Avatar m tn You must be careful with the dosage tho because too much testo or estrogen is not good. High estrogen production thru supplementation or diet rich in phytochemicals producing estrogen are linked with tumor growth. The relation is not clear buy significant with breast cancer I don't see anything bad with taking Effexor with DHEA supplementation but the optimal way to go would be to take choline, alpha GCP, L-Huperzine and vinpocetine with the DHEA.
Avatar f tn ve been reading about as I asked for progesterone and estrogen testing - thyroid was not something I considered. Thanks for any help or insight.
Avatar m tn Unfortunately, removal of any part of the "reproductive" system (uterus, one or both ovaries, one or both tubes) can permanently disrupt the whole hormonal / endocrine system. The ovaries of women with all their parts produce hormones their whole lives and are critical to good health and normal aging. It's hard to say what her remaining ovary will do. It may function normally for years, sub-optimally for years or it could shut down completely at any time.
Avatar m tn s the result of a secondary estrogen surge. I read that---if my memory serves---in Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Is this cm coinciding with a waking temperature dip? It always would, for me, and I think that's another signal the estrogen surge is happening.
Avatar f tn I did the saliva test, and results came back that I am estrogen dominant and dhea and prog. and test very low. So they pharmacist started me on 5 mg of dhea and also a progest. cream. I was good for 4 days and thought I found the cure. Until just last Wed all the way until today...that is 6 days....I started with severe cramps, pain in lower back, almost as if I was getting my menstrual cycle. Then came the Diarrhea and I am not talking one time....
Avatar f tn I was in an awful almost non-functional state before getting enough estrogen into my system and maintaining that level. The depression and memory and cognition loss were scary! And I was almost 50 when my organs were removed. I hope this helps! Please post back and let us know how you're doing. I know how alone we can feel during all of this.
Avatar n tn Since that time I have gained weight that I cannot lose, my cholesteral level has risen to a danger zone and now take medication also B12 injections. I suffer from fatigue, memory loss, cold sensitivety and other problems. I recently had a FSH test done and was told the levels indicate I am still producing estrogen.
Avatar n tn Also from my doctor, I learned that one can be both estrogen deficient and estrogen dominant at the same time if progesterone and estrogen are low, and due to our exposure to estrogens & phyto estrogens in environment and foods. So alot of balancing is required and diary your symptoms for your doctor, and balancing your doses of the creams based on your symptoms, always start low and work up, also know that with estrogen, the symptoms of too much and not enough, are the same.
Avatar f tn These hormones protect us from a number of health problems such as heart disease, mood disorders, memory and cognition problems to name a few. I also had a hysterectomy (not for endo) and it turned my life upside down. I personally cannot imagine trying to stop taking estrogen. I wonder if I should also use testosterone since post-menopausal ovaries produce mostly testosterone, some of which can be converted into estrogen. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn My dose has been continually going up. I have taken the estrogen cream and feel worse. I feel emotional and even broke out in pimples. They lowered me to 1/2 of the low dose. Doesnt make sense. Are they missing something? Is there more than this? I have severe brain fog and memory loss...... I am tired....should I see someone else to help?????
Avatar f tn Sorry for all your troubles! I sure can relate to the problems caused by hysterectomy! Mine was 8 years ago and I still mourn the losses. Are you saying you have tried all HRT's? My gynecologist (my ex-gyn since my surgery) prescribed the highest dose Vivelle-Dot patch and it was a dismal failure. The only benefit was a well lubricated vagina yet I still had absolutely no desire for sex (still don't though).
Avatar n tn If you are a female over 40 years, then menopause can be a cause. Low estrogen and low thyroid function is often the cause. Liver dysfunction (get liver enzymes done—liver function test), kidney dysfunction (get kidney function test done), and anemia can make a person appear drunk. Poor sleep pattern and sleep problems like sleep apnea too can cause brain fog. Sleep studies by sleep specialists can help diagnose this. Low Vit D or Vit B12 too could be the cause.
Avatar f tn Estring, for example, releases over 90 days an amount equivalent to taking oral estrogen for just 2 days, and Vagifem, aready a very low dose estrogen product, is now available in a 10 mcg dose, as well as the original 20 mcg dose. (Both of these are reported to be preferrable to a similar third product, Estrace.) These products also appear to have a very, very low level of systemic absorption.
