Avatar m tn It will absorb the weeping - a healing reaction, by the way unless the weeping fluid is cloudy, thick, and quite uniquely painful with redness and swelling around your wound, most importantly has an offensive smell - you are in the healing stage, and with a powdered topical med forming an immediate scab you will be fine. Try to keep it dry...if you wet it during showers, gently blot dry immediately, disallowing the new scab to dissolve.
Avatar f tn I would have the doc look at it in case there is infection inside. If the strength of the site is compromised a wound can be pulled apart even much later. I once had an abdominal incision abscess and it nearly turned into gangrene. I'd call the doc at least, and if the drainage is not clear but like pus and/or has a bad odor, I would treat it with urgency.
Avatar f tn The outside of the incision has healed but I have a 0.3 x 0.3 on the outside and 11.5 depth of the wound. I am now having to go to the hosptial where i live to have the bandages changed once a day in the mornings, they say I will have to go back to the surgeon and have it looked at becuase i have not healed any since the week after the surgery.
Avatar m tn The vet says there is not enough skin left to close the wound again and claims that the area will eventually granulate, fill in and close up but the wound looks so daunting I'm doubting it will ever happen. I'm bringing her back every other day right now for bandage changes so the vet is seeing the wound pretty often. She's on a couple antibiotics and pain meds. Does anyone have any experience with this? Can a dog with a large, deep open wound heal up?
Avatar f tn Is this wound infected or healing? There's yellow gooey thing on top of my wound. Is it a scab or infection? I'm currently under Augmentin antibiotics and also i'm putting fucidin on top of my wound as suggested by my surgeon last two days. The wound is not pain and the yellow gooey thing is just there and cannot be wiped off. It's hard. No discharge as well. I didnt wanna go back to my doc as of now cos of the charges. Appreciate the help!! Picture: https://s.yimg.
Avatar f tn Also poor circulation just adds to the problem of the wound healing. You can probably expect a longer wound healing time and as the dr said debridement if needed. Hope this helps and good luck.
Avatar f tn I was wondering how long would a normal time be for healing from a wound? My dog seems to have a very slow healing time. She has hurt her paw before, which took forever to heal. And now the scab above her eye still isn't all the way healed. Is there something I can do to help her? It doesn't seem to bother her, but I want it to heal faster, so there won't be much room for infection or anything else to happen.
Avatar f tn I have not smoked for 2 months now and am not a drinker. I am highly active and go to the gym. I keep the wound clean and covered when I go to the Gym. I feel I am in fairly good shape and good health. Itake vitamins and eat lots. I am 54 years of age and am 5'7" and 138 lbs, with low body fat. I have a full time job, care for my grandchildren and parent. I also volunteer with community church 3 times a week. Any suggestions to what can be going on and what to do.
Avatar m tn Hi specialmom and thank you for answering! I attend a wound clinic every fortnight and am using medipore and aquacel,. I just shower every other day as they say to keep the bandage on as long as possible although this is now casing irratation as its been so long. The last time I was in the hospital last year the doctor told me to use a womans pad instead of bandages but this isnt practical as I'm not sure how that would protect and keep the wound clean.
1172359 tn?1310667693 I do hope they get to the bottom of your issue as to why its taken months and months and no sign of healing at all.
Avatar m tn initially i left that as it is but the wound was not healing faster (adding to the problem after the bath the skin which is kind of healing i.e turing brown comes of and skin is red ) so far no puss. the doctor also suggests to apply hibi cleanser.
Avatar m tn Also diabetes leads peripheral neuropathy, atherosclerosis etc which make wound healing troublesome. You need a culture sensitivity of wound scraping to know what antibiotics will suit the infection. If there is underlying dermatitis, then this needs to be taken care of. If there is severe atherosclerosis preventing blood supply to wound, then this needs to be diagnosed by angiograms. It is better to get this treated at a wound clinic.
Avatar n tn If the area around the wound is not healing, is dead and won't take stitches then you need to find a better vet. That dead tissue is a major problem......it is not only dead but spreading fatal bacteria. It needs to be 'taken' off to the layer of healthy tissue. Your cat is not eating or recovering because she is full of bacterial infection. If your Vet won't do anything...find another!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is a 911 situation!
