Avatar f tn The frequency of side effects, such as headache, decreased in those who took birth control pills containing lower doses of estrogen and did not occur in those who took birth control pills containing progesterone. Treatments: The medications of choice to stop a menstrual migraine are nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs).
Avatar f tn I had them too around that time. My doctor said it could also be estrogen headaches. Mine only lasted 2 weeks and I haven't had them since. Hopefully yours go away soon!
Avatar f tn Hello~Your hormones (estrogen and progesterone) could be out of balance, as could your thyroid. If possible, I would see your doctor and have him/her run some tests to see if you have a low/high thyroid and what your estrogen/progesterone levels are. Also, if you are under an abnormal amount of stress, you may have issues like this.
Avatar n tn suggested that she discontinue her birth control pill which contains 35 mcg. estrogen. The head aches occur during her period and the pill days, too. Is there a birth control pill that does not cause migrains? She was on the 25 mcg "low" estrogen pill, but she had an ovarian cyst.
Avatar f tn I awoke from my last surgery with a patch on and have used it as directed since. I use to get hormonal headaches every other month or so and was able to successfully treat them with one or two prescription pain pills for headaches. Now I'm getting headaches just about every day and some of them are so bad I cannot function at all for as long as 24 hours. This lead me to go to my GP who ordered blood work as she thinks I'm getting too much estrogen. I'm awaiting the results.
3944505 tn?1348709677 ve been getting major headaches nausea dizzy spells and hot flashes.. I rarely get headaches maybe one or two a year but I've been getting 3-4 these last two weeks. 1955360 tn?1329356724 I'm 10 weeks pregrant and it seem like everyday I'm having headaches that are out this world. I got to bed with a headache and wake up with a headache. Is there anyone else dealing with this same problem? Are there any suggestions to anything I need to change in my diet or day to day activities.
Avatar n tn Also from my doctor, I learned that one can be both estrogen deficient and estrogen dominant at the same time if progesterone and estrogen are low, and due to our exposure to estrogens & phyto estrogens in environment and foods. So alot of balancing is required and diary your symptoms for your doctor, and balancing your doses of the creams based on your symptoms, always start low and work up, also know that with estrogen, the symptoms of too much and not enough, are the same.
Avatar n tn Common causes are tension, migraine, eye strain, dehydration, low blood sugar, hypermastication and sinusitis. A large percentage of headaches among women are caused by ever-fluctuating estrogen during menstrual years. This can occur prior to, or even during midcycle menstruation. Treatment of an uncomplicated headache is usually symptomatic with over-the-counter painkillers. However, if it persists, it would be best to have this evaluated by your doctor.
Avatar n tn My concern is that I was previously on Zoloft 50mg. and it gave me real bad headaches raised my blood pressure and sent me on a emergent run to the hsp. emergency room,,I am concerned about starting this medicience that it will cause the same problems or worse. My O.B. says they are different and that I should try the effexor. What does everyone else think?
310089 tn?1232481423 I also do not believe that higher estrogen levels is indicative of a girl baby. The headaches do not affect all pregnancies as most of us know that one pregnancy to another can be very different regardless of the sex. My headaches lasted a couple weeks and now they are gone. I used Tylenol to get through them but nothing else really helped. I had an ultrasound at 15 weeks and was unable to tell the sex. I was so hoping to find out something but didn't. I am now hoping for next month.
Avatar f tn Even if you get by with few symptoms, medical studies show that estrogen deficiency caused by ovary removal has many adverse health effects, some silent and/or longer-term and others more apparent and immediate. You can find the studies in PubMed by searching for something like "bilateral oophorectomy long-term health.
Avatar f tn Your estrogen levels have reached their peak in pregnancy and usually cause lots of headaches. They have the same symptoms as a sinus headache as the estrogen can cause swelling in the nasal cavities.

266539 tn?1281402152 My doctor took me off my bc because it had estrogen in it and he thought that was causing my constant headaches and I haven't had a headache since I stopped. What other forms of birthcontrol are there that have no hormones?

Avatar n tn I have been taking estrogen only hormones (enjuvia) and am now learning more and think i may also need progesterone. My real question is can a hormone imbalance be causing my HEADACHES? I have been to 3 ENT drs. a neurologist and on antibiotics for 3 weeks. Once i went off the antibiotic i felt okay for 1 1/2 weeks and now my HEADACHE is back.I have never had anything like this before. I was also having leg cramps after my surgery and my dr. told me to take calcium.
Avatar f tn and it is a lot of swelling and inflammation that occurs with that and with swelling comes tighter space for blood and CSF to flow which with Chiari is tight already..... Deff talk with your OBGYN and NS to see the best way to deal with this.....not knowing your age....there are things I wish I knew when I was younger as I went into early onset menopause....I also have Hashimoto's thyroiditis and that can affect hormones and in effect affect headaches too.
1461398 tn?1285853166 If you are a female and in menopausal age group then consult a gynecologist and rule out hormone imbalance and low estrogen as the cause of your headaches. Since a confirmed diagnosis cannot be given on net please discuss these possibilities with your doctor once. You may need some tests for confirmed diagnosis which may include blood tests, MRI etc. Hence apart from medicines it is important to rule out various causes of headaches. You should consult a migraine and headache specialist.
Avatar n tn I’m 48 yrs old & perimenopausal. I have hormonal headaches and breast tenderness. Recent symptoms - brain fog during my period, insomnia and itchiness (from the inside, out). An antihistamine tablet will work for a day or two but then the itching returns. It is not due to dry skin or a food allergy. I have no hot flashes or vaginal dryness though I have had an occasional hot flash when under stress or excess sweating but not on a regular basis.
Avatar f tn Anybody else on here have sex issues from taking any nucs. I feel my test levels are down and Estrogen up. My erections are not what they used to be and I don't last long anymore. I'm feeling like self medicating hrt because I know doctors aren't going to give you a script unless you're extremely low. I hate estrogen pills like arimidex and aromasin. Is cialis safe to take with Entecavir?
Avatar f tn Test showed high testosterone, high estrogen, and darn near no progesterone. Prescribed est. and prog. and those are supposedly good now...but if I'm normal how come i feel AWEFUL? I'm exhausted, wake up 3 or 4 times throughout the night, am gaining a LOT of weight (30 lbs in the last 6 months) and while i admit i dont always eat healthy...there is NO way im eating enough to warrant that...
Avatar n tn t have insurance for these tests and they are very expensive. I should mention that I am NOT prone to headaches. I am 41 years old and can count on one hand how many times in my life I've had a headache and now I have this every day, all day long. I am sleeping fine (which I find strange) but as soon as I wake up in the night or morning, it is right there.
