1281181 tn?1271688273 Hello, I recommend testing for both Ferritin and Vitamin D Hydroxy 25; deficiencies in both of these can cause hair loss and are common in people w/ Hashi's.
Avatar n tn Hi. How old are you? Are you post-menopausal? Exemestane (Aromasin) and similar drugs called aromatase inhibitors, will only work with women who have already undergone menopause. If you're in the reproductive age group, Tamoxifen is still your primary option for hormonal treatment.
Avatar f tn I think up to 12 weeks. Keep in mind that they have to disclose possible side effects. All these fertility drugs have crazy side effects......why is it that this is the only one noticed.??
1439094 tn?1320322110 I know several other people that have PCOS and they too did not respond to clomid and a couple of them recently got preg on Femera. The success stories for women with PCOS are greater on Femera than Clomid plus the side effects on Clomid are killer and I really didn't have any side effects on Femera! Good luck to you!!
486867 tn?1307139011 I thought he was doing really good because he barely had any side effects till about 2 or so weeks ago besides his occasional mood swings. They told us if the Clomid doesn't work they'll consider surgery for his varicocele so maybe they'll do the surgery which is what I wanted in the first place. I'm glad to hear that the side effects will go away. I felt kinda bad for him.
Avatar f tn The side effects of Incurin (estradiol) are similar to the effects of any other reproductive hormone therapy and include: hair loss, swollen vulva, swollen mammary glands, and vomiting. The most serious effect from high doses is that estrogen (the active ingredient in Incurin) may have a tumour-promoting effect in target organs with estrogen receptors, such as the mammary gland. The most dangerous effect of PPA (phenylpropanolamine) is hypertension.
Avatar n tn but, it is not sufficient AND your body will make more fat (estrone comes from the fat in women in Menopausal years and the fat will accumulate around the belly since that area offers easy access to the estrogen for the body) if you don't supplement... and, you will most likely need it... at least Some of it to reach optimal well-being. The cervix... hmmm.... I have had problems when I have not had enough estradiol and/or testosterone... again, atrophy is to blame.
Avatar f tn t seem to me that I have any other noticeable side effects except for this pulling pain in my left shoulder. I do not lose control of my left arm as it was with lindynette but the pain is quite troublesome and present almost all the time. It's irradiating into my left arm. Also I have a stinging/tingling sensation in my shoulder. Should I stop taking the pills immediately? Or is this a harmless side effect that will go away with time? Sorry for my bad English.
Avatar f tn Hi! If you were my patient, I would encourage you to consider an IUD for birth control. The Mirena can be a very convenient and effective method. If you want a regular cycle though, oral contraceptives are probably your best bet. You probably need to give then a fair try (two to three MONTHS) if you are going to use them. There will be some type of side effect with each method, so, you will have to consider which is going to be most tolerable for you. Good luck!
1081864 tn?1257519948 all my other blood test CBC CMP etc. were normal too, some to the lower side, but still in range. have irregular periods since always, lucky to have 2 boys. had always some cysts on my ovaries which always caused pain or not and went away on their own. but was hard to even get pregnant. this year my periods come every few months and some of them for 2 weeks slow, inbetween 1 was 1 week very heavy with clots, than my last one from sept.4 til sept.27 2009 slow flow. is it PCOS?
Avatar n tn What I found interesting, was that after looking at my favorite top 5, increase and decrease in libido was not even mentioned although they were quick to note side effects such as depression, vaginal dryness and legathy. Even the official website for Arimidex itself and the "largest known site for the most comprehensive list of side effects" doesn't touch libido...at all. Hmmm However, women taking this medication tell a different story.
1235159 tn?1323009319 0 I'm 40, turning 41 April 24th...... Yikes. I started femara for the first time today which is cd3 for me. I am taking 7.5 mg for five days. I'm interested in how much you are on and what cd you are taking it on? Fingers crossed for both of us!!
Avatar f tn I am not on tamoxifan because my oncologist said that it is not for postmenopausal women. The alternative was offered, but I declined. For me the side effects were not worth it. Thanks again for your input. I will be in touch at the end of the week.
Avatar m tn Women who have a uterus who take HRT must take progestin or progesterone if they take estrogen in order to protect their uterine lining from the proliferative effects of estrogen. Estrogen is not associated with an increased risk of any type of cancer (except endometrial/uterine). Studies that compared estrogen-only HRT with combine HRT showed an increased risk of breast cancer for combined but NOT for estrogen-only.
Avatar n tn HCV treatment can take on a certain drama and it may not be working out well in his household. The women may also be somehow physically exposed to the medications. Put them all away in a secure place and encourage the women to support the therapy by keeping him company, seeing to his exercise and dietary needs, and empathizing with his fatigue. I think they'll be happier and healthier if they come out of the medication loop.
Avatar f tn I am new to this forum, and I would like to ask, How long do clomid side effects last in the body? About three years I was prescribed clomid for the first time. I got pregnant on the first cycle at 50mg and I had a baby boy who will be three years old next week. Now my husband and I want to have another child, so I started clomid on the 19th of september (5-9). My estradiol level is 350 and breasts feel really really sore, along with the nausia and uterus discomfort.
Avatar f tn t totally dicount the use of Estradiol (in the form of a patch...either Vivelle or Climara) in the future. You can look at my journal comments on my profile page where I speak a bit about Bioidentical hormones ... There are comments from others there too.. and, their experiences. To Tobesmartt... there is some GREAT information from Dr. Erika Schwartz (hormone specialist) on why our Grandmothers, etc., did not suffer quite as much as we seem to be now...

Avatar f tn My doctor said that estradiol my help thicken mucus and help with pregnancy...first of all...it has killed my sex drive..I know I'm on a small dose, but i just looked up side effects and it said BIRTH DEFECTS PREGNANCY CATEGORY X. Why would he give me something like that when I'm ttc??? I've only taken three doses, but I'm stoping it. I didn't have a test come back and say that my E-2 levels were low or anything.
1065748 tn?1255876527 In doing so, we have been able to demonstrate that in such women DHEA supplementation has quite remarkable beneficial effects (see Table 1), which all can be summarized as rejuvenating ovarian function.
Avatar m tn s a female hormone w/ side effects of decreased Testosterone, decreased libido, possible ED, possible breast development in men, and a too-high level of Estradiol can also cause prostate enlargement & other issues, so I'm not sure why you'd be advocating that for ANY man, and especially not for someone already dealing with sexual dysfunction - ??
Avatar f tn Hi there. Yes your thyroid and menopause have a massive effect on each other. I am going through exactly the same thing. I was told that HRT can have a settling effect on the thyroid during this transition, unfortunately I personally cannot take it due to it's side effects. So, your thyroid medication needs can change whilst on HRT.
Avatar f tn The most common side effects are hot flashes and vaginal discharge. Some women experience irregular menstrual periods, headaches, fatigue, nausea and/or vomiting, vaginal dryness or itching, irritation of the skin around the vagina, and skin rash. As with menopause, not all women who take tamoxifen have these symptoms. Men who take tamoxifen may experience headaches, nausea and/or vomiting, skin rash, impotence, or a decrease in sexual interest.
Avatar f tn Most women have no lasting side effects from an epidural. Only about 2-3% of women have lasting side effects such as headaches and even less likely partial paralysis. The most common side effect of an epidural is a drop in moms BP. This can sometimes reduce fetal heart rate but usually isn't enough to cause any harm to mom or baby. If you go in and there are any concerns with baby's heart rate they may not allow an epidural at all.
