1258539 tn?1293840202 I have severe anxiety/depression/depersonalization. I went to my doctor yesterday and he said that my numbers for estrogen are low because I have so much anxiety/depression that my body is using up the estrogen where it shouldn't be. He said that if I got my anxiety/depression under control then my estorgen would go where it should. Has anyone ever heard of this? And he put me on Cymbalta 60 mg but I only took 30 mg last night as I was scared to try something new.
Avatar n tn Hi, I got the Implanol inserted about 6 weeks ago. I was feeling a little depressed before i got it inserted (i've been away from home from almost a year going to school...it's a bit much), but somehow the depression seemed to get worse. I've noticed i get very emotional because of things i normally never got teary eyed for. I cry often and don't feel like getting out of the house at all. Socializing, like going clubbing or to a bar, seem like such a hard task.
Avatar f tn Estrogen deficiency is what occurs from loss of an ovary. And depression is common from premature estrogen deficiency. This study talks about it (copy and paste into your web browswer) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6196781/ Depression is treatable though. Your doctor could visit the idea of hormone replacement. But probably a better idea is treatment for depression that could be short term. An SSRI can be very beneficial at times like this.
Avatar f tn My blood work came back and I have low estrogen levels. The insurance won't cover the medication I was prescribed. Does anyone have an idea of a generic brand I can take or something over the counter?
Avatar n tn Hypothyroidism can cause depression and in men it can cause low testosterone levels which also can cause depression. Hypothyroidism can also cause B 12, Calcium and Vit. D deficiencies. So the answer to your question the chicken came first. It is important that you keep taking your replacement testosterone as it can cause issues of it's own. I'm not sure about the estrogen relationship. If your taking your meds and still feeling depressed maybe you need a adjustment in your meds.
Avatar m tn Are both ovaries gone because you might have to have estrogen certain amount. Some people suffer from depression have to get right meds effexron worked for me . With seroquel. Is also for bipolar. Don't give on trying to find a doctor that will help you.
Avatar f tn Your estrogen levels are way too high. Total estrogen normal reference range: Day 1 - 10: 61 - 394pg/mL, Day 11–20: 122–437 pg/mL; Day 21–30: 156–350 pg/mL. High estrogen leads to excessive production of thyroid binding globulin (TBG). Although there are enough thyroid hormones in the blood, they are not taken up by the body's cells as they are inactivated by TBG. In other words, thyroid labs are in range but you have signs of low thyroid function.
Avatar n tn Hello, my wife had a full hysterectomy approximately 10 years ago and everything was taken out, EVERYTHING. She had a few cysts and her gynecologist suggested a full hysterectomy due to the fact that the cysts could come back if she were to get a a half hysterectomy. Long story short, she's a strong woman who really keeps it together but she has recently expressed that she's been battling depression.
Avatar f tn I have a 21 yr male who has low testosterone levels and high estrogen levels. He has gynecomastitis, overweight, depressed, and insomnia. Any advice on treatment option!
Avatar n tn Of corse you must discuss with your doctor what she or he thinks is best or you,,and then YOU decide...Estrogen helps with depression, vaginal lubrication and sex-drive,,it is also claimed to reduce or minimize bone density issues.. Pleas look into it...Best wishes..
12975971 tn?1428009678 My estrogen was low, but my Progesterone (the happy hormone) was even lower in ratio to Estrogen. Progesterone can convert into Estrogen if your body needs it. She also gave me a homeopathic remedy that fit my symptoms. I no longer feel depressed and am no longer crying at the drop of a hat. It took a few weeks to a month. I am under stress even today, and it continues to work for me. I am in late stage peri at 53 years old.
Avatar f tn Getting the right type and dose of estrogen has cured my depression and greatly improved the other symptoms. With your menopausal symptoms and headaches, it sounds like your body is not producing enough estrogen (and maybe testosterone and progesterone) for YOUR needs despite being told that "there is nothing wrong." Your thyroid may also be "on the fritz" due to the added stress of what appears to be compromised ovarian function.
Avatar f tn o have had a lot of depression an anxiety over the years with low levels of energy...i was put on premarin after hytrectomy and i stayed on it for yeras but ran out of insurnce..so i just now at 50 got put on the low dose patch estradiol...i have been on anxiwty drugs for twenty years and was doing aoaky till a few years back so i wanted to see if the estrogen would help me...i need my sex drive back will it help with that and my mood and vagianl dryness...
Avatar f tn Mayfly, It is so hard to say if the patch of Vivelle caused the weight gain. This is such a complicated subject. I am wondering if your body was making Estrogen in the form of Estrone (which is the 'menopause' estrogen that is made as a by-product from the fat in our system... and this fat is what causes the fat around our middle section so that it is readily available for use by the body since women's bodies crave estrogen)...
Avatar n tn ve looked it up on the internet that no estrogen can cause insomnia and other problems like depression too. I have been sad and experiencing more anxiety just because I'm not getting sleep like I use to. I went to a neurologist who thinks I have obstructive sleep apnea. I don't think I do. I'm not overweight and I barely snore. I'm thinking of calling a different gynecologist to see if they can do some blood work and see if the real problem for my insomnia is no estrogen.
Avatar f tn Hello, my worst symptom is almost constant nausea- ranges from mild to severe, no vomiting, normal bowel movements.
Avatar f tn Yes, I do believe that there is benefit for us women as far as the Estrogen goes. But, for me, I was on the Estrogen for all my treatments and I still didn't clear. It's not been too bad for me as far as the weaning off the Estrogen though. Back to the topic, sex drive. Like I said above, there as other factors involved in my situation, but I think that the Hep C is one of the factors.
Avatar n tn t had any problems until a few months ago. Insomnia is bad, sweats at night, anxiety, moodiness and low depression. Now I'm wanting to see about getting back on it. I'm 45 now. Any advise? Has anyone done this?
Avatar f tn But not for this long. And now depression, no sex drive, major hot flashes, and bad insomnia. Nobody can answer me on how much longer. I think I ran my only ova into the ground. What should I do?
Avatar f tn I was in a Boceprevir study and they let me continue my HRT through it, so my estrogen level was constant. I did SVR. I have always wondered if the reason I didn't have mood swings and depression was because I my estrogen was consistent. If I *had* been producing my own, it would have still been affected by the heavy meds whereas the patch was not.
Avatar f tn 1mg patch for several years with no problems. Lately, I have been having symptoms of low estrogen like hot flashes. Unfortunately, my gyn oncologist has retired so I have been seeing my regular ob for my yearly follow up. When I mentioned this to him at my last exam he basically told me unfortunately I am on the highest patch dose and he does not want me to take oral estrogen since there are higher risks so nothing he could do.
Avatar n tn I am now 45. I have not had estrogen since 2015. Insomnia is bad, anxiety is higher, and depression has been around more. Nothing in my life has changed. I don't know why I all of a sudden I don't feel like my old self. I am going to see my old Gyn on Monday. I am sure he will not be happy with me going off the premarin. Do you think it is possible this is menopause or the beginning I am going through?
