Avatar n tn Causes of post menopausal bleeding could be ovarian cysts, endometriosis, diseases of pituitary gland, hormonal imbalance of estrogen and progesterone, thyroid hormone imbalance, cervicitis and cervical cancer. Your doctor may consider tests like blood sugar levels, thyroid function test, prolactin, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSA), estrogen, and testosterone. Imaging studies, such as ultrasound, X-ray, and CT scan or MRI brain may also be recommended in certain individuals.
Avatar n tn s still there, the adrenals produce it. If you have an estrogen positive cancer, you want to block it. You got cancer once and were really lucky it was caught early. I hate the tamoxifen too but if it saves my life, it's worth it. I do understand your pain!
Avatar n tn 1 When absorbed, DIM promotes estrogen metabolism to produce healthy and cancer-protective 2-hydroxy estrogens,2 and minimizes the activity of pro-inflammatory enzymes,3 thereby reducing cellular inflammation. Activating these pathways encourages remarkable weight loss and hormonal balance and provides many other benefits towards healthy aging.

Avatar f tn m being told I am actually in menopause but my body forgot to quit bleeding? I am scared. My Paternal Grandmother died from cervical cancer and breast cancer, when I was little (might have actually been the same cancer, you are talking the early 60s). Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas. I have no sisters, only brothers, sons...husband...but they don't talk girl stuff. Help. Please.
Avatar n tn My pathology report showed that my ovarian cancer was estrogen receptive/reactive. So why is HRT okay? My local gyno-oncologist and my gyno-oncologist at the Fred Hutchinson Center in Seattle both indicated it was okay. I like being on estrogen, but I am concerned because it seems risky. What is your opinion?
587083 tn?1327120262 Also what about the underarm deodorant that contains aluminum, could this cause cancer? My mother is 93 and never had breast cancer but my sister had it last year, was operated went for 6 weeks on radiotherapy and now she is doing just fine. Please give an answer to my question.Thank you.
Avatar m tn t try OTC medications as they can mimic soy in the body, which cancer cells can view as estrogen. It sounds like you have your cancer under control. So, talk to your doctor and see if you can come up with some alternatives that would help you with the side effects. Best wishes to you.
Avatar f tn Hello, Causes of post menopausal bleeding could be ovarian cysts, cervical causes especially cervical cancer, fibroids and endometriosis, diseases of pituitary gland, hormonal imbalance of estrogen and progesterone, thyroid hormone imbalance and cervicitis. Your doctor may consider tests like blood sugar levels, thyroid function test, prolactin, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSA), estrogen, and testosterone.
Avatar f tn I just remembered how my hair fell out a lot after my first child was born, before I was hypoT. Maybe ANY hormonal imbalance contributes to hair loss? We all know how a limping thyroid throws the entire hormonal (aka endocrine) system out of balance. Perhaps once our thyroid is balanced, we still have to contend with getting all our other hormones balanced. Maybe having our thyroid back up and running isn't enough to repair and balance the rest of our system that got out-of-whack.
1100598 tn?1413127426 I saw a Gyn and he suggests at least the removal of both ovaries and the tubes to help prevent ovarian cancer. He said that a full hysterectomy is not as necessary. But down the road, there is a chance of getting uterine or cervical cancer. I don't really want to have either surgery, but I refuse to go through chemo again. So now I don't know which surgery to have. The full hysterectomy or have just the tubes and ovaries removed?
Avatar n tn Hysterectomy is overkill since mild dysplasia oftentimes reverts to normal without any treatment. Plus, harmless conditions (minor infections, inflammation, bubble baths) can cause abnormal paps. Even low hormone levels when approaching menopause or in menopause can cause an abnormal pap. This link http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/understanding-cervical-changes/follow-up says "If you have ASC-US and are near or past menopause, your health care provider may prescribe estrogen cream.
Avatar m tn No, I've never heard of anything about estrogen or testosterone being linked to cancer. And it's not that there is no test for HPV in men... it just usually takes the form of a biopsy of a genital wart. I also understand that there are some tests that are able to brush the penis and genitals and test that for the high-risk strains. With that said, the reason that it's not commonly done is because the health risks of HPV to men is virtually zero.
