233616 tn?1312787196 estrogen liver fibrosis ....and get 684,000 hits. Apparently the benefit to protecting the liver is well documented and the research has been around for a while. Yet my liver doctor didn't mention it, or suggest I go back on it.....but I did it through my endocrinologist as soon as I found out. I'm wondering how many ladies in here are aware of this, have any doctors told you??? or whether any men have considered a small dose to help slow the progression of this disease?
566073 tn?1219434819 At your age, you are just replacing what your body would naturally give you if you had not had your surgery. You can ask your doctor about testing the tumor for estrogen and progesterone receptors. Theorectically, if your tumor has estrogen receptors, if there are any other tumor cells left, they might be stimulated to grow. But mucinous tumors in general are not stimulated by estrogen. A stage Ia cancer should be cured by a radical hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn Too much thyroid medication (especially from pig thyroid preparations such as naturethroid and armour) can cause heart disease. 2 grains is a high dose -- if continued, would divide into 1 grain in am, 1 grain in early afternoon, but levothyroxine is preferred. Any change in estrogen medications can alter thyroid hormone requirements.
Avatar f tn Since having my baby I have had extreme anxiety and heart palpitations that have caused me to see specialists and go through endless testing. I began to experience a correlation between my strange symptoms and my menstral cycle. That is why I had my hormones tested. Why would my hormones be so low? I'm only 34. I was able to sustain a pregnancy, and to my knowledge, only experienced one chemical pregnancy within the year we were trying.
Avatar m tn My question is.... having my gall bladder removed while smoking and taking pill will give me heart disease or other illnesses?????????
973741 tn?1342342773 I'm wondering about this subject? Does a woman have a greater chance of heart disease after menopause? I know age is an obvious risk factor for heart disease but am wondering about the changes after menopause as another area to consider.
Avatar m tn I am reading that even post menopausal ovaries can produce hormones that help with sex drive, and the prevention of heart disease. I feel like I am much more likely to die of heart disease, as both of my parents have heart issues. Other things I read say the ovaries and uterus are basically useless to me now and I should definitely have them taken out. Thoughts anyone?????
Avatar n tn Is there a link between taking estrogen and chrohn's disease exacerbations?
Avatar n tn There is no medical evidence of the link between heart palpitations , absence of estrogen and death from heart disease but that does not mean there is no link. That may come out later. She also says that the body produces more fat in women who don't have estrogen in order to create estrogen from fat. She thinks the small mount of whatever the ovaries produce is converted to a small amount of estrogen. This estrogen is then helpful in strengthening the vaginal wall.
Avatar f tn I am seeing a doctor this weekend and I will be asking for my thyroid test results and I will be also checking my estrogen and progesterone levels.
Avatar f tn Just prior to menstruation, estrogen levels drop in women and a drop in estrogen may decrease magnesium levels. One study found that cell magnesium level were significantly lower patients with premenstrual symptoms than in controls. Heart palpitations is one of the many possible symptoms of low magnesium. Maybe try taking magnesium supplements next month to see if you see an improvement.
Avatar f tn The estrogen in your system is at an all time high and the estrogen will generally prevent heart disease.
1074733 tn?1256231619 My blood and saliva panel came back showing a very high level of estrogen, even though I have no uterus and only 1 ovary. They call this estrogen dominance. They prescribed estrogen cream which was compounded by a pharmacist. Over the past 10 years I have had numerous doctors tell me they thought I should be on HRT for symptoms I was having, and just because of the hysterectomy.
Avatar m tn Unfortunately, removal of any part of the "reproductive" system (uterus, one or both ovaries, one or both tubes) can permanently disrupt the whole hormonal / endocrine system. The ovaries of women with all their parts produce hormones their whole lives and are critical to good health and normal aging. It's hard to say what her remaining ovary will do. It may function normally for years, sub-optimally for years or it could shut down completely at any time.
675329 tn?1297288378 if i have one ovary or both ovaries removed will i have menopausal symptoms all over again......
Avatar f tn The decision to use PHT should be made by a woman and her doctor after weighing the possible risks and benefits (including the severity of her menopausal symptoms), and considering her other risk factors for heart disease, breast cancer, and osteoporosis. If a woman and her doctor decide to try PHT for symptoms of menopause, it is usually best to use it at the lowest dose that works for her and for as short a time as possible. http://www.cancer.
Avatar n tn Femara is used in estrogen receptor positive breast cancers to prevent cancer recurrence. It decreases the amount of estrogen in the body. Estrogen protects bone strength and if estrogen levels fall then there are increased chances of osteoporosis which can result in fractures. So calcium supplements are prescribed along with femara. There are few studies that do suggest that calcium supplements increase the risk of heart attacks. Discuss it with your doctor.
Avatar m tn Having higher than normal levels of estrogen though are linked to prostate cancer and heart disease. And they are probably going to want to make sure there is nothing like a tumor in your testes. There's also all those other things like enlarged breast tissue, loss of muscle mass and erectile dysfunction that can happen too if estrogen gets too out of control for a dude. None of this is to scare you, but just that you want to follow up on this.
Avatar f tn ve been reading about as I asked for progesterone and estrogen testing - thyroid was not something I considered. Thanks for any help or insight.
Avatar n tn In coronary MVD, plaque can scatter, spread out evenly, or build up into blockages in the tiny coronary arteries. Spasms (vessel tighting) of the small coronary arteries also can prevent enough oxygen-rich blood from moving through the arteries. This too can cause ischemic heart disease. Symptoms would be angina or no pain with exertion.
Avatar f tn I fluctuate between borderline/mild hypo and normal (I also have a history of hyper) and I get heart palpitations (PVCs and PACs) too. There seems to be some correlation between my palpitations and my thyroid hormone values (they seem to get worse when my labs are more hypo) and I actually never had them before my thyroid issues started. Most doctors are convinced that hypo can't cause heart palpitations, but based on my experience and what I've heard from others, it can.
