Avatar f tn I had hysterectomy in my 30s in mid 40s was having hot flashes and md put me on estrogen AND started treating Hashimoto. I developed numerous breast lumps went to MDA and found only cyst caused by the estrogen. The MD there said my hot flashes were not menopause they were from the thyroid.
Avatar f tn In addition, there has been a shortage of Armour lately and the formula has changed in the pill, so my DR wrote me an RX for cytomel 5mcg twice in the AM and levothyroxine 0.05MG one in the AM as a back up ( in case I cant get my Armour RX filled ) Is it OK to switch from Armour to the cytomel/levothyroxine and is the dosage equivalent ? I notice when I take my Armour, I feel very hot/warm and somewhat irritable afterwards for a few hours. Is that a normal side effect?
Avatar m tn Inadequate levothyroxine dosage will produce or fail to ameliorate the signs and symptoms of hypothyroidism. Hypersensitivity reactions to inactive ingredients have occurred in patients treated with thyroid hormone products. These include urticaria, pruritus, skin rash, flushing, angioedema, various GI symptoms (abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea), fever, arthralgia, serum sickness and wheezing. Hypersensitivity to levothyroxine itself is not known to occur.
Avatar f tn Hi I was put on 50mcg Levothyroxine in January this year and I am now on 125mcg Levothyroxine. This was increased in June. Although my latest TSH result has shown up as normal my doctor thinks I am on the correct dose but I am feeling more hyperthyroid than hypothyroid. I have ordered a FT3, FT4 and antibody test and this is booked in for next week.
1363339 tn?1338771053 Hi, I'm scheduled for echo and the treadmill next week. I'm taking progesterone, estrogen, levothyroxine, hidrocortisone daily. If I continue taking my meds, will it effect the tests. If I need to stop taking the pills, how many days prior the test. This is my first for these tests. Thank you.
Avatar n tn I am 45 yrs old and have had hormone tests done suggesting estrogen dominance. My allergies have gotten worse over the past two years. I am cold all the time (body temp 97.5), fatigued, anxious with various other symptoms. My recent thyroid tests were as follows: Free T4 - .61; T3 Total - 75.53; TSH - 2.21; Anti-TPO - 600 and Thyroglobulin Ab - 210. Based on how I feel, I believe I have hypothyroidism but my doctor says 'no' and I should retest in a year. What are your thoughts?
Avatar f tn Just prior to menstruation, estrogen levels drop in women and a drop in estrogen may decrease magnesium levels. One study found that cell magnesium level were significantly lower patients with premenstrual symptoms than in controls. Heart palpitations is one of the many possible symptoms of low magnesium. Maybe try taking magnesium supplements next month to see if you see an improvement.
Avatar n tn At that time I ended up being referred to a gastroenterologist and also had an ultrasound of my liver and gallbladder. Everything checked out fine and my levels were at the high end of normal. My endo then switched me to Levoxyl, upped the dosage and I became hyperthyroid with heart palps, breathing problems, etc. Then my dosage was reduced and changed back to synthroid and I became hypo with a TSH of 28. Finally, I made my endo switch my meds to Armour Thyroid.
Avatar f tn Test showed high testosterone, high estrogen, and darn near no progesterone. Prescribed est. and prog. and those are supposedly good now...but if I'm normal how come i feel AWEFUL? I'm exhausted, wake up 3 or 4 times throughout the night, am gaining a LOT of weight (30 lbs in the last 6 months) and while i admit i dont always eat healthy...there is NO way im eating enough to warrant that...
Avatar m tn My tsh levels are normal and I am on Levothyroxine. The only other meds I take are BP (2 kinds), cholesterol, and estrogen. I use Dramamine regularly for dizziness. Vitamin D deficiency six years ago, treated with high prescribed doses of Vitamin D for a few weeks. I am finally going to a neuro next week, at Stanford Univ. Please help me with possibilities, things to ask, or tests that should be considered.
Avatar f tn Has there been a cause determined for the excess estrogen and/or low progesterone and testosterone? Has anyone suggested you may be beginning peri-menopause? The reproductive system, along with the adrenals are part also part of the endocrine system and all hormones need to work in sync in order for us to feel best. Some reproductive hormones are produced in the adrenal glands. Cortisol levels can affect levels of other hormones.
200220 tn?1361951554 My holistic doctor gave me natural progesterone cream to use to help me stabilize my moods and pick up the free estrogen that is floating in my body. My question to you is it dangerous to use with taking levothyroxine 37.5 with having hashimotor disease. My doctor is an MD also and seem to be very knowledgeable about the thyroid along with helping me with celiac disease. What is your experience with this natural product.
