Avatar m tn Hair loss due to alcohol consumption is mainly due to the fact that alcohol affects the levels of estrogen and zinc in the body, which subsequently affect hair growth. Excessive drinking RAISES the level of estrogen, high levels of estrogen result in hair loss. Excessive drinking REDUCES zinc levels in the body. Zinc is essential for healthy hair growth. In addition, constant consumption of alcohol can also induce a lower level of vitamins B and C in your body.
285777 tn?1231609844 When you have high levels of Testo, your brain ( Hypothalamus and pituitary ) should have sensed the same and correspondingly reduced the levels of LH and FSH, but as per the report, it does not happen, which means, there is some problem with the negative feedback in the brain. It may be due to some problem with the testo receptors in the brain, or due to reduced level of free testo in circulation. So you should also check the free testo in the blood.
Avatar f tn RAving Odd you bring that up - I am happy you found zinc and copper in your conversation with your doctor and that supports why me taking zinc made it somewhat better. but another suprise you mention is the estrogen dominance thing. I recently had been given that ( last month) too. I now take progestrone to balance that out - but oddly the "lump" on my gum I found last week just popped up now mysterily - it's gone. No need to go to the dentist as I planned......
Avatar f tn My tests show I have low estrogen (also taking birth control pill), decreased cortisol in the morning and increased at night and elevated DHEA. I'm just baffled as to why I am sweating so much. Should I get treated for the estrogen or should they level out once my thyroid is fixed? I am taking natural supplements for my adrenals and might want to try HC but I have heard not so good stories about it. Are there natural adrenal meds or how should I go abouts treating it?
Avatar f tn ve been reading about as I asked for progesterone and estrogen testing - thyroid was not something I considered. Thanks for any help or insight.
Avatar n tn Another reason for lack of menstruation after weight loss is poor nutrition, related to a lack of iron, zinc and lack of healthy dietary fats. Regardless of how much you exercise, or how much you weigh - if you have a lack of iron, zinc and healthy fat in your diet, you can develop amenorrhea' .............It has given me something to go at as I to am reluctant to take the prescribed pill so going to try adding Iron etc into my diet.

Avatar f tn Zinc is a mineral and as such is water soluable (your body takes what it needs and excretes the rest), and it is also good for your baby, so if you're not feeling well, go ahead and use those lozenges. Hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn The transition to menopause or perimenopause was formerly thought to involve dropping estrogen levels. Estrogen levels are now known to average 30% higher, to be chaotic, and to be associated with less progesterone.
296340 tn?1336164001 A well-balanced, nutrient-rich diet can help regulate a woman’s menstrual cycle and produce good quality cervical mucus, both of which are essential for conception. Foods that are high in vitamins B and C, zinc and fatty acids are among the best in helping a woman to become pregnant, and are more effectively absorbed and utilized by the body than supplements.
Avatar f tn He has been taking multivitamins and Vitamin C with Zinc and therefore I hope he is getting enough zinc intake and of course I also try to include zinc rich foods in his diet. Someone has also recommended acupuncture recently and he decided to go for it since at this stage we have nothing to lose. Tomorrow he will be going for repeat blood tests for FSH, LH, Prolactine and Testosterone and we will see whether there is any improvement.
Avatar n tn as I read about the study reported in the British Journal of Dermatology about using oral zinc for recalcitrant warts. but my doctor told me no that hes never heard of that and too much zinc is dangerous..the clinical trial they used up to 600mg of zinc a day..but Fourteen of the 23 zinc-treated patients had complete remission of their warts after one month of treatment. Complete clearance of warts was noted in 20 patients after two months...NO ONE in the Placebo group showed ANY improvements..
Avatar f tn I was without estrogen for some time in this year, and then I used local estrogen (Vagifem) and Vaginal balans. My vagina and vaginal atrium and urethra are in poor condition. I have also had osteopenia previously. And I have hypercalcemia, I should not use calcium pills. Could it be possible that I have cystitis or vaginitis? I hardly have any discharge from vagina. I had my first bacterial vaginitis in January this year. I had abnormal bleeding before it.
