771665 tn?1235155092 My ovarian oncologist wanted to give me the estrogen as he said my reduced brain function was the worst he had seen. However my breast cancer oncologist wanted to make sure it didn't impact on my previous ER+ breast cancer so she suggested also giving me the Tamoxifen as well. Both of these oncologists work together. I don't now if my ovarian is also ER+ but if it is, this was rather is stupid thing to do, giving me estrogen.
Avatar n tn I read that this was due to low cortisol levels because cortisol is made from Progesterone so if your Progesterone levels are low, your cortisol levels will be low and cortisol has an anti-inflammatory affect on the body. Also Estrogen dominance promotes the release of histamine and so the symptoms of allergies. This is what I read.

Avatar f tn I was in a Boceprevir study and they let me continue my HRT through it, so my estrogen level was constant. I did SVR. I have always wondered if the reason I didn't have mood swings and depression was because I my estrogen was consistent. If I *had* been producing my own, it would have still been affected by the heavy meds whereas the patch was not.
15695260 tn?1549593113 Recent research has proven one risk for our children to have Autism and that is high levels of estrogen in the womb. For a very long time, the cause has been widely unknown and that this factors in is an important development in autism research. Prior studies had already implicated higher uterine concentrations of male sex hormones -- androgens -- in increasing the odds and now researchers and doctors have more information to better understand autism.
594914 tn?1245263684 In women, estrogen circulates in the bloodstream and binds to estrogen receptors on cells in targeted tissues, affecting not only the breast and uterus, but also the brain, bone, liver, heart and other tissues. Estrogen controls growth of the uterine lining during the first part of the menstrual cycle, causes changes in the breasts during adolescence and pregnancy, and regulates various other metabolic processes, including bone growth and cholesterol levels.
Avatar f tn This cream made me worse at first because it apparently wakes up the estrogen receptors and makes the estrogen dominance symptoms worse. I cut my dosage back to about 1/16 to 1/8 of a teaspoon applied at night and things seem to be getting better! Finally! I'm going to talk to the doctor about adding a natural estrogen cream to the mix if things get bad again.
771665 tn?1235155092 I worry that the elevation of the CA 125 might reflect activity with the ovarian cancer. I would recommend repeating the CA 125 and checking the CT scan. please let us know how you are doing.
Avatar m tn Ovary removal is a severe trauma to the entire endocrine system. Estrogen can help mitigate some of the onslaught but it can take some trial and error to find the right product and dose. There are many options to try - patches, gels, pills, vaginal ring. I hope you find something to help you sleep and address any other symptoms that appear!
Avatar n tn I have hormonal headaches and breast tenderness. Recent symptoms - brain fog during my period, insomnia and itchiness (from the inside, out). An antihistamine tablet will work for a day or two but then the itching returns. It is not due to dry skin or a food allergy. I have no hot flashes or vaginal dryness though I have had an occasional hot flash when under stress or excess sweating but not on a regular basis.
148691 tn?1260194903 The way lupron works to shrink a fibroid is to turn off the signal from your brain to your ovaries that tells the ovaries to make estrogen and release eggs. Since the signal is shut down, the ovary stops making estrogen, which shrinks the fibroid and suppresses endometriosis. At the same time, the low levels of estrogen cause hot flushes, just as 50 year old women experience hot flushes when their ovaries reach menopause and stop making estrogen naturally.
1194973 tn?1385503904 He said that the brain and spine and heart are all well formed and where they should be. I also went through the roof when he said that it's a girl!!!! I'm so excited it's crazy. I get another ultrasound in 4 weeks so I can't wait to see her again.
Avatar n tn ) ANYWAY, two days on the estrogen lotion and my shoulder pain and weakness and let up SO MUCH! This is the first time I have had any relief in about 5 years. Anyway, this is just a suggestion and I hope that you find relief soon because I def know where you are coming from!!