Avatar f tn I've never missed a period even when i was diagnosed with cervical cancer at age 22. I am 21 days late now, took 4 urine test and all negative, i went to the doctor since i was feeling little bubbles on my left ovary and have minor pain with cramps. I took a blood test and it also came out negative. Now i just have back pain, it gets strong while im at work, and certain days i have minor cramps.
429647 tn?1249753429 only to find out that her cancer is estrogen postive and probably caused or in some part aided in the growth of her masses. This is a very touchy subject on this forum, and as much as I love and adore Mary, she and I are on opposite sides on this one. Flashes are horrid, I will agree that I have had a really tough time with them as well as the other symptoms of menopause....but, you know what....I am alive. Gather all the facts you can....best of luck.
Avatar n tn The lab report showed the cancer to be estrogen resceptor negative. I did not require any chemotherpy or other treatment. Now I am 55 and having SEVERE menopausal systoms. Are there any hormonal treatment options for me? I am very healthy otherwise.
Avatar f tn Breastfeeding was difficult and I suffered from many issues. 2 unsuccessful pregnancies (including my preemie who passed) and I realized I might possibly be on the low range of progesterone (almost 36), but more than anything I have estrogen dominance. For those who don't benefit from 17p, it may be because of same reason.
Avatar f tn Ovarian cancer is not associated with cervical cancer. However after a radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer, the preserved ovaries are more likely to produce big ovarian cysts. This may be due to the altered blood supply to the ovaries after hysterectomy. Also when removing ovaries as a second surgery after hysterectomy, there is more scar tissue and more chance of a remnant syndrome. I agree with Neta. If you are not getting a satisfactory reccomendation, please get a second opinion.
566073 tn?1219434819 At your age, you are just replacing what your body would naturally give you if you had not had your surgery. You can ask your doctor about testing the tumor for estrogen and progesterone receptors. Theorectically, if your tumor has estrogen receptors, if there are any other tumor cells left, they might be stimulated to grow. But mucinous tumors in general are not stimulated by estrogen. A stage Ia cancer should be cured by a radical hysterectomy.
Avatar f tn 2-1/2 years ago I had breast cancer and was prescribed Anastrazole which blocks the estrogen from my body as the tumor was estrogen feeding. All of a sudden and very quickly I have now developed crepey skin on my arms and cleavage. Has anyone else noticed this from taking an estrogen-blocking agent? I am so tempted to stop taking this pill, but I have 2-1/2 more years to go and don't want cancer to recur. I am 69 but I will look like 95 by the time this is over.
Avatar f tn Congratulations on your eight years! I hate to be the one to say this but there is no such thing as "out of the woods" with cancer, I wish there was. What you've done is reduced your risk for another estrogen positive breast cancer and ovarian cancer. But that doesn't mean you won't get a different type of breast cancer in the remaining breast tissue or another part of your body. But you know as well as I do that each year we are NED with cancer is better for our odds.
Avatar n tn You can google the words to got a ton of info. But, essentially it is when there is a gap between estrogen and Progesterone and estrogen is higher. It does not have to be that levels are high, just that they are not balanced.
Avatar f tn Estring, for example, releases over 90 days an amount equivalent to taking oral estrogen for just 2 days, and Vagifem, aready a very low dose estrogen product, is now available in a 10 mcg dose, as well as the original 20 mcg dose. (Both of these are reported to be preferrable to a similar third product, Estrace.) These products also appear to have a very, very low level of systemic absorption.
Avatar m tn This bleeding can be because of cervical erosion, polyps, or cervical cancer. Pap smear and ultrasonography of the pelvis should be done. Consult a gynaecologist for an evaluation. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Just to add to what Lauren said regarding tamoxifen vs. other AI's, they do work differently in the body. Tamoxifen works by blocking the body's use of estrogen, whereas AI's reduce the amount of estrogen present in the body. In studies of breast cancer patients, AI's have proven to work better than tamoxifen in preventing recurrence, and there are far fewer serious side effects with AI's than with tamoxifen, too. Tamoxifen can cause blood clots, and stroke..
Avatar f tn ve had abnormal paps and an increased risk for cervical/uterine/enfometrious cancer? My periods have been stable the last few months but I usually have either normal or too close together periods. Maybe the meds will help but I think I have thyroid probs more on the hyperside but because I'll have an abnormal test but then a normal test, the abnormals are being considered flukes. Any ideas/suggestions. I'm so tired of chasing my tail.
