Avatar m tn t get rid of it. My DHEA is fine and so is my testosterone. One year off work and I keep accumulating fat on my chest. I'm a man in my early 40's. I believe this is caused because the stress resulted in raised cortisol which robs my body of progesterone. Progesterone acts as an opponent to Estrogen.. And that's the key point here. Can anyone explain this to me..... How do you become estrogen dominant if your progesterone levels are normal?
Avatar n tn 1 When absorbed, DIM promotes estrogen metabolism to produce healthy and cancer-protective 2-hydroxy estrogens,2 and minimizes the activity of pro-inflammatory enzymes,3 thereby reducing cellular inflammation. Activating these pathways encourages remarkable weight loss and hormonal balance and provides many other benefits towards healthy aging.
Avatar n tn s body to be kept active always.Excess fat intake and lack of control on the quality and quantity of food further complicates the issue.
Avatar f tn Keep in mind I am not a medical professional. Your adrenal gland produces estrogen and I believe if you have a lot of body fat that also contributes to the problem. I may be wrong about the body fat but I don't think so. Maybe a medical professional will chime in here.
Avatar f tn So, I am attempting to raise my estrogen and get the Progesterone out of my system. And, I use the testosterone every day. Just keep researching... and keep working out (if you are out of whack hormonally you won't feel like moving, so do keep up the research and keep advocating for yourself).... I also know that these comments are not going to apply to every individual, but I your kind of remind me of myself...
649848 tn?1534633700 That includes key hormones like estrogen, along with fat-soluble vitamins and any organic pollutants that found their way into your bloodstream as you gained weight. Adipose tissue’s tendency to store things is an unfortunate side-effect, because often we need those things to be circulating, not sitting around. Take hormones, for instance.
Avatar m tn As I understand it, when one injects testosterone (lets say Testosterone Enanthate) the body converts (with an enzyme) the excess testosterone into estrogen. The pituitary gland also senses this huge influx of testosterone and sends a message to the testes in the form of Oestrogen to shut down the bodies natural production of testosterone.
Avatar n tn I assume you had blood work done to determine your estrogen level? What is it? Do you possibly have endometriosis (endo)? Endo implants produce estrogen. Fat cells produce estrogen too so if you're overweight that could explain it.
Avatar n tn I recently read an academic article that warned that so called "natural hormones" (also called bio-identical) are really no different than man-made hormones. I also read another article that said that the only symptoms that are proven to be linked to menopause are hot flashes and vaginal dryness.
Avatar m tn I am a little stuck with my dieting. All my life I have noticed that if I eat a larger than a serving (palm sized meal) I can't lose weight. I've done all the tests for diabetes several times in life and it seems that I don't have diabetes at all. (Type 1 or 2). I can verify that standard sized meals (what most people can eat) will prevent me from losing weight. That's a mystery.... But...
Avatar f tn It could be the estrogen, but in my experience estrogen doesn't make you fat. For me, it wasn't until the progesterone that I felt bloated. It could be stress, making you eat, too.
Avatar m tn This is all in your head. Eating a pound of butter is a stupid thing to do, but just doing it once isn't going to have any long-term effects. Also, at least to my knowledge, dairy doesn't have that much to do with estrogen -- it's pretty far down on the list of foods that are estrogenic.
Avatar f tn ve been reading about as I asked for progesterone and estrogen testing - thyroid was not something I considered. Thanks for any help or insight.
Avatar n tn but, it is not sufficient AND your body will make more fat (estrone comes from the fat in women in Menopausal years and the fat will accumulate around the belly since that area offers easy access to the estrogen for the body) if you don't supplement... and, you will most likely need it... at least Some of it to reach optimal well-being. The cervix... hmmm.... I have had problems when I have not had enough estradiol and/or testosterone... again, atrophy is to blame.
Avatar n tn Hello -- I have been trying to find out whether consuming flax seed would interfere with the efficacy of the taxol / herceptin treatments that I am receiving for my breast cancer. I understand from a study done at the University of Toronto that flax seed may help to eliminate breast cancer. However, I would not want to consume anything that would interfere with my regular medical treatment. The cancer is in the left side of my lymph system. It is estrogen-receptor and HER-2 positive.
Avatar f tn estrogen that is made as a by-product from the fat in our system... and this fat is what causes the fat around our middle section so that it is readily available for use by the body since women's bodies crave estrogen)...
Avatar m tn in boys, where the testo levels far exceeds the estrogen levels and most of the fat tissues get converted into muscle tissues and gives the young boys the manly outlook. After reading various articles on gynecomastia and viewing images there of online, if you still feel that your breast development is very large, you should talk to a pediatric endocrinologist, who after checking your hormone levels may advise some remedial measures if required.
Avatar f tn Hi, Dianette tablets contain estrogen (female hormone – similar to contraceptive pills) No one is certain what causes fibroadenomas. However,it is believed that estrogen sensitivity may play a role, because fibroadenomas develop during a woman's reproductive years and can increase in size during menstruation or pregnancy. Because you have multiple fibroadenomas in your breast, you should discuss with your doctor about this matter and see what he/she advises you. P.
Avatar f tn I am now on estrogen replacement, bioidentical estrogen and Im sooooo much better. It takes alittle while to tweak the dose but it is so much better. Fat cells do produce estrogen, but it is not the most effective estrogen so I would say you need some replacement. I hope this helps. We have all been through this.
Avatar f tn 8, taken PRIOR to HRT, was at the same level one month AFTER my first estrogen pellet was inserted. Where did the estrogen go? Did it turn into fat, which would explain the weight gain?
Avatar m tn in April 2011, estrogen and progesterone receptor status is a predictive marker of early breast cancer and post-treatment relapse. As you get older your hormone levels decrease, and your fat cells in your body increases. This can cause higher levels of aromatase, an enzyme that converts testosterone to estrogen. The treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia in men and breast cancer in post-menopausal women is to use a class of drugs called aromatase inhibitors.
492936 tn?1244651570 Hi Heather, I have heard of it.. read about it in Newsweek. I don't know the whole diet, but I did read that whole milk makes big fat juicy eggs, so for the past 2 months I have been drinking a glass of whole milk every day. I forgot how delish really cold whole milk is. I'm lucky b/c we have a small organic dairy nearby and I go and pickup a half gallon of it served in the old fashioned glass bottles.
Avatar f tn Hi, Yes, I think that your mom would benefit by taking Arimidex. If the tumor was estrogen receptive (even if weak)and the cancer was locally advanced,I think that it's best to follow the recommendation given by her Doctor. Arimidex is an aromatase inhibitor. It works by blocking the enzyme aromatase (found in the body’s muscle, skin, breast and fat) which is used to convert androgens (hormones produced by the adrenal glands) into estrogen.
Avatar f tn Since I started perimemopause at the age of 40 I have been putting on abdominal body fat, hip and lower back fat with no weight gain. I only weight 123 lbs and am 5' 4", I have never been on a diet. Don t really want to go on a diet because I am skinny and will look unhealty. But what do I do with the abdominal fat.
Avatar f tn Test showed high testosterone, high estrogen, and darn near no progesterone. Prescribed est. and prog. and those are supposedly good now...but if I'm normal how come i feel AWEFUL? I'm exhausted, wake up 3 or 4 times throughout the night, am gaining a LOT of weight (30 lbs in the last 6 months) and while i admit i dont always eat healthy...there is NO way im eating enough to warrant that...