Avatar n tn I haven't had them but you can look up manuka honey. It can and does speed the healing of wounds that I've used it on, usually 15+ or 20+ minimum. I'm not sure what the Dr said to put on it but depending on the level you get, it can be very effective. Internally, bone broth can help your body a bunch with wound healing, can be purchased but homemade is best.
Avatar f tn Since the bony flap is not taking up and there are no signs of healthy wound healing and new bone formation, she required exploration and reconstruction of the bony flap. Get her a reconstructive surgeon consult immediately to evaluate the status of bony flap and reconstruction under general anesthesia. Hope this helps. Take care.
Avatar m tn I have been recommended to have a laparoscopic bilateral salpingo oophrorectomy as a means of shutting down the estrogen my body continues to produce. I am 48 and had breast cancer 7 years ago which was estrogen receptor positive (meaning: estrogen makes this type of cancer grow faster). However, I was diagnosed early stage and there is no history of breast cancer in my family. I was treated with a lumpectomy followed by four rounds of chemo and 30+ rounds of radiation.
Avatar f tn the vet gave us to add inside the wound. The wound has not close at all and I am very concern that this will take more than a month to heal. I am very upset at the vet, because he blame everything on my dog, he should not scratch, but the tumor was on the right down of his neck and if he walks, sit of anything that area will always be moving. I would like to know if there anything else I can put on the dog wound and how long will it take to close that whole.
Avatar n tn I would like to know, why is it taking so long to heal and if it is advisable for me to see the surgeon again to reopen the wound. I am quite worried that it is not healing and cannot sleep well because of this. Is it common to bleed like that? What could be the possible cause?
Avatar m tn A month ago I was hospitalized for an infected wound in the back of my head as well as an abscess in my neck. Both were drained. Had taken a couple of antibiotics during my treatment. Now I've been off of antibiotics for a couple of weeks and my wound took a long time to close so I was given an antibiotic ointment. The wound closed as the scar is about the size of a nickle or quarter. but I accidentally wiped off what it appears to be an early form of scar in the middle of the entire scar.
Avatar m tn So I've gotten an abscess surgery and its been healing well for the past four weeks but I've noticed that the wound has suddenly gotten a bit bigger. The area around the wound is also purple/white. Why did my open wound get bigger after healing so well?? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I used a porta-potty at a local bus station, which was thoroughly disgusting - despite my needing to go. I urinated into the toilet, which contained fecal matter, toilet paper and other things typical to a porta-potty, and tried to stand back as far as I could. I also have a blister on my thumb which is healing, and I don't know if by touching the door that would increase a risk. Is there any HIV risk in using this type of a public restroom?
Avatar n tn They could be non healing due to underlying infection, low supply of oxygen to the wound that is reducing the healing process, underlying diabetes, or due to underlying dermatitis. Wounds heal slower in smokers or alcoholics who have been drinking for a long time. So these have to be ruled out. Also diabetes leads peripheral neuropathy, atherosclerosis etc which make wound healing troublesome. You need a culture sensitivity of wound scraping to know what antibiotics will suit the infection.
Avatar n tn I guess, the doctor would need to check the wound and tell what need to be done.
Avatar f tn It all started out, as what I remember a small little, what looked to me like a wart and it itched really bad. I thought it was just a little rash. I scratched it constantly. It's located right on my chest/neck area, between the two bones of my neck. After a week, it grew into a small dime sized leison on my neck. At this point it was just oozing, oozing and ozzing liquid (Yellow or white), and it was itchy. The surface of my skin is FLAT, no bumps or anything.
Avatar n tn Thanks Dr. HHH. Yes, I was mixing up fissure with fistulas. I know I'm thinking about this too in depth, but "intact" skin for all logical purposes of HIV risk includes open wounds/cuts/breaks in the skin such as healing wounds.
Avatar n tn 7 months is too long to let a wound go untreated. It could be infected, and you could have an underlying condition hampering the healing process. As koko says, Diabetes is one of them. Definitely get to a doctor.
