Avatar m tn Ovariectomy and estrogen supplementation were used to evaluate the effect of estrogen on HBV titers in transgenic mice with replicating HBV in hepatocytes. The effect of estrogen signaling on transcription of HBV genes, and the mechanisms of regulation, were studied in HepG2 cells. RESULTS: HBV titers increased in female mice after ovariectomy and decreased in male mice supplemented with estrogen. Hepatic expression of estrogen receptor (ER)? was increased by estrogen exposure.
Avatar m tn re already dealing with thryoid issues, as the estrogen levels are still affected by the thryoid and vice versa, whether male or female. It is estrogen in particular that soy affects in a huge way. Dr. Mercola explains more thoroughly and better than I can even begin to repeat why the traditionally fermented soy products are the only soy products that are even safe to consume.
Avatar n tn Testosterone is very important for females as well as males. Testosterone also converts into estrogen. All three primacy sex hormones all interact with one another and having them in the proper balance at the proper time is very important and complex. Do you have any menstrual cycle irregularities? Can you also tell us your diet and the level of exercise you do? Are you an "extreme" athlete of any sort?
Avatar f tn Hello and welcome to our site and forum. I agree with Jack650's comments. This is likely gynecomastia and you can read more about it here https://www.webmd.com/men/what-is-gynecomastia#1 Please let us know your thoughts on this information.
Avatar m tn i started to investigate whether there is something wrong or not.at some point i stumbled upon estradiol and estrogen.i had an estradiol level of 85 and an estrone level of 256 with upper limit of 50 and 155 respectively.my testosterone levels were normal.total t 9.5 and free 24 with upper limits of 12 and 50 respectively.!my platelets were lower than normal but never below 100k.also, red blood cell count were most times higher that normal even though i have anemia(MCV<80).
Avatar f tn Hi Will~ Yeah, I remember reading that article, back when I was struggling with all these hot flashes, and started rersearching Hep C and estrogen replacement. I ended upcompromising, by using a cream, that you rub in. But when I brought the estrogen cream up with my Hepa Doctor, she snapped something about estrogen causing "heart problems". I suppose, because some of these meds already put a strain on us older folks' hearts, etc.
Avatar f tn I'm 49 years old, have been exercising regularly for 13-14 years, including running 25+ miles per week, and added resistance training in the last year. I'm 5'4" and my weight averages 124 lbs. I have had no periods for almost a year. My blood pressure has always been good, but today I went for a check up at the doctor for a shoulder problem and my blood pressure was 150/70, heart rate was not quite 50. I feel great..... recently ran a half marathon with time of 1:47.
20922415 tn?1661860103 Progesterone is one of the sexual hormones in the female bodies maintains and regulates sexual well-being. In males, it is produced in a small amount for sperm development. Avatar m tn If I were you I would make an appointment with either a Breast Specialist or Breast Surgeon for an opinion. It is true that males often have these small lumps and they are hormone related but since you have nipple discharge and pain for this length of time I would see a Specialist. Please don't think that I'm saying this is anything terribly serious but I do think it might require some treatment. Regards ...
Avatar m tn ve been wondering if whether or not as a younger child in early puberty I had a little bit of a hormonal imbalance. I seem to have wider hips than most males and bonafide breast nub development. I was wondering if this is a concern for me presently because I was thinking of getting cosmetic gynecomastia-correcting surgery at some point, but I don't want any reason for my body to grow them back. I have pictures that I will gladly PM. Thank you!
Avatar f tn talk about accelerated aging!!!.by the time I went back to my doctor, the estrogen level was low, cholesteral was up, and thyroid was 5.9..... Is it possible to go off the Synthroid altogether and return to my regime of natural estrogen/progesterin/ testosterone??? or if you have the thyroid problem do you have it forever??
Avatar f tn hormone levels? What about his estrogen level (males have it too)? What about growth hormone and growth stimulating hormone?
Avatar m tn Risk factors for women, such as early exposure to radiation and higher estrogen exposure in utero, also seem to be relevant to men. For a time there was concern that men who got estrogen treatments for prostate cancer were more vulnerable to breast cancer, but this doesn't seem to be the case. Rather, prostate cancer can metastasize to the breast. (Remember that it remains prostate cancer; the cancer cells are prostate cancer cells, not breast cancer cells.
Avatar n tn but then i came 2 know, that breast cancer very, very rarely happen in males, so i thought it is gynecomastia and will get away during course of time. however they r not. i guess i also have hormone problem, as even though i am 20, i am not muscular and i have a very sparse facial hair. is there any link of this with these lumps, or are these REALLY symptoms of cancer. i am about to approach docter, just needed an opinion from an expert.
Avatar n tn From my perspective, there has not been enough effort by the breast cancer community to get the word out to males about their risk of developing this disease. I am 62 and currently fighting invasive ductile carcinoma. Throughout my adult life, I have annually seen doctors for physicals. I have been probed, prodded, sampled and screened in too numerous to count ways, always agreeing to what the doctors said I needed for preventive care.
603946 tn?1333941839 Wile I was gone the dogs got attention from the guys in the household but there was not as much activity as there is when I play with them. I love on them all equally and I cuddle and pat on them all day off and on. Of course while my husband was at work in the day, this never happened the two months that I was gone.
Avatar n tn Hi - firstly, sorry to bother you! I am aged 18 and male - went to see my doctor today about a lump under my right nipple which was sore/tender to touch. It has been like this for around a week, so after speaking with my doctor she said it was nothing to worry about (most likely hormonal) and to go back in a month if it worsens or persists. After consultation and research myself it would point to being gynecomastia(?
1023501 tn?1254833158 i personnaly have never had a Male midwife, but i have had several male OB that I have loved to have as a Dr. and Midwives do not have to be women. do you think they should call him a Midhusband? Avatar f tn From 2010-2013, rates of acute hepatitis C increased among males and females; in 2013, rates among males and females were 0.8 and 0.7 cases per 100,000 population, respectively. http://www.hepcassoc.org/news/article27.
405855 tn?1217100767 What is the correlation of estrogen and follicles? What should the estrogen number be before ovulation. Can this number be affected if you are taking Femara. On CD11, I had 5 follis - 20, 15, 18, 17, 16, 12 but my estrogen was only 23, is it possible? My lining was so think 4 mm only.