Avatar n tn I’m 48 yrs old & perimenopausal. I have hormonal headaches and breast tenderness. Recent symptoms - brain fog during my period, insomnia and itchiness (from the inside, out). An antihistamine tablet will work for a day or two but then the itching returns. It is not due to dry skin or a food allergy. I have no hot flashes or vaginal dryness though I have had an occasional hot flash when under stress or excess sweating but not on a regular basis.
Avatar f tn I have a 7 year old daughter. She was born at 26 weeks gestation. She suffered cardiac arrest at birth and was without adequate oxygen for 20 minutes after birth (she under went complete resuscitation). Once her resuscitation was complete she spent 72 nearly uncomplicated days in the NICU (our miracle baby!). She was then sent home. Three weeks after being home I noticed clitoral swelling when changing her diaper. Being the nervous mom, I took her into the pediatrician.
Avatar f tn Studies show that ovary removal or post-hysterectomy ovarian failure increases risk for many health problems including heart disease (the #1 killer of women), osteoporosis, hip fracture, cognitive and memory impairment, dementia, Parkinsonism, mood disorders (depression, mood swings, anxiety, irritability), vision and skin changes, poor sleep quality, urogenital atrophy, sexual dysfunction, more severe hot flushes (I think that's all of them!).
Avatar f tn I actually feel worse as far as my memory, panic attacks, depression, fatigue and confusion and disorientation. The confusion and disorientation is getting so bad that its causing problems in my everyday life with work and driving. I feel nervous and afaid a lot because I cant figure out what is going on, all I know is the problem is getting worse. I go back to my GP in two weeks for my 6wk checkup. Also, I been dealing with anxiety and depression since my early 20's.
Avatar f tn Too bad you were not tested for estrogen and progesterone levels-not so much for deficiencies but to see if your P/E ratio is within normal values. I think 200-300 P to 1 E if my memory serves me right. Can you post any additional symptoms that you may be experiencing?
Avatar f tn I had breast cancer and was treated and am 3 years out. With no estrogen in my body, I am noticing pain in my spine especially in my hips, lower back and knees. I believe this is artritist as a result of no estrogen because I had none of this before. Some kind of very low dose of estrogen or use of estrogen creme should be allowed to stop this pain. I know the doctors say NO ESTROGEN as the cancer will return. Well it may return on its own and I do not like to take this pain medication.
Avatar f tn Menopause is often thought of as a time of declining estrogen, but it is actually common for women to experience surges of abnormally high estrogen levels in the menopausal years, as well as earlier in life. This misconception has led many millions of women to engage in Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) to restore lost” estrogen, hoping to address the above list of conditions. This additional estrogen may only worsen the problem and even set the stage for the development of deadly disease.
Avatar f tn I have been on estrogen replacement since my surgery in 1998. I still have moderate-severe hot flashes and they seem to be getting more intense with age. I switched from oral Premarin which covered me pretty well but I didn't want to be taking pills the rest of my life. Since then I have tried a variety of patches that are really not very effective on a regular basis and very expensive. At my age, what do you recommend. Is Premarin dangerous (risk of DVT).
Avatar n tn Will the TSH level have a direct affect on estrogen? I think I have symtoms of both low estrogen and hyperthroid maybe? Confused? Thanks so much.
Avatar f tn I just remembered how my hair fell out a lot after my first child was born, before I was hypoT. Maybe ANY hormonal imbalance contributes to hair loss? We all know how a limping thyroid throws the entire hormonal (aka endocrine) system out of balance. Perhaps once our thyroid is balanced, we still have to contend with getting all our other hormones balanced. Maybe having our thyroid back up and running isn't enough to repair and balance the rest of our system that got out-of-whack.
Avatar n tn I am now 45. I have not had estrogen since 2015. Insomnia is bad, anxiety is higher, and depression has been around more. Nothing in my life has changed. I don't know why I all of a sudden I don't feel like my old self. I am going to see my old Gyn on Monday. I am sure he will not be happy with me going off the premarin. Do you think it is possible this is menopause or the beginning I am going through?
Avatar f tn I am taking progesterone pills to bring progesterone and estrogen back in the right ratio. My doctor said if she balances the hormones it will help the anxiety depression awful headaches and other symtoms of perimanapause. Has anyone else done this? Has anyone else gone through this with perimanapause?
