Avatar f tn I had preeclamplsia with my first so I'm high risk again this pregnancy. I'm 15wks and this week have started experiencing the hypertension again despite being on meds since 6wks. Whether it goes to preeclamplsia or not, with hypertension I wont be going full term because its just too dangerous for my body. Baby is doing great tho.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with high blood pressure when i was 18yrs old (when iwas only 125lbs and a cross country runner) My doc monitored my BP for about 2 months, did an EKG and put me on an ace inhibitor. I never questioned it i just took the meds. I moved 3 yrs later and saw a new doc and he continued my current meds...at 26 i was switched to Aldomet 250 mg 2x day...due to the fact that i was to be married and start a family.
Avatar f tn I am high risk for high blood pressure because I get high blood pressure on birth control with estrogen even though with out the birth control I am close to 110/65 average.
Avatar f tn I have high blood pressure and a brian aneurysm and a pituitary brain tumor...had a hysterectomy 22years ago and was on HRT up til recently when this tumor started to mess with my body..my question is I read the high doses of Vitamin E can help with hot flashes but there is a concern if you are on Blood pressure meds...so how much a day could I take without messing up my drugs?
Avatar f tn Another possibility is that, if you happen to be taking estrogen replacement therapy, the estrogen can trigger high blood pressure. Estrogen acts like a salt, when it comes to blood pressure. A fourth possibility, and this would not even occur to me except that I myself got the diagnosis at exactly your age, is that of a bicuspid aortic valve (BAV).

Avatar n tn If you already have essential hypertension, then anything you do or take that tends to elevate blood pressure will tend to aggravate your already high blood pressure and will make it harder for your antihypertensive medication to do its job. So I still say, look for the simple stuff first, even though I do respect ed34. If there isn't a simple answer, then start ruling out the more complicated stuff.
Avatar f tn I will be high riak for every pregnancy because birth control with estrogen in it makes me have high blood pressure so there is a chance that the pregnancy will do the same due to extra hormones. However a woman who is obese may be high risk for gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, still birth, etc. but with weight loss they may not classify a subsequent pregnancy as high risk.
Avatar f tn I just came across a reference that states that high TSH and high t4 could mean a possible TSH secreting pituitary adenoma. Here is the source: http://www.thyroidmanager.org/Chapter6a/chapter%206a-text.htm Thyroid Manager is a great source. Is your daughter taking any medication? Some can raise the t4. I'm not familiar with the THBR. Sorry. I would seek out an endocrinologist to explain these tests, if you haven't already.
Avatar f tn I was about to start my fourth month of clomid tonight but just got my blood test results back. The nurse told me that my estrogen levels are a bit too high and that I should NOT take my clomid this month. Today is my cd 5 and my estrogen level is 162. Can anyone help me to understand what this means and why can I not do clomid this cycle? I am trying to conceive my first child and am very confused.

Avatar f tn It is also considered to be safe to use oral contraceptives containing estrogen if your blood pressure is well-controlled. If your blood pressure is fairly labile, you may be better off with a progestin only method. The mini-pill is less effective than regular preparations. Depo-provera is effective, but watch out for weight gain that could worsen blood pressure issues, and take calcium supplements in addition. Hope this helps!
Avatar n tn Infection is the most common cause CRP levels fluctuate from day to day, and levels increase with aging, high blood pressure, alcohol use, smoking, low levels of physical activity, chronic fatigue, coffee consumption, having elevated triglycerides, insulin resistance or diabetes, taking estrogen, eating a high protein diet, and suffering sleep disturbances, or depression.
Avatar n tn Arimidex lowers body’s estrogen levels and hence is effective in estrogen dependent breast cancers. However, lowering of estrogen increases the risk of heart and cardiovascular diseases. Hence a woman becomes more susceptible to high blood pressure, deep vein thrombosis, angina and heart attack. Do discuss this with your doctor. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
Avatar m tn Both my brother and sister have High Blood Pressure and when they do not have the medication, and the pressure starts to rise it seem they get very moody and snippy. I honestly beleive that women who are going thru menopause and have mood changes are because of loss of sleep. but thats my opinion.
1052633 tn?1311872678 in april of this year i was seeing a fertility specialist who had told me that my fsh levels were high for my age (32). she then had me do another blood test and again called me with bad news stating they are high and thats not good. (I plan on doing the IVF procedure because i have one tube and it's damaged with scar tissue and the one i used to have was destroyed from a very bad ectopic pregnancy. i do however have a healthy 13 yr old so i should be ok for IVF, or so i hope.
915119 tn?1341948989 if your blood pressure is too high it restricts the blood vessels and can stop baby from getting enough blood and oxygen. if it gets extremely high it can cause seizures. are you seeing spots or having blurred vision? I agree with bjbbeauchamp, try nor to stress! and if it goes up any more then go to L&D! its better to be safe than sorry! I have had HORRIBLE swelling in my legs for months now, but no protein in my urine until the other week.
Avatar n tn I am 35 years old and never thought I had HIgh Blood pressure until recently. As I am into my higher studies, when visiting the doctor for a fall, they told me I had high pressure readings of 160/110. My pulse was also high, ( I was diagnosed with tachycardia some years ago which was again put down to stress.) They put it down to anxiety and stress, and gave me atenenol 25 mg. Since then I have developed a fear, and my pulse raises whenever the doctor checks my pressure, and my pressure is high.
Avatar f tn 2wks tomorrow since surgery and still have tingle in feet and hands, and blood pressure still not going down, was 146/97 today. I just dont understand to be like 97/72 up till i fall asleep for surgery and to wake up this high, and stay that way. Dr says he dont know what to do next, what it could be. I know this cant be good to go on now with this high of blood pressure and nothing done about it. I dont know where to turn to next.
Avatar m tn 4 years ago after the birth of my child I was on 4 different medications. Today none, and my blood pressure is 100/60. All the ideas mammo gave you on exercise, low salt diet and more is what helped me get off medications and get my BP back on track. It isnt good to walk around with uncontrolled blood pressure so for sure get in as soon as you can and get things sorted around with your doctor.
Avatar f tn I have had high blood pressure my whole pregnancy, often as high as 170s/100. I was put on meds and told modified bed rest last week at 35w5d. Ihave not had to do urone collection as when it spikes they make me come back the following 2days for checks and urine samples. If it os still high this week at my 36w5d appt while on the meds i think they will probably put me on full bed rest until i deliver.
Avatar m tn I am a 58 year old female and my question is about high blood pressure and sex. While I understand blood pressure rises during sex I wonder if it is normal to get a sudden onset pounding migraine. This is new the last two times at climax. I was curious and checked my blood pressure the last time and it was 160/88. The headache is sudden and severe and remains for hours after. Is this something I should be concerned about?
