Let me introduce my self. I am 43 yo, married for 6 years and I had my second ovary removed at age 37, after already having my uterus and 1st ovary removed in 1998 and 2000. (I also had a lung transplant 8 years ago). I had all the typical symptoms of menopause even though mine was surgical menopause. My ongoing problem is severe mood swings. About 5 years ago I found myself actually hysterical and didn't know what to do.

Who is having mood swings due to hormonal changes and how do you handle it??

In the last year, I would say that the symptoms including hot flashes, have been unbearable at times and have been more frequently and more severly. He has increased the dosage since and where the hot flashes are subsiding, the mood swings are now way out of control. Watching a commercial can literally send me into a complete crying tail spin.

I am having very bad hot flashes,mood swings,and fatigue,sometimes insomia. I have been on estrogen since Oct.2008,my O.B. wants me to take Effexor 37.5mg twice daily to help with the hot flashes and mood swings. My concern is that I was previously on Zoloft 50mg. and it gave me real bad headaches raised my blood pressure and sent me on a emergent run to the hsp. emergency room,,I am concerned about starting this medicience that it will cause the same problems or worse. My O.B.

I am a 24/7 pain patient. Before and after my period I have extreme mood swings. Extreme doesn’t even explain what I go through. Has anyone ever had a hysterectomy to stop the mood swings?

He even takes an estrogen pill to prevent highs. But he is battling mood swings still and is constantly upset he is not getting enough sex, which is average or better than average. There is weekly or biweekly intense arguing. It is ruining our marriage. He was told to exercise to help the swings and he says he does at work but I don’t know for sure. Has anyone else experienced this.

After a year of being in remission, I too had such a tough time with hot flashes and mood swings, so I took estadil and soon my marker went up, Come to find out my cancer was not tested for estrogen sensitivity. So please make sure.

I had my hystercomy 12/2006....I have had hot flashes, night sweats, and mood swings almost every night before and after my hystercomy. My mother-in-law told me that I did not have a total hystercomy if I am still having night sweats, hot flashes, mood swings, and etc..... my question is.....Am I going crazy or is it normal to have those systoms?

Not being noisy but how old are you? Because it sounds like it can be the change of life. I had a complex cyst on my ovary removed in March just a few months ago & I know about hot flashes they are constant I have an appointment today to do a follow up for estrogen shots because I am going the change & I am 38 yrs.

I am wondering why I am loosing so much hair after my complete (my ovaries are out too)hysterectomy? I was on 1 mg of Estrace which was very helpful the first month or two.I felt so incredibly good. My hot flashes were gone completely, and my moods swings were stable.Then after about one and a half months my hot flashes and mood swings came back with a vengeance.Because I couldn't get in to see the Dr. for another 2 months I started taking 1 and 1/2 mg of Estrace for another month.

I have had a full hysterctomy in February. I am experiencing mood swings and weight gain and raised temperature. Is there a way to control these symptoms?

Thanks for your response. I'm not taking any pills now for almost a year. of course I do have estrogen dominance, mood swings, nausea and vaginal dryness as well. I also have mid cycle period on the 14th day with dark blood. I was confused whether it's a good sign or a bad sign. Is it a ruptured cyst?

As far as your question about estradiol versus HRT, you may be referring to "bio-identical" versus synthetic.

Yes I took it on cd3-7 and got prego the first cycle. (Also did follicle monitoring and hcg trigger that cycle) Femara is different than Clomid. Clomid binds to estrogen receptors and makes the body think estrogen is low. Femara actually blocks the synthesis of estrogen. Both have the same effect though - which leads to more FSH and LH which stimulates follicle growth in the ovary.

I suffer from bipolar..Cymbalta worked last year..til I broke out in hives..lol...my mood swings are unbearable and my brain is all over the place!!! Lately I have been experiencing anxiety, some insomnia, happy/sad mood swings. I feel like packing my bags and running away. I pray to be nice and not let me say something mean especially towards my mom.I had a full hysterectomy in 2005 but was never prescribed any hormone pills. The doc said I didn't need any. Hi, I am 17, I am on Depo Provera and am having side effects such as constant bleeding (1 month and half) and the common mood changes. I was told that if I take estrogen I can minimize the bleeding or even stop it...However I was informed by a nurse that due to breast cancer running in my family if I starting to take an estrogen pill so early it can potentially make my risk of breast cancer even higher for the future.

I had a total hysterectomy in April due to cancer. I am so tired all the time, mood swings and hot flashes like crazy. I'm at a loss to know what to do.

I was prepared for the mood swings, hot flashes, and all the other weird stuff that came with it. But not for this long. And now depression, no sex drive, major hot flashes, and bad insomnia. Nobody can answer me on how much longer. I think I ran my only ova into the ground. What should I do?

As mood swings and depression, can also come with certain illnesses also, so just because you have depression and mood swings , and like you said the doctors only try to give you happy pills, do you feel ill in anyway. example fatigue, weight loss or weight gain, joint pain. etc. Sometimes mood swings and depression, can be overlooked as a mental condition, when the real cause can actually be medical.

Studies show that ovary removal or post-hysterectomy ovarian failure increases risk for many health problems including heart disease (the #1 killer of women), osteoporosis, hip fracture, cognitive and memory impairment, dementia, Parkinsonism, mood disorders (depression, mood swings, anxiety, irritability), vision and skin changes, poor sleep quality, urogenital atrophy, sexual dysfunction, more severe hot flushes (I think that's all of them!).

I've been 100 mg clomid. The side effects are pretty much just hot flashes and mood swings! But they aren't too bad, nothing I can't stand anyways. Haha. If this doesn't do the trick on too injectables next month. SSBD to all.

All my bf does is work and then come home and play video games all the time. I am working but got my hrs severely cut after the holidays so i am home alone a lot. It gives my mind way too much time to think! Im afraid to end up raising this baby alone. Just really need to talk to someone.

I have been extremely emotional lately. It *****. Every time someone says something or does something, it irritates the crap out of me. I'm taking it out on my friends, coworker, my coworkers and especially my boyfriend, the father of my child. It's getting old. It's not like me to be like this. I'm usually chipper, now its more getting irritated and/or start cruing. Anyone else feel like this and does anyone have any advice?
