Avatar n tn Femara is used in estrogen receptor positive breast cancers to prevent cancer recurrence. It decreases the amount of estrogen in the body. Estrogen protects bone strength and if estrogen levels fall then there are increased chances of osteoporosis which can result in fractures. So calcium supplements are prescribed along with femara. There are few studies that do suggest that calcium supplements increase the risk of heart attacks. Discuss it with your doctor.
Avatar m tn I am getting a ionized Calcium, which I myself requested. OK, another weird finding is that I did a Urine Calcium and it is Low...go figure. I had a Sestamibi Scan and it was "Normal", even stating that the Thyroid was clear.. BUT, here's the other weird thing; I also had an Ultrasound last year for the Thyroid (possible Nodules) and sure enough, there are indeed Multiple Cysts in both Lobes; Thyroid Echotexture is diffusely heterogenuous.
773214 tn?1295135069 I have been getting really bad headaches usually prior to AF and during and I asked my chiropractor about this today (he is also a nutritionalist) and he recommended increasing Calcium D Glucarate in my diet but also as a supplement. It is found in vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower. The purpose I guess is to remove the excess estrogen that might be in your system.
Avatar n tn i went to a dr for a ladder fall at work and an xray revealed mild aortic calcification and was given a print out describing such. Was told to go to a dr. I went and had another xray and cholestrol blood work . Cholestrol came back hight but xray did not show anything (now have changed eating habits) . dr said bring the print out as i forgot and now says not to drink ANY milk to help the calcification ? Now i feel as if I cannot eat anything as I now check labels and many food have calcium.
Avatar n tn I did not have any blood test for this its not necessary if your ovaries are gone you have no estrogen,.Calcium is good, for bones, I had restless legs and leg cramps right after my hyster but they stopped when i started bioidenticals...a multivitamin is a good idea too.
Avatar f tn Hi,thanks in advance for any responses...much appreciated and my drs. do not know. I've been menopausal since Nov.2011(my last period) and I've been diag.hypothyr.about 3-5 yrs. I'm currently on estrogen patch+progesterone+150 mcg synthroid. Wondering if anyone has had experience with hip (actually where the leg and hip meet)pain that disturbs their sleep? Also on another note wondering the best labs to target any such problems, whether hormone or thyroid related.
Avatar f tn I stopped estrogen treatment in January 2013 but have sometimes used local estrogen and lactic acid. I have had problems with my urinary opening, vaginal atrium and vagina. My distal urethra has been swollen, sore and smarting. On May 7, 2013, I found a "sand" grain betveen my labia. It vas brownish, with innumeral vacuoles and some regular structures, not exactly like microvilli. Maybe such grains, if numerous, irritate my external genitalia, urinary opening and vagina.
Avatar f tn Please be careful, there are many cancers, including Ovarian that are estrogen fed and taking ERT/HRT can cause issues. I have been told to even avoid over-the-counter supplements as they mimic estrogen. Let us know how things go.
Avatar n tn I did not realize the decrease in estrogen of menopause made me constipated and the added calcium made it even worse. Half the time I was using laxatives and I feel negating the effects of the fosimax and calcium. I was such a mess in a bad cycle. The straining I believe caused the prolapse. My sister agreed with you about the usefulness of the ovaries. Her take was the 10% functional ovaries still prevent heart palpitations, which she now has because she has no ovaries.
Avatar f tn I was without estrogen for some time in this year, and then I used local estrogen (Vagifem) and Vaginal balans. My vagina and vaginal atrium and urethra are in poor condition. I have also had osteopenia previously. And I have hypercalcemia, I should not use calcium pills. Could it be possible that I have cystitis or vaginitis? I hardly have any discharge from vagina. I had my first bacterial vaginitis in January this year. I had abnormal bleeding before it.
Avatar f tn ve been reading about as I asked for progesterone and estrogen testing - thyroid was not something I considered. Thanks for any help or insight.
Avatar n tn My doctor sent a note to stop taking calcium supplements - I never take any calcium supplements and I hate milk. Should I follow up on this or is it just something that happens from time to time? thank you.
