1752977 tn?1418221796 Okay, so this is really embarassing but, I am sooo curious. Since Sept 2010, I've miscarried 4 times. Been getting some tests done and so far everything is normal But, for the last while (more so now which is why I'm asking) I've noticed hair growing on my stomach and a few on my breasts? Is this normal? If not, what usually causes that? Ty in advance.

Avatar f tn I believe my doc once told me that getting put on birth control can help control that by increasing the amount of estrogen and progesterone in your body. I am unsure though because I am on the pill and still get the occasional hair or two on my neck.
Avatar n tn Hi there, Oral contraceptives and birth control pills contain estrogen. There may be an initial increase in hair growth or reduction in hair loss experienced by few women when they start taking birth control pills or estrogen replacement pills. Since you have been taking it continuously estrogen levels will stabilize and the natural hair growth cycle might be restored. Long term use of hormonal contraceptives should be discouraged.

Avatar n tn Testosterone causes hair growth. I wonder if you could safely take that alone for hair growth? However, it could cause some facial hair. That would be something you need to weigh the pros and cons. From what I understand, hair loss is a normal part of menopause. I guess it depends on the degree of your hair loss as to whether you want to do something about it. This is the Ovarian Cancer forum. You might want to find an area of MedHelp that would pertain more to your particular problem.
Avatar n tn Adrenarche is what you are talking about, the adrenal gland kicks in a little earlier than normal giving us some expression of normal but annoying male hormones causing body odor, pubertal hair growth and some advancement of bone maturity, however, obesity itself can advance the bones as well and I would seriously look at the weight to be sure that the weight is controlled well, rapid weight gain and increased insulin production can also stimulate bone maturation and also adrenarche is influenc
Avatar f tn Since you used it for such a short amount of time, it probably only caused the growth of pubic hair and not much else. Did it at least correct the fused labia? Well, I hope that you get some answers from the endocrinologist. Good luck to you and your baby girl.
Avatar f tn Estrogen controls many cellular processes including growth, differentiation and function of the reproductive system. Estrogen is also responsible for the growth and maintenance of the skeleton and the normal function of the cardiovascular and nervous systems. There really isn't any easy description of these, I suggest asking your physician, he/she will be able to give you a better idea of what these two do in easy, to understand terms. I got the above info from the net.
Avatar m tn Hi there. Welcome. We do have a PCOS forum just to let you know. They may be able to help you. I, in all honesty, would call your doctor. They can talk to you over the phone or have nurses that do so. They've recently prescribed medication (the cream) that isn't doing what they had hoped. I'd allow them to guide you through what to now do.
Avatar n tn m taking other vitamins, including Biotin, B complex, fish oil, iron, zinc, vitamin D, and magnesium, in hopes of encouraging hair growth, but my hair continues to fall out and it's becoming very concerning. I had my labs checked shortly before starting the DIM supplements and everything came back normal, though my TSH was fairly low (0.74), but my doctor said that the lower that number was, the better, despite the fact that I have thought I might have low thyroid for years.
Avatar f tn I was on the no estrogen pill and of course either forgot or took at different times. Luckily after this baby my husband is going for vasectomy. Yay.

Avatar f tn Any chance you are low on estrogen?
Avatar m tn birth control pill--in other words, one that contains estrogen. That will help with hair growth. The hair that you have is probably permanent but can be removed with laser or electrolysis. You definitely want to stop it now though! I also think you should call your doctor to be certain that there is no need for hormone testing--I might consider a free testosterone level and a DHEAS Good luck!
Avatar f tn The different methods of hair removal are shaving, chemical depilation by using depilatory creams, temporary epilation by plucking, tweezing, waxing and permanent epilation by electrolysis, thermolysis and laser hair removal. But if the hair growth is excessive then hirsutism has to be ruled out. Hirsutism is usually caused by hormonal imbalance and in women PCOS is one of the leading causes of hirsutism and infertility.