Avatar n tn If you are a female over 40 years, then menopause can be a cause. Low estrogen and low thyroid function is often the cause. Liver dysfunction (get liver enzymes done—liver function test), kidney dysfunction (get kidney function test done), and anemia can make a person appear drunk. Poor sleep pattern and sleep problems like sleep apnea too can cause brain fog. Sleep studies by sleep specialists can help diagnose this. Low Vit D or Vit B12 too could be the cause.
Avatar n tn Horrible headaches near the end of my cycle, dry eye, fatiuge, night sweats, and the one that really frustrates me...the brain fog! I am having some memory issues and some confusion. I also feel weak, like muscle weak...I am really active and usually very in tune with my body, but this time I am stumped. So, being that I am not insured, I need to know if I should go to an OBgyn and talk about that, or if this may be long term of having my TSH at .044 for a few years.
16702 tn?1234090645 Hi, I just wanted to pull this section of the article out. "A researcher looked at flaxseed. If cancer cells were placed alongside flaxseed in a petrie dish, the cancer cells grew. This has yet to proven with live subjects," I just wanted to pull this up since, again, it is something that has not been tested on live subjects.
285777 tn?1231609844 Hi Zooz333, On a second thought, your problem appears to be due to deficiency in aromatase enzyme, which could be confirmed by testing the estrogen level. Have a look at the following article and the Table-5 therein : http://www.endotext.org/male/male17/male17.htm If the same is confirmed, a low dose estrogen treatment should bring back the hormone levels under control and might also improve the sperm count.
Avatar n tn Yes, it's normal. The lower estrogen pills usually cause break through bleeding.
Avatar f tn I had a friend who was on clomid and estrogen (clomid helped her get pregnant, but thinned her lining, so the estrogen helped counter that), then she went on progesterone as soon as she got a bfp. and found this on healthywomen . org "During the reproductive years, the pituitary gland in the brain generates hormones that cause a new egg to be released from its follicle each month. As the follicle develops, it produces estrogen, which causes the lining of the uterus to thicken.
405614 tn?1329144114 s the extra estrogen that confers some relief from MS)...and my own experience is that during the withdrawal phase from the Pill (I'm on Loestrin, only have placebo pills for four days), my symptoms are at their worst.
Avatar n tn I have low normal cortisol, very high DHEAS, low estrogen, low normal fT3 and fT4 and my growth hormone is too low. My main symptoms are all the time- anxiety, fatigue, insomnia, muscle weakness and pains, dizziness, weight loss, brain fog, I can't make no sports, because I feel too fatigued after it. I also had very low libido which is better now, since I'm using bio identical estrogen gel.
492898 tn?1222243598 Tamoxifen (Nolvadex) Tamoxifen (Nolvadex) is a hormonal drug that blocks the estrogen to the tumor cells. It is in pill form and is taken daily by mouth. Use of tamoxifen as adjuvant therapy has shown to markedly decrease the risk of cancer recurrence in patients with hormone receptor positive breast cancer. In the adjuvant setting it is usually giver for a period of 5 years....
20922415 tn?1661860103 As the follicle develops, it produces the sex hormones estrogen and progesterone, which thicken the lining of the uterus called the endometrium. Progesterone levels rise in the second half of the menstrual cycle and following the release of the egg called ovulation, the ovarian tissue that replaces the follicle (the corpus luteum) continues to produce estrogen and progesterone.
Avatar n tn Can this affect the TSH and or the thyroid-certainly he knew this when he ordered the test as he prescribes the med, I was just wondering before I call to ask for the FT3 and FT4 tests if this could be skewing the results at all.
1142929 tn?1271622835 s very good you saw a specialist. And many women get yeast and BV at the same time - BV covers up the yeast. It also can take about 30 days for things to really balance out after treatment. Estrogen does play a role in lubrication etc. For the dryness there are some over the counter aids that you can look into or you can see about trying some estrogen cream on the outside of the vagina. I would start with the OTC bec it's not hormonal.
