar m tn Thank you very much for the speedy reply. I am currently seeing the vet who performed the surgery and he said nothing was abnormal. whether or not she was incontinent before the surgery I am not sure, I am trying to contact the foster family to see if they would know, judging from when I met them, which I hate to do, they either know and shut up or didn't pay attention to it because she was kenneled outside 24/7.
Avatar m tn Breeding dogs should never be about money or about teaching children what life is all about or breeding just because you like you ***** and want a puppy out of her because she is cute. I studied and showed my dogs for 16 years BEFORE I went on to breed my first litter; I am a breeder and own a well known kennel.
Avatar n tn Having her shipped in the cabin would be the safest way. Service dogs, such as therapy dogs, seeing eye dogs and other guide dogs, and dogs for the deaf, are allowed to be shipped in the cabin, with their human.
1357161 tn?1295553740 I have two 19 month old Siberian Huskies and they are both house broken and crated when no one is home. The one will urinate in her crate every time she is in there, even if it is only for a couple hours. She will go all day in the house without going out and never an accident, but will always urinate in her crate. They are crate side by side so it's not like she is alone. Any suggestions on what I can try? I get so tired of washing her bedding day after day.
Avatar n tn Urinary incontinence is a common disorder of older female dogs, as many as 20% of neutered ******* develop it at some point in their lives. The reason is usually urethral sphincter mechanism incompetence (USMI).
Avatar n tn hi i have a female german shepherd about 10 months old and for the last 2 days she is bleeding from her vergina (vulva ) and there are blood drops on my floor and her vergina is a bit swell. what should i do???
Avatar n tn I had a shower this morning, in the evening i went to the gym for about 3 hours. came back using the washroom. When i pull down my panty a large lump of white secretion on my panty and a lots stuck to my virgina. This is the first time that i've seen so much at once. I don't have a yeast infection. Can you help?
Avatar n tn There are many brands out there. Good ones will have NO gluten and NO grains (this includes rice and corn), a good protein source (meat, fish, eggs, tofu, or poultry), green leafy vegetables, sweet potato, berries and some other fruit, fish oil (containing DHA), vitamins, minerals, probiotics, and digestive enzymes. The good food does not have to every single ingredient that I have listed, but will contain many of the ingredients.
Avatar n tn You might call your veterinarian and ask about safe and approved arthritis medications for dogs. A good exam should also be done, along with blood work and a urinalysis to help determine what is ailing her. When was her last physical? Frequent urination can be a sign of anything from metabolic type of diseases to urinary tract infections to bladder stones. Although many of these symptoms are common for older pets, they are also signs that something is wrong and needs to be addressed.
Avatar f tn Is there a reason you have not at least had the female spayed? As these are mixed breed dogs I hope you are not planning to breed them. You need to at least spay the female since an unspayed runs the risk of developing pyometra, a life threatening infection of the uterus, every time she goes through a heat cycle, which will be twice a year for the duration of her life.
Avatar m tn I'm a 59 y/o postmenopausal female that was recently diagnosed with osteoporosis with a T score of -3.2. Was sent to an endocrine doc and did several blood tests as well. The doc wanted to start me on hormone therapy and injections based on my bone density test. I was prescribed the estrogen Duavee 20 mg daily and Prolia 60 mg shots every 6 months. Has anyone had experience with Duavee or Prolia?
Avatar f tn Hi-It is important to differentiate between a urinary tract infection and urinary incontinence which is a another common cause of "accidents" in older spayed female dogs leeking urine. Broad spectrum antibiotics like Baytril and Orbax are effective for many canine urinary infections and your vet will be able to best help with this.
Avatar f tn Someone asked for suggestions on what to feed itchy dogs/dogs with allergies, though I couldn't find the original question. Anyways, I had suggested grain-free dog foods with limited ingredients, (as most allergic reactions come from food). I just came across another one, by **** Van Patten, "Natural Balance" "Limited Ingredients Diets" which is grain-free and (comes in a purple bag, Sweet Potato & Venison formula).
Avatar m tn , etc... A raw diet is even better, as raw meat contains enzymes cooked out of dry food, which dogs need for optimal health. Also, I found out (through many hours of searching) about a product called "Fresh Factors" by SpringtimeInc.com . A lady was using this supplement for her dog just to give her dog the necessary enzymes/nutrients not present in cooked kibble, (that are found in raw food).
Avatar m tn I had a reaction, got sick for one day, but the pain was gone for a week after that (not taking the Bactrim). After the pain came back, I was instructed to try the Bactrim again; got sick almost immediately, and again the pain was gone for a week. I have not taken the Bactrim since that one. Well, I finally got an ultrasound. I was informed that I had "a bit" of gynecomastia in the right nipple.
Avatar m tn Hello, I'm sorry that I forgot to add that. Both males are neutered and the female is spayed. Let me clarify also that when I say that Jeff "finished", his whole genitalia was out, like when dogs are "finished" breeding. I apologize for being graphic.
Avatar f tn t, appears you have many clear signs of estrogen dominance. I believe estrogen to progesterone should be 2:1 (according to more naturopath MDs) and that is what I strive for, but definitely get many of the symptoms you list above when my estrogen gets too high. Saw 3 traditional OBGYNs + 2 internists who were of no help to me and their primary solution was BCP then finally got relief from a preventative medicine MD.