Avatar m tn I also am starting to take zinc and ordered some sweet almond oil. Zinc is supposed to be good for healing and the immune system and Ive read that the sweet almond oil is also a natural healer.
Avatar n tn There are are defenitive stgaes in puberty and late bloomers also will have to go through it.Gaining height is within the period of puberty. And also estrogen is the common hormone in boys and girls that is required for growth, in boys, it is produced by conversion of testosterone, so, I would expect it to be low in boys during growth period. If you have any contra information, please let me know. You could as well check this with your endo?.
Avatar f tn I did the saliva test, and results came back that I am estrogen dominant and dhea and prog. and test very low. So they pharmacist started me on 5 mg of dhea and also a progest. cream. Avatar n tn I wonder how much is effected in our multiple 5 hr car trips even though we stop every 1-2hrs. Or not enough iron zinc or C or my high estrogen since I nurse my twins and I was told I have excessive estrogen. Her tiny skinny legs all of a sudden became very thick like telephone pole legs around the same time mark appeared and her twin did not. She seemed to swell up espec around ankles and lower legs which are always cold no matter how we try to keep her warm.
Avatar f tn I just remembered how my hair fell out a lot after my first child was born, before I was hypoT. Maybe ANY hormonal imbalance contributes to hair loss? We all know how a limping thyroid throws the entire hormonal (aka endocrine) system out of balance. Perhaps once our thyroid is balanced, we still have to contend with getting all our other hormones balanced. Maybe having our thyroid back up and running isn't enough to repair and balance the rest of our system that got out-of-whack.
Avatar n tn m taking other vitamins, including Biotin, B complex, fish oil, iron, zinc, vitamin D, and magnesium, in hopes of encouraging hair growth, but my hair continues to fall out and it's becoming very concerning. I had my labs checked shortly before starting the DIM supplements and everything came back normal, though my TSH was fairly low (0.74), but my doctor said that the lower that number was, the better, despite the fact that I have thought I might have low thyroid for years.
Avatar m tn I have tried many multi-vitamins in the past and always find that something within them makes my stomach upset. Not sure if it is the iron or zinc but when i take the vitamins like B,C, D and Omegas I feel ok.
Avatar n tn Just the hormone treatment for now. However im encouraged to take supplments such as zinc and vitamin d etc to reduce the effect of hypothyroid.
Avatar f tn Studies indicate that severe zinc or selenium deficiencies can cause decreased thyroid hormone levels. Never take zinc on an empty stomach. Brazil nuts are high in both zinc and selenium. Coconut Oil: Buy organic, cold-pressed, coconut oil from a health food store. Take around 1 teaspoon of it daily. You can also use it to cook with, but be warned that it smokes at low cooking temperatures, so it should only be used for low-heat cooking.
12757438 tn?1433673730 I agreed, however now Belle’s health keeps yo-yoing back and forth. She was fine and tolerated some water and a few bites to eat and then the next time I talked to them she had peed bright orange was turning yellow and needed a blood transfusion. She is in the middle of her 80 ml. blood transfusion right now. They promised me she did not seem to be in pain and that other than the discoloration and declined labs she seems to be okay.
1475202 tn?1536270977 if it is from drinking alcohol then there can indeed be dramatic regression in the severity of the liver disease and even reversal of cirrhosis with ongoing sobriety. Zinc is well known to cause gastric upset so must always be taken with food. Unless the person has symptoms of encephalopathy we do not treat an elevated ammonia level.
Avatar m tn ve found that excessive zinc levels can deplete copper levels, causing neuropathy, heaviness and weakness in the extremities, and stabbing, itching and heat sensations in hands and feet. I have all of these symptoms and more. Is there anyone else out there who is experiencing this same thing?
Avatar m tn Note that many zinc products also contain another metal called cadmium. This is because zinc and cadmium are chemically similar and often occur together in nature. Exposure to high levels of cadmium over a long time can lead to kidney failure. The concentration of cadmium in zinc-containing supplements can vary as much as 37-fold. Look for zinc-gluconate products. Zinc gluconate consistently contains the lowest cadmium levels.
