Avatar f tn ve been reading about as I asked for progesterone and estrogen testing - thyroid was not something I considered. Thanks for any help or insight.
Avatar f tn s been almost a year now. I went off Tamoxifen Sept 23/08 and have had some improvement with my eyes, but they still bother me considerably. I have been tested for SS and was ENA pos and the only antibody positive was JO-1. My mouth is not bad, mostly just the eyes. Are these test results conclusive of having SS? As a side note: I'm an intermediate metabolizer of Tam. Now they want to put me on an Aromatase Inhibitor with zoledronic acid as I have osteoporosis.
1017213 tn?1301771273 If you also have dry mouth and dry eyes and perhaps jointpain you should get tested fir sjoergrens also. If I would have been diagnosed earlier I might have been able to prevent the jointpain. But the numerous quacks I have seen never tested me. I had to ask for the test myself it took over 1 year for them to fugure it out.
Avatar f tn 75 within 2 months) 6 weeks after stopping BCP because my TSH was at 3.98 - thought to be slightly hypo and the cause og my symptoms - and it stopped the crazy menstruation, but not the extremely heavy bleeding OR the pelvic pain. And it made me have hot flashes AND my hair to come out by the handful. After 6 months of suffering on Synthroid, I got off of it.
Avatar m tn Our gynecologist did not inform us either on the side effects. Now she developed dry and painful eyes, dry mouth and joint pain. Had we known the full list of side effects we would certainly not do it. My question is: can we do anything to get rid of the effects of Lupon sooner. My understanding is that this medicine simply stops the pituitary gland in oder to lower the estrogen level. Unfortunately it controls many other things beside estrogen. Is there some kind of antidote ?
Avatar m tn Hair loss due to alcohol consumption is mainly due to the fact that alcohol affects the levels of estrogen and zinc in the body, which subsequently affect hair growth. Excessive drinking RAISES the level of estrogen, high levels of estrogen result in hair loss. Excessive drinking REDUCES zinc levels in the body. Zinc is essential for healthy hair growth. In addition, constant consumption of alcohol can also induce a lower level of vitamins B and C in your body.
Avatar f tn Has anyone taken over-the-counter estrogen? Did you find that it worked just as good as the prescription estrogen, better or worse? Thanks.
Avatar m tn Spider veins are commonly found on the face and trunk of cirrhotics and are caused by high levels of the female hormone estrogen. A damaged liver can upset the balance between the male hormone testosterone and the female hormone estrogen. This can lead to to gynecomastia (breast enlargement) and other female characteristics in male patients with cirrhosis. Good luck with your visit!
405855 tn?1217100767 What is the correlation of estrogen and follicles? What should the estrogen number be before ovulation. Can this number be affected if you are taking Femara. On CD11, I had 5 follis - 20, 15, 18, 17, 16, 12 but my estrogen was only 23, is it possible? My lining was so think 4 mm only.
Avatar f tn I remember that prior to starting treatment in Sept 09, I read somewhere that being post menopause would be a negative strike against me but I still opted to NOT take estrogen. I have been in surgical menopause since 1996, I took estrogen for 10 years and then quit because of the increased chance of breast cancer after taking estrogen so many years. I finished treatment (without taking estrogen since 2006) and I achieved SVR.
Avatar m tn I went through a serious bout of stress from my job a couple of years ago and ended up leaving. My hair thinned, I started getting fat round my waste and on my chest giving me the dreaded man boobs look. The stress and lack of sleep got so bad at times that I often forgot what day it was and could not sleep or stop my hands from shaking. Now the problem remains and I can't get rid of it. My DHEA is fine and so is my testosterone.
Avatar m tn three months ago I had Pnemonia and even with using bi -est, I am having hot flashes and night sweats which has never happened to me on a constant basis. My husband thinks the pnemunia/fever rearranged my hormones and it will take awhile for them to settle down. I am 57 and was pretty stable on the bi-est. has this ever happened to anyone else?? Thx!
429647 tn?1249753429 my ttumor was tested and it was estrogen positive i am on an estrogen blocker.. how about asking your doc if the tumor was estrogen positive or not.
Avatar f tn I am new to this forum, and new to the world of menopause. I recently had my last ovary removed due to cysts and endometreosis. I did not want to go through menopause or life with no estrogen at age 35, so I opted for the estrogen hormone therapy. I chose to go with the Estradiol patches. I think that it regulates the estrogen more efficiently and you can't forget to take a pill! Let me give you my two cents on your issues...know that I am not a dr., but am going through this myself.
587083 tn?1327120262 Soy and estrogen: I've read much conflicting information about this, but what I believe we can say for sure is that soy products (soy milk, tofu, edamame) supply a weak form of estrogen from plant sources, called phytoestrogens. With menopause your body stops making estrogen. Eating soy products seems to boost the estrogen a bit, but is that good? I was a regular consumer of soy milk, tofu, edamame and flax seed after menopause.
Avatar n tn Does anyone happen to know if there has been a connection with too much estrogen causing more neuropathy pain?? Anyone experience the onset of neuropathy after a hysterectomy? I would appreciate any info.
Avatar m tn Endometriosis feed off estrogen. The estrogen-dependent endo lesions, if left unchecked, will begin to create their own estrogen. I do want to clarify that the pill or any other form of HRT does not prevent the Endometriosis from growing. The reason it is used is to help stop the pain by stopping the periods. I was on a low dose BCP (Marvelon) for 8 yrs continuously and did help with my pain. However it still continued to grow even after deep excision surgery.
Avatar f tn The estrogen is kicking in with a vengeance and my poor husband has to just grin and bare it all. I think after this pregnancy he will think carefully before attempting to make number 2. Are you experiencing the same?
Avatar m tn All I know is that after you get pregnant you can use an ovulation monitor as a pregnancy test since it can tell an increase just like when you ovulate. I'm not sure how soon after ovulation it works though.
Avatar f tn Yes, I was on estrogen patches when I was first diagnosed with B6 toxicity, and in fact had been slowing ramping up on the estrogen. Estrogen reportedly increases your need for B6, which seems counterintuitive, since I had more B6 toxicity with higher levels of estrogen. Perhaps estrogen causes B6 to store more readily in the muscle? I have no idea, but there IS an effect, somehow. Also, during my B6 toxicity recovery, things were always much worse before my period.
1129774 tn?1279831762 I have no hot flashes, but I still have extreme dry eyes, vaginal dryness, and muscle aches in my upper back. It seems the symptoms get worse one day before I am supposed to change the patch. I have read that some women can burn through the estrogen quicker. My dr. gave me samples of the Divigel to try instead. I really want to stay on the patch bc of the ease of use. I am wondering if I need a higher dose or if it just does not work for me totally.
Avatar n tn My pathology report showed that my ovarian cancer was estrogen receptive/reactive. So why is HRT okay? My local gyno-oncologist and my gyno-oncologist at the Fred Hutchinson Center in Seattle both indicated it was okay. I like being on estrogen, but I am concerned because it seems risky. What is your opinion?
