Estrogen and lh surge

Common Questions and Answers about Estrogen and lh surge

Avatar n tn It is hard to predict. The higher levels of estrogen may promote the midcycle LH surge, which is what urine OPKs look for. If this happens, the surge might come a couple of days earlier. This is called positive feedback. On the other hand, the higher estrogen levels my inhibit LH (this is called negative feedback) delaying the surge. You will need to test for ovulation to find out.
1545670 tn?1302258058 I was told to stop taking OPK after a positive because it can also pick up estrogen and you get a rise in estrogen at the very end of your cycle. So, maybe the first was LH surge and now this is the estrogen. Hope that makes sense. I switched to the digital too to make sure that I knew when I got my +opk and that helped a lot. Good luck!
320424 tn?1205500555 Estrogen is responsible for low temps and we get a surge of it when we get our Lh surge. Fertility Monitors register the estrogen surge, too. It is what causes that dip just b4 o. Not all women see it. If your temp shoots up and stays elevated, that is what it was. Good luck!
Avatar f tn s, my estrogen was usually about 1200 on the day of my LH surge. No one ever told me what it meant - just that it was good.
1565900 tn?1328789175 Yes! I think they are worth the money. In fact, I just bought a used one from Ebay and wish I had bought it sooner. I have conceived twice (one daughter) using a borrowed one from a friend. They are spendy, and the sticks that you need are usually about $30 (US) for a box of 30. if you're an ebay user, that's where I have found the best prices. For not as huge of a cash committment, the ClearBlue digital ovulation tests are really good too.
1060179 tn?1285808658 s very high!!! Usually the LH level is above 20 on the surge day (and less than 7 before then). Could this be your estrogen (estradiol) levels and not LH?
Avatar f tn Hi there, I am getting daily blood work with my fertility specialist from CD 9 through to the day after I ovulate (usually CD 15). We always BD almost every day starting CD 8 through to 3 days after my LH surge. HOWEVER, this time was different :( My blood work should I had my LH surge yesterday morning (I always find out the results the day after my blood work when I go in for the next day's blood work). Well, we did not BD last night - DARNIT!!!
Avatar f tn In cycles up until this point I only have two bars for a two to three days then it goes up to three bars which is the peak and the LH surge. Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this. I'm suppose to have a progesterone test next week and that's suppose to be 7-8 days after LH surge but so far that hasn't even happend. Earlier this week I had a follicle study and the results were ok and the doctor felt I should peak the next day from what she saw during exam.
Avatar n tn I am using the monitor for the first time and am 99% sure it missed my LH surge. The LH line on the test stick got darker and darker to day 12 and then got lighter, but it never got darker than the estrogen line. I think i had a short sure either after testing day 11 or day 12, but the surge was gone before the 24 hours was up and I tested again. I had all of the signs of ovulation (cm, sex drive, ovulation pain) late on day 12.
Avatar n tn I think it is similar to the ClearBlue Easy Fertility Monitor which is supposed to detect an increase in estrogen, which is supposed to occur prior to the LH surge. If I remember correctly, chloride ions are supposed to increase even before estrogen does, so it really lets you know when your most fertile days are. The only problem I hav ever heard about the device is that it can beep several times during the night when you first start using it.
Avatar n tn t I have low levels of estrogen, but I have endometriosis? Where is the estrogen coming from and can I have high levels of FSH/LH at midcycle when I ovulate? Can cysts produce hormone? After the miscarriage the doctor removed the large cyst from my ovary and told me he found endometriosis. I never knew I had that disease and I don't suffer ANY problems from it unless it is the cause of my cysts and irregular periods???
1289166 tn?1285255967 Readings were high high high but not peaking. Based on midcycle u/s, RE said I should have gotten the LH surge already, and gave me an ovidrel shot to trigger ov since it was not happening on its own. He said clomid can suppress the LH surge in some women.
1438775 tn?1383261965 OPKs will only detect a surge in LH. That surge may or may not lead to actual ovulation. Sometimes LH levels may not be enough to trigger ovulation, but still can be picked up by OPKs. Another consideration is OPKs may miss the time window when the LH surge occurs. Many women's surge only occurs in a 4-10 hour window - an OPK can completely miss this when taken once or even twice a day - so they'll see a negative OPK day after day missing actual ovulation.
594189 tn?1386916607 Before the LH surge, estrogen will be the prominent hormone (as the follicle grows), and after ovulation, progesterone will peak (to sustain a possible pregnancy).
Avatar f tn I have my test done to see my E2 level and its 1255 and LH 5.9! What does this mean? Thank you all for expert advice.
415867 tn?1323365503 When the estrogen level reaches a certain point it causes the hypothalamus to release Leutenizing Hormone Releasing Factor (LH-RF) causing the pituitary to release a large amount of Leutenizing Hormone (LH). This surge of LH triggers the one most mature follicle to burst open and release an egg. This is called ovulation. [Many birth control pills work by blocking this LH surge, thus inhibiting the release of an egg.
1320252 tn?1290190343 You must have ovulated if you got a positive LH surge, right? When I was taking 50mg Clomid my uterine lining was also thinned out so my OB prescribed me Estrogen to help thicken it for implantation (and it also helped with the dryness from Clomid). Then I started taking Progesterone pills from CD15 - AF and guess what? AF was a no show. I am now almost 6 weeks pregnant so apparently that combination was perfect for me.
Avatar n tn what is a lh surge and how do i test for it and how does it work ? can i buy a test kit in the pharmacy ?
Avatar n tn I took an OPK several times during that period, but I never had an LH surge. Does this mean there is no way I am pregnant? I am now taking progesterone until I can test on the 30th. Also, should we still keep having intercourse in case I ovulate late? I thank you for your response?
170935 tn?1225371076 I used them for 3 months and whenever i detected the lh surge we made love after 6-12 hours but never got pregnant. however this time round we made love just by coincidence a day before the lh surge was detected and i am now pregnant!! so does this mean that for me when i detect the lh surge i ovulate more or less straight away and waiting a few hours means i miss ovulation? any suggestion. hope i made sense!
Avatar f tn Anyway, my question was does the line stay exactly the same until the surge, and then go back to the same after the surge? Or does it get a little darker as the LH starts building to the surge?
676912 tn?1332812551 I've never had a positive OPK. I've looked online and found that you can have an LH surge at night when you are asleep, so I may not have caught mine. I didn't use the OPKS every day this cycle, and it's hard for me to do the four hour urine hold, so I usually used them first thing in the morning. I don't know how big a difference it makes because the insert in the box says it's ok to use either. But oh well...
Avatar f tn There is about 20% of women that OPKS do not work on. It is possible that you are not o'ing. And it is also possible that you are one of the 20%. Then there is another possibility, lol. Some women's Lh surge only lasts about 12hrs. (I have had several) If that happens and you only test once a day, you could miss it. Have you ever tried bbt to see if you get a thermal shift?
