Avatar f tn t get pregnant that she was goin g to prescribe me estrogen pills to thicken my uterine walls. I did the clomid cycle and estrogen pills. Today I started my progesterone pills. Saturday I started experience lower back pain. I think I ovulated early also. I usually have ovulation on 16 day of luteal phase. I want to know if these symptoms I am having are side effects of medications? I'm currently taking. I forgot to mention I'm diagnosis with PCOS and currently lost 33 lbs.
1066572 tn?1296240001 I have not had ONE pregnancy symptom all along. I am on estrogen pills and progesterone in oil shots daily. I am tired but that is it-really no sore bbs, no morning sickness at all. Had we not seen the baby on the u/s I would not even believe I was pregnant. I know that doesn't happen to everyone but hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones too! Best of luck.
20922415 tn?1661860103 Progesterone is one of the sexual hormones in the female bodies maintains and regulates sexual well-being. In males, it is produced in a small amount for sperm development. It is the main and vital hormone that plays a significant role in menstrual cycle health preparing the body for conception and development of pregnancy. 1.
Avatar m tn I'm not a doctor and I have no experience with medicine, but from what I have researched online about the hormones that control your menstrual cycle, and from my experience taking birth control, you could be having symptoms of estrogen dominance as withdrawal from taking birth control. It is easy enough from the North American diet for the body to produce more estrogen than it does progesterone. Both of these hormones need to be in your body for you to get your period.
Avatar f tn I am on 3 pills of estrace a day and a Vivelle patch every other day. Have been on it for 2 weeks now, gained about 5 lbs and go in this Friday for the transfer. I will stay on the meds til Aug. 15th, which is the date of the blood test to see if I am pregnant, then if it is a positive, I will be on it for 8 more weeks. Yikes, didn't expect to gain even more. Anyone else in this situation?
938326 tn?1300878804 You definitely do not want to go on the shot if you are looking for something that is not long lasting. Been there done that, and it can take a long time to get out of your system. I only tried the ring for two months. I bled the entire time I was on it! When you say you cannot take the pill are you referring to combination pills or all pills? I cannot take combination pills (pills with both estrogen & progesterone), but I can take the mini pill (progesterone only pill).
Avatar m tn Now, there are many ways to regulate the menses and/or to supplement a woman with progesterone. You have been prescribed progesterone only pills, which is fine. A Mirena IUD and Depo Provera are other alternatives, again, if available. You could also start a estrogen/progesterone containing birth control pill (or alternatives available in your country) if you have no medical contraindications. What has been recommended by your doctor sounds fine.
453798 tn?1262633421 I took 2 prometrium pills at night just because they make me very dizzy and there was no way I could take them in the morning and be able to function at work. The estace I took 2x a day and I had chest pain with them. The prometrium is progestrone and that is to help with your lining. I was also told that estace, which is estrogen was supposed to help me with my lining and my Doctor also told me it helps my chances with getting pregnant. Good luck this month. I hope you get a bfp!!!!
Avatar f tn Both estrogen and progesterone are produced naturally by your body...at different rates and at different times of your cycle. Unless your doctor finds that you have a deficiency in either or the two, I would NOT take any supplements. If progesterone is taken at the wrong time of the month, for example, it can actually prevent you from getting pregnant.
1320252 tn?1290190343 I was prescribed the Progesterone and Estrogen pills and got them from my local pharmacy. Perhaps you should talk to your OB about prescribing you Progesterone too. Wouldnt hurt to try. Good luck and sending lots of baby dust your way!!
Avatar f tn ve experienced three miscarriages in the last year and I recently underwent a surgery on my uterus to correct the suspected problem. My doctor prescribed me 30 days of estrogen and 10 days of progesterone to be taken on the last 10 days of the estrogen, in order to rebuild my uterine lining. My question is is it normal to start bleeding before stopping the progesterone.
Avatar f tn I was on crinone which is made to be taken as a suppository, but I have seen many other people say they are on the pills taken vaginally. My dr (for a completely different reason) had me take estrogen that way. My estrogen actually tested higher when I took it vaginally than it did when I took it orally, so I would bet that would apply to progesterone also. best of luck to you..
