587083 tn?1327120262 Since menopause,I have consumed some natural product containing some kind of estrogen to control the night sweating, hot flashes.I drank milk made of soy,ate soy beans and tofu. Could this be the cause that my mammogram was abnormal?I have to have another mammogram and an ultrasound at the end of this month. am very worried and don't know what to think anymore.Maybe the natural things I ate, containing estrogen is the cause that I might have cancer?

Avatar f tn I am 50 years old and was diagnosed with estrogen positive breast cancer stage 1 with no lymph nodes affected. I am currently on tamoxifen. I am overwhelmed as to what to eat. I get even more confused each day. I have stopped eating red meat. What are the foods i should avoid, and can i eat soy for my stage? Also what about flax seeds?
Avatar m tn Hello. I just recently started taking Synthroid. I am a little concerned about something and I hope someone here can help me out :) I am a vegan (no meats, dairy, eggs). I do eat (in moderation) soy products, mostly tempeh (fermented soy), tofu and maybe some soy milk in my coffee. I've heard from several people that I will have to cut out all soy products because it interferes with the medication and is a huge contributing factor to my hypo. Is this true?
Avatar f tn The effect was noted in both estrogen-receptor–positive and –negative tumors, and with early- and late-stage cancers. Editorialists write that until additional studies can be undertaken in larger cohorts, "clinicians can advise their patients with breast cancer that soy foods are safe to eat and that these foods may offer some protective benefit for long-term health.
Avatar n tn I have been in full menopause for two years now (no periods and all the nasty symptoms) and I'm 46. I run 75 miles a week and cycle at least that many and it doesn't help my symptoms at all - not to be negative, but every woman is 1000% different than the other, so what works for one may not work for the other so its an utter **** shoot, really.
Avatar f tn Hi, My son has this as well and I am taking him to doctor's today. He is 6 and just getting his first 2 teeth in, so I'm not sure if it's hormonal. We eat an organic diet and he does eat tofu so not sure if this is doing something. What happened with your son?
Avatar f tn They eat miso soup for breakfast, soy sauce on everything (and real soy sauce is only lightly fermented and it has much more soy and estrogens in it than the sugar confection we call soy sauce in the US), munch on edamame at bars and clubs and at home for snacks, have at least one tofu or tempeh meal every day and put some tofu in their miso soup and in the soup they usually eat for lunch. They dip in natto, cook in soy oil, and put soy sauce on virtually everything.

Avatar f tn t care what people eat as long as they exercise balance and caution. I do use soy milk and I do eat tofu products, but not every day, and I avoid the soy derivatives because I don't think they're good for you. The same people who tell you not to eat soy generally say it's okay to eat fermented soy, such as tempeh and miso, which leads one to wonder, since they are also estrogenic.
Avatar f tn I have high blood pressure and a brian aneurysm and a pituitary brain tumor...had a hysterectomy 22years ago and was on HRT up til recently when this tumor started to mess with my body..my question is I read the high doses of Vitamin E can help with hot flashes but there is a concern if you are on Blood pressure meds...so how much a day could I take without messing up my drugs?
Avatar f tn I'm a healthy female vegetarian in my 20s, and I never have bowel issues. However, I am having a very unpleasant problem! Four days ago while making bread, I tasted my sourdough starter (a fermented slop of wild yeasts and lactic acid bacteria), and now I'm having foul, foul smelling gas, stomach noises, and rancid stools.
4715985 tn?1371582997 Yes! My stepmom and father are extreme vegans. She has 3kids and always ate tofu during her pregnancies. You can always check with your doctor to make sure but it is generally safe during pregnancy. Also, have you ever tried Boca Burgers? They are meatless hamburger patties (made from soy protein) i'm a big meat eater too but they are delicious!! I recommend you give them a try, they will taste just like a hamburger. Good luck!
172023 tn?1334672284 I'm making a General Tso's tofu. Had tons of great reviews, even by non tofu eaters on recipezaar.
Avatar f tn I will certainly check out that cookbook, thank you! My biggest problem right now is that I don't like tofu all that much, and when I find meat replacements they'll taste more like tofu than anything... But I'll check this out for sure! Also, I do eat eggs, and I LOVE milk. I take vitamin D3 right now (it runs in the family, we can't absorb the stuff) and I will look in to B12.
Avatar f tn They both look good. One babies heart rate was 179 and the other was 175 so the tech said that it was perfectly fine. I am 8wks along today. Oh boy, I will have to buy double of everything again. Well, I just wanted to give everyone the news. I will talk to everyone soon. Have a great day!!!
Avatar n tn Soy is one, and last night ate food with tofu in it (though not the tofu itself, and the usual reaction is a sore stomach). I was leaning on my left side for a little while before this happened, and have not experienced it before. It is still present, though not nearly as bad as last night - more merely like I slept in the wrong position and blood is sluggish to the area.
Avatar f tn As well as having a high protein content, tofu is also rich in iron and magnesium. 6. Almonds Almonds are a nut with a number of health benefits, including having a high amount of protein. A 1/4 cup serving of almonds contains 8 grams of protein. Almonds have a lower saturated fat content and are a great way for vegetarians to get protein. 7. Peanut Butter Peanut butter is a high source of protein as well. 30 grams of peanut butter contain 7.5 grams of protein.
Avatar f tn Lol meat cravings all day!
5079976 tn?1380275206 Be careful with the soy. My midwife says it has estrogen and too much while pregnant is not good for you (bummer because I'm in love with soy beans)... She suggested lentils as an excellent protein source.
Avatar f tn Well I have been on this diet for 14 days where I eat about 800 calories per day, all good stuff - vegs, boiled egg, some fruit, tofu, rice cakes, ryvita crackers, no sodas, no junk. I have also taken up aerobic and weight exercise 4-5 times for 1 hour. I have lost maybe 3 or 4 lbs at the most - I usually consume about1800 calories per day. Why have I not lost more weight?
209987 tn?1451935465 There is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that the consumption of soy in Asia has had any deleterious effects on anyone, and their large populations would seem to put the lie to the concern of estrogen affecting men. And most of the soy eaten in most countries is tofu and roasted soy beans, not fermented soy. Only in Indonesia is most soy consumption fermented, because they prefer tempeh to tofu.
