643867 tn?1225298753 Last year I was put on a hormone cream with progesterone, DHEA, and some other good stuff. Initially it had estrogen in it, too, but I did not respond well to it at all so they took it out. I should add that I have had a hyst and only have one ovary but according to FSH and other test results I am not in menopause. I am 42 years old. The cream helped me lose weight, minimize "PMS", and generally I felt good. However, I had fluid retention three days every week.
Avatar m tn I went through a serious bout of stress from my job a couple of years ago and ended up leaving. My hair thinned, I started getting fat round my waste and on my chest giving me the dreaded man boobs look. The stress and lack of sleep got so bad at times that I often forgot what day it was and could not sleep or stop my hands from shaking. Now the problem remains and I can't get rid of it. My DHEA is fine and so is my testosterone.
988694 tn?1332359479 I have my progesterone test this coming week. I have also heard that the ratio between estrogen and progesterone is very fundamental to feel well. I will post my progesterone results when I have them in case someone has an input. Before taking medicine for my thyroid I took the BCP for years and my hair and skin were beautiful, normal. That is why I think it has to do with my sex hormones. Thanks.

Avatar n tn I began using a natural product called Progesto-Mend and later natural Progesterone cream (for only one cycle so far) because from the symptoms I was having I figured I was Estrogen dominant. No headaches this month, the brain fog is almost unnoticeable though I have small memory/attention lapses, I seem to be sleeping better but the itchiness remains!

Avatar f tn I remember that prior to starting treatment in Sept 09, I read somewhere that being post menopause would be a negative strike against me but I still opted to NOT take estrogen. I have been in surgical menopause since 1996, I took estrogen for 10 years and then quit because of the increased chance of breast cancer after taking estrogen so many years. I finished treatment (without taking estrogen since 2006) and I achieved SVR.

Unfortunately standard Thyroid testing does not indicate Hypothyroidism type 2, which is similar to diabetes 2. The serum levels are fine, yet the thyroid function (in the cells) is low (thyroid resistance) For this you need Free T3, Free T4 AND Reverse T3 Cheers.

988694 tn?1332359479 Thanks Laura. I went to see my GYN and I am infuriated. I asked him about what he thought of bio identical and he said he did not believe in them. He said that they were not approved by the FDA and that there was no way to know if they had what they said they had. Then I said "progesterone cream".