Avatar m tn I went through a serious bout of stress from my job a couple of years ago and ended up leaving. My hair thinned, I started getting fat round my waste and on my chest giving me the dreaded man boobs look. The stress and lack of sleep got so bad at times that I often forgot what day it was and could not sleep or stop my hands from shaking. Now the problem remains and I can't get rid of it. My DHEA is fine and so is my testosterone.
Avatar f tn Itook Crinone too but I asked my Re for estrogen pills, drank a lot of orange jc which I believe contains progesterone
Avatar f tn I read that both of these hormones compete with each other for binding sites and that progesterone can help with this. My Dr thought I was already taking progesterone and immediately prescribed it to me from a compounding pharmacy. I have been applying of the progesterone cream each night for 2 weeks now. I feel a sense of calmness. But my energy level has not improved and the total weight gain since starting BRT goes from 16 to 18 lbs. I put in a request for my Dr to increase the Armour.
Avatar m tn 2 - If I was to take some form of Progesterone (the method is not important for this question), and my progesterone levels are restored, why would my progesterone levels stay restored after I stop taking the progesterone supplement (cream or otherwise)? I'm interested in understanding how Progesterone keeps on opposing oestrogen even when I stop taking it? By using progesterone what am I trying to achieve? Where is the turning point back to full health?
Avatar n tn Most info I find on side effects involves HRT with estrogen and progesterone. What are the risks of blood clot or heart attack with just progesterone? Has anyone else had a similar experience/treatment? Thank you.
898000 tn?1242956625 I took it until 11 weeks when I stopped both estrogen and progesterone. My RE did say, however, that the estrogen is not nearly as important as the progesterone, and like Helen said, some women don't use it at all. I was on the patch, so I basically just changed it every 3 days. wfaMiracle: It also says not to take progesterone while pregnant, but without it, an IVF pregnancy would most likely fail. So it's totally fine to take both hormones in early pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I got my first beta after FET...169. They said this is a good number - they wanted over 50 - but I'm worried! I honestly felt really good this morning, like I was going to have twins: I was so bloated, my breasts were really sore, and I'd seen three hpt's, the line getting darker w/each one. This afternoon, though - my symptoms really seem to have subsided.
Avatar f tn July 2008, I went off birth control pills because my husband and I were trying to have another baby. I have a 4 year old son now. October 2008 I had a miscarriage. After that, I never really started my cycle again. My dr. said it may take a while to become normal and he was not concerned. In June I was given prometrium to start my periods again and it worked. I started 12 days later, but I never ovulated and it never came again.
Avatar n tn Also from my doctor, I learned that one can be both estrogen deficient and estrogen dominant at the same time if progesterone and estrogen are low, and due to our exposure to estrogens & phyto estrogens in environment and foods. So alot of balancing is required and diary your symptoms for your doctor, and balancing your doses of the creams based on your symptoms, always start low and work up, also know that with estrogen, the symptoms of too much and not enough, are the same.
Avatar f tn Do fat cells secrete estrogen? Do I even need estrogen replacement? I used a bioidentical progesterone cream in the past. I was on Yaz birth control before the surgery. Without that I was practically psychotic.I am more miserable now than before surgery. I cry A LOT. My family is sick of me and I am sick of me. My doctor doesn't explain things. Will excercise/supplements etc be enough?Where can I turn for info?
Avatar n tn Had I not had my period she would have tried another month of progesterone she would have done an estrogen-progesterone challenge to determine if estrogen was my problem. That entails taking birth control pills for 2-3 mos and seeing if you have a period when you are on the placebo pills given for cd 22-28. If you do that and still don't have your period, you have to have a very invasive test to check your cervix and uterus to make sure that the outflow tract is not obstructed.
280418 tn?1306325910 Even the pill Yaz that you are taking contains estrogen, hence you should stop this immediately, and resort to some progesterone only preparation for birth control. Best..