973741 tn?1342342773 1:1 ratio. But I do not take it consistently because I'm not sure I should take it! Your thoughts??
Avatar f tn There are several blood tests for estrogen that need to be done...and doing them along side a complete saliva hormone panel is even better. Then you can see active and storage. If you do a complete saliva panel you can check your whole hormonal system just about. Also your estrogen levels change througout your cycle.
Avatar n tn I am extremely depressed and am suffering with hypothyroidism, low testosterone, too much estrogen, high cholesterol and low Vitamin D what is wrong with me? I originally thought that everything here is linked to depression from stress and anxiety so I started taking Lexapro for the depression. But my wife thinks that maybe all of these things are linked to a health issue. About 11 months ago I was diagnosed with high cholesterol and low thyroid, so I am taking red rice yeast and .
Avatar m tn Taking sheep bone soup is also recommended as a natural way to solve calcium deficiency. In fact the shelcal tab contains both calcium and Vit D and is a common daily supplement used by postmenopausal women. But at your age, you should use supplements only on a temporary basis and try to get all vitamins and minerals directly from food.
Avatar f tn I was so extremely apprehensive about the estrogen replacement but my doctor assured me many times that I would do well on it and that it was fine for me. I am so scared that maybe I made a bad choice. I wonder could I cause myself to have a recurrence because of the HRT or even cause ovarian cancer because of it? Also, should I ask my doctor to have it tested? Are there certain types of borderline tumors that would test positive for this?
Avatar n tn the product I used ( my main symptoms where hot flashes, night sweats) was the Vivelle estrogen patch. Your Dr can and should do blood work, because even though it may seem not your ovaries are still trickling just a bit of estrogen so you need to know your hormone levels ( Dr does) to prescribe correct combination or single hormone, what ever you may need.
973741 tn?1342342773 There is lots of osteoporosis in my family, both Dad's and Mom's sides. So I take calcium and D, and I am also on a low dose of estrogen with protesterone 12 days a month. Not great, since research suggests issues with the heart or breast cancer from hormones. But since I know I'll get the bent back otherwise and don't know that I'll get problems from the HRT, I'm OK with it right now. Maybe later I'll talk to the doc and see what else can be done.
577700 tn?1217892127 I final got on Armour and trying to figure out how to take it with the other meds that I take. I take estrogen and iron as well as a wellbutrin. I have been taking Armour sublingual, my question is can I take the other meds at the same time since they are being swallowed?
Avatar f tn Well, my gyno says she would like me to be on estrogen only if my labs come back showing it's needed because she says she worries about osteoperosis. I do not have a uterus so I don't need progesterone she says. I have no idea about any of this because I had my uterus removed 10 years ago and I pretty much forgot about it. But her concern is that I'm only 43 and I"m very thin with all of these thyroid issues along with the whole GERD and taking prilosec everyday.
Avatar f tn I am estrogen depleted, is what they say. I take a multivitamin, vitamin b and calcium,, Also, I have been taking my morning temp and it is 97.2. I am just so confused, as I cannot snap out of it. What do you recommend?
Avatar f tn The drug company studies suggested that a universe of people with idiopathic hypertension could control this with vitamin D3 and calcium supplements without other drugs. That does not mean that everyone with high blood pressure can lower it with these supplements. There is a genetic componant. In one test study 15-18 percent of the test subjects could significantly lower blood pressure with calcium and D3.
Avatar m tn This is all in your head. Eating a pound of butter is a stupid thing to do, but just doing it once isn't going to have any long-term effects. Also, at least to my knowledge, dairy doesn't have that much to do with estrogen -- it's pretty far down on the list of foods that are estrogenic.
Avatar m tn I had a totally NORMAL PTH level, high blood calcium, 10.5 up to 10.9, high ionizied calcium, and low vit. D also, and I had 2 parathyroid adenomas. I had lots of the same symptoms as you. I had this for several years, then changed Dr's, who saw the high blood calcium, and sent me to a Endocrinololgist, who ran lots of tests, did all the scans, and finally a MRI picked up the tumors.