Avatar f tn Okay, I was diagnosed with hashimotos and have been also taking Prometrium for over a year. Doing really well on it. I also developed what appears to be a fibrocystic breast (just one) going to get a mammogram just to rule out anything bad, etc. Well, recently, I have lost some weight...suddenly the breast condition got worse, I started spotting day 9 of cycle after stopping period on day 7 and I am having headaches.
Avatar f tn 0) There was no category for T3 and everything else was normal. I was prescribed 50 mcg of Levothyroxine per day 3 weeks ago as well as 1.25 mg of vitamin D to be taken once weekly. Neither seem to be helping. Sometimes the Levathyroxine seems to make things better and sometimes worse, causing my heart to speed up more, palpitations to increase and a tightness in my neck. The heart palpations are scary. I don't understand why I am having Hyperthyroid symptoms. Any suggestions? More time?
Avatar n tn m still taking levothyroxine. last week i had blood test and i had 4,1 TSH and 13,0 FT4.
Avatar f tn Progesterone also helps support the thyroid, some woman are able to stop the thyroid drugs once it kicks in as it was actually the progesterone deficiency that caused the problem in the first place. Only in rare cases is estrogen needed, and then, it should be natural and used only for a short time. The progesterone can be used forever, it is perfectly safe.
Avatar f tn i have been diagnoed underactive thyroid for 11 years now, i get my blood levels measured avery 6 months and they are stable, i take 200mcg levothyroxine daily, so how come i still get all the symptoms, hair loss, dry skin, feel cold, depression, tired, and i was never so heavy as now, ever, seem to have a slow metabolism, although if i strict diet it does slowly come off, but whos gonna diet theyre whole life,i do eat healthily, always low fat options, welcome any opinions
Avatar n tn I have severe joint pain and I am hyperthryoid. I also need estrogen. I will post any success I have in getting relief to the joint pain! Good luck!
955035 tn?1246539172 Have you ever had a female hormone panel done? This would include estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and free testosterone, among other hormones.
Avatar f tn I have not seen anyone since 2012, because I had no idea that I had an issue until I started looking at this website. And every month I feel physically worse and worse. I have an appointment finally with an endocrinologist coming up soon. My question is this, the adrenal gland and its production of hormones, such as estrogen, testosterone progesterone, DHEA. Those of the only ones I know of I’m sure there are more. As a woman gets older I love that hormone production is greatly reduced.
Avatar f tn I know there is not much out there, just Levothyroxine and Synthroid to try. I tried Synthroid in the past and it feels the same, maybe worse. What do people do that cannot tolerate meds but still need them. I am 51 years old. I know I am getting menopausal. Is there any studies on falling estrogen and not being able to tolerate medicine you have been taking for 10 years.
4128244 tn?1350073611 estradiol is a major form of estrogen, and as both goolarra and I posted, estrogens will raise the TSH, because estrogen binds the thyroid medication, so it can't be utilized by the body.
1139187 tn?1355706647 I was on testosterone. They found out my estradial was high and gave me a estrogen blocker. Half my symptoms dissapeared. No more nausea and the anxiety is better. I am still not there yet. But i can taste it!! Still the ear ringing but not as bad. Im getting there. Check out my new labs. I cant tell if this is from the thyroid increase, or because i heard high estrogen blocks the thyroid (or both). The dr. bumped me from 320 to 340 mcg t4.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm 19 years old and I have Hypothyroidism. I've been on Levothyroxine since December and my dosage is currently 125mg daily. QUESTIONS: What tests can I request my family doctor to do on me? Could these lingering symptoms be caused by depression? By anemia? By vitamin deficiencies? By inadequate thyroid medication dosage?
Avatar f tn Also quitting your medication - could shock your adrenals and estrogen levels and make this a more complex issue.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure in 1998 at 29 with an FSH of 165 and estrogen less than 10. I used loestrin as HRT for about 8 years and then started having much trouble tolerating it, I couldn't get through 1/2 a pack without extreme bloating, fatigue and breast pain.
Avatar f tn Another good one is Tirosint, which is a gelcap and contains only glycerine, water, Levothyroxine and gelatin. Tirosint tends to be the most expensive, but the manufacturer has programs for those who qualify. Is TSH the only thyroid related blood test that's being performed regularly? What about Free T4 and Free T3? Those are the actual thyroid hormones.
