Avatar m tn Estradiol is one form of estrogen and is (or at least used to be) considered HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) although some refer to it as ET (estrogen therapy). There is estrogen-only HRT and combined (estrogen plus progestin or progesterone) HRT. Women who have a uterus who take HRT must take progestin or progesterone if they take estrogen in order to protect their uterine lining from the proliferative effects of estrogen.
Avatar f tn Hi Ladies ~ I saw my NP and told her my myriad of symptoms, sudden weight gain (November 166 to today 192), mood swings, constant crying for no reason, sex drive...whats that, anxiety, heart palps, hot flashes, and the list goes on. And she said, you just turned 40 - Welcome to Womenhood - Your in premenopause!! Yeah...Lucky me. I had a partial hysterectomy in Feb 2000 (left the ovaries) so she explained that "Surgical Menopause" hits you harder and stronger...
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed enjuvia for me today 1.25 mg/day for relief from my surgical menopause symptoms. As I stated before, I am 38 and need help deciding if I should take hormones. I have been having many symptoms of menopause and had decided that I need something to help me; I was set to start taking this when I looked it up online and see very little positive feedback. I am just scared that I will gain 50 pounds and end up with blood clots. I feel like I am losing my mind here!!
Avatar f tn I recently had some lab-work done, yet I am confused as to what the results mean. All my Physian said was to worry about dropping weight vs. my result #s, yet I am still curious as to what the mean. My FSH is 2.0 and Estradiol 41pg/ml. Any feedback is greatly appreciated lay it on me regardless of if it is good OR bad. Thank you in advance.
Avatar f tn I take Hydrocodone 10/500-4 times a day, Soma 350mg-4 times a day, Celexa 20mg-once a day, Lipitor 20mg-once a day, Enjuvia 0.9mg-once a day, Motrin 1600mgs a day, Asprin 350mg-4 times a day, all these everyday for over a year. I had to take pain management urine drug test and it tested positive for Benzodiazepines and they said my Soma didn't show up at all.

404837 tn?1290609027 however he gave me estrogen, Enjuvia, at .625 mg. He told me to take it until I get my surge. Which will probably be about 3 days. Is estrogen safe and has anybody ever had to do this?
Avatar n tn It depends on a variety of factors - number of follicles, size of follicles, age of mother, fertility issue, method (IUI, IVF, natural), Estradiol, type of medication - Clomid vs. injectables, etc. My impression is that if using IUI, more follicles increase your chance of getting pg with at least 1 slightly - if 4+ then ~ 22%. If you get pg, it increases your chance of higher order multiples (3+) slightly as well, but the chance of higher order multiples is still small - < 5%.

727136 tn?1231182664 Third time was the charm but I was left with nerve damage at this point and for those with nerve pain - think shingles or diabetic neuropathy in your lower left pelvis vs. your extremities! I take Lyrica, which helps some. Ultram ER, which does nothing and Vicodin as needed - but feel like a drug addict when getting refills at Dr. Pain Mgmt. Dr. tried a stim implant and it didn't help - due to the location - he said it was the hardest to treat - imagine my joy! Not!
374593 tn?1257879950 I always thought that the estradiol was to make sure your lining was thick enough for implantation. Because I now the drugs like clomid can thin your lining making it impossible for the egg to implant. I could be wrong though.
Avatar f tn How long after a confirmed pregnancy are you suppose to continue taking Estradiol? Just read on the internet that it can cause birth defects and I can't reach my doctor to confirm this.
Avatar n tn I know a lot of times doctors want to push for egg donors immediately with women that are trying later in their reproductive years because it is more likely to be successful, but even with the possible FSH elevation due to other treatments your level is still borderline. Have you had an estradiol test yet? Were they done on cd 2 or 3?
Avatar f tn My gyno ordered a ultrasound to check the thickness of my uterine lining and make sure that I did not have endometriosis and/or ovarian cysts. I did not. /she also prescribed low dose vaginal estradiol tabs that I could use to stop a cycles if it went beyond 7 days. She also ran lab tests on the FSH, LH, estradiol, progesterone and other things. to make sure that I can was having pituitary related issues vs other things. It takes time.
880900 tn?1467270141 There are also other options besides Premarin that you could look for that may be less expensive. Enjuvia is another option. YOu could also try other delivery systems besides oral estrogen - patches (although in Mexico may not be the best option), a spray or topical creams or gels.
Avatar n tn I am on 200 mg prometrium /5 mg estradiol, and metformin as well as tirosint. The prometrium and estradiol is for hot flashes. The metformin for prediabetes, couldn't get my a1c down, and tirosint for thyroid disease. My question is this...the prometrium and estradiol are causing my blood sugars to stay high, as well as make me very tired, as well as making me gain weight. I walk briskly at least 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour daily. I watch what I eat, low sugars, etc.
Avatar f tn I was on the highest dose and about all it did was keep my vagina well lubricated so all the estrogen must have been going straight there and giving me no other benefits. I get much better results with the estradiol tablet (generic Estrace) which is a $4/$10 prescription in the U.S. If you want to go with transdermal delivery, gels or compounded creams are options. So is Femring but it is very expensive and seems like it seldom lasts the full 3 months.
Avatar n tn t need the progesterone and can take estrogen only (Premarin vs. Prempro or even the very economical generic estradiol tablets). I'm also 63 and have been on estradiol since having a hysterectomy at age 49. I worry about not being able to get a prescription as I get older.
7649183 tn?1393014236 Menostar (estradiol transdermal system) 14 mcg per day - each 3.25 cm2 system contains 1 mg of estradiol. Vivelle-Dot® (estradiol transdermal system), 0.025 mg/day - each 2.5 cm² system contains 0.39 mg of estradiol USP for nominal* delivery of 0.025 mg of estradiol per day. Since the Menostar patch is applied once/weekly and contains 1 mg of estradiol, then that's around .14 mg/day (the data says .014 mg/day). The Vivelle-dot is applied twice/weekly and contains .
Avatar n tn I have been taking estrogen only hormones (enjuvia) and am now learning more and think i may also need progesterone. My real question is can a hormone imbalance be causing my HEADACHES? I have been to 3 ENT drs. a neurologist and on antibiotics for 3 weeks. Once i went off the antibiotic i felt okay for 1 1/2 weeks and now my HEADACHE is back.I have never had anything like this before. I was also having leg cramps after my surgery and my dr. told me to take calcium.
Avatar n tn It is hard to predict. The higher levels of estrogen may promote the midcycle LH surge, which is what urine OPKs look for. If this happens, the surge might come a couple of days earlier. This is called positive feedback. On the other hand, the higher estrogen levels my inhibit LH (this is called negative feedback) delaying the surge. You will need to test for ovulation to find out.
Avatar f tn m in my late 30s - the first month I was tested, my estradiol was 374 and my FSH 5.2. The next month my estradiol dropped to 87 and my FSH increased to 10.1. I'm at a loss of whether I should keep trying or just say that a baby isn't in my cards. Anyone else heard of estradiol dropping hundreds of points in a single month?
Avatar f tn I am currently taking Lupron and Estradiol leading up to my IVF. I am having awful headaches and some nausea with the estradiol. Did anyone else experience this and does it go away? Thanks!
