The reality is that there is no hard evidence -- although there is some -- supporting the efficacy of natural supplements to prevent estrogen dominance in men. There are prescription medications that are more effective, but have risk of fairly serious side-effects -- like all prescription medications. The truth is, the medical community, including most "alternative" communities such as LEF, don't really want you to be too healthy.
Is it like saying just taking longer birth control pills? What are the side effects? What are the benefits? Has FDA approved? Where i can search more about Yaz? Will it affect my future plan of having a healthy pregnancy? Also, i was told if i do want to get pregnant, i should wait 6 months after taking the birth control pills. is that true?
Others -- DoubleDose for example -- have posted extensively about post-tx side effects, including sexual side effects, and they are not young men in their early twenties like Abbas. I see these types of side effects especially troublesome to someone so young and Abbas has every right here to express his opinions. Many of us have called SOC something akin to 'toxic garbage' without using those precise words, so let the young man be and let him express. Ina, How are you doing? How is the skin?
Thanks for your advise. If I decide take clomid next cycle, I will do it at night. what about Estradiol? I have to take twice a day each time is 3 tablets. any suggestion on that?
Usually one or two Arimidex per week are enough to bring your estradiol (estrogen) level into a normal range without any bad side effects. The thing is not to give up on living a normal life as nature intended. With proper care and dedication, you can be even better than before. Good luck!
Try this little bit of info, While synthetic progesterone derivatives have been used to lower libido in men (1, 5), I believe that natural progesterone may in fact have the opposite effects in some men. I have heard patient anecdotes and from other medical doctors saying that application of a natural progesterone cream to the scrotum can increase libido and enhance orgasmic pleasure in some men..
It was hard to actually believe that I could be one of those 1% of people having those side effects, but I guess it happens. The next thing I read, that was even harder to believe, was the fact that this could easily stay with me for the rest of my life.. Why the H*** didn't the FDA get this drug off the market way back in the 70s? (When it came in the shape of Proscar, but technically was the same drug). I mean, it's been out there for a while... A lot of people should be affected by this.
Before you decide to use Lupron, make sure you understand the facts about the benefits and side effects so that you can make an informed decision. Side Effects and Lupron Depot Side effects that have been associated with the use of Lupron Depot frequently include hot flashes and night sweats, and less frequently palpitations, syncope, and tachycardias.
“Increased estradiol levels in venous occlusive disorder: a possible functional mechanism of venous leakage”, INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF IMPOTENCE RESEARCH, Volume: 17, Issue: 3, Pages: 239-242, Published: MAY-JUN 2005 As I gather, it's mostly hormonal. testosterone-and estradiol-related.
35 Based on the results of these studies, a formula called Super MiraForte was developed that combines chrysin, nettle root, muira puama, piperine, and other nutrients that showed the most potent effects in boosting free testosterone and suppressing estrogen in aging men. For those who would prefer to avoid testosterone-boosting and estrogen-suppressing drugs, four capsules a day of Super MiraForte may be considered.
Maybe if this were done fewer women would have to put up with so many side effects. Also why can't women be allowed to have a small amount of the weak estrogen estriol present in their body to offset problems caused by not having estrogen? Why must ALL the estrogen be destroyed y these drugs - seems like serious overkill in my opinion.
although i dont want to do any self medication, but still i was thinking what if i give him 1 ginseng capsule dissolving in milk to him so that he could not know that he is having any treatment, just to keep himself relaxed, but prob is i dont know at what age ginseng should be used and about its side effects,he does not smoke,no alcohol, stress level is not very high daily,i mean his prob is persistant since 2.5 yrs, any further guidance will be highly appreiated.
I told the doctor that I refuse to take the hormone therapy and anti-depressants...too many bad side effects...and my body seems to be super sensitive to ALL medications. They tried me on the lowest dose available ( anti-depressants ) 6 years ago, and it made things so much worse. Cutting the pills in half was still too much for me, hence the reason I am now very hesitant when it comes to taking anything the doctor offers me. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
They can also be used to compensate for ovary failure or similar conditions in women, and some forms of it can treat symptoms caused by prostate cancer in men. When given to women, it is necessary for them to use an effective form of birth control, due to the high risk of complications and birth defects that would exist in the event of a pregnancy.
In fact, my doctor is a patient of this condition like myself. However, he has given me the impression that some of these side effects are unique to myself and myself alone. Granted, I'll have cramps from time to time and sometimes sweats may occur. Sometimes my face is flushed red. My doctor tells me he gets cramps so bad they can bring tears to his eyes. Are there any other gentlemen that experience unusual side effects of their TRT?
Women who take 100 mg a day or more may also notice masculinising effects, and the long-term side effects of DHEA supplementation are unknown. DHEA is simply not a chemical that you want to cavalierly throw into your body; you shouldn't take it unless your serum levels are low and you're under the supervision of your doctor." How much of a party pooper am I?
They will tell you there are things like hcg he can take to counter this side effect, but I would try to conceive before he goes on anything like that. Also low sperm count would not 100% indicate low testosterone or vice versa. I would try and get an appointment with an endocrinologist who specializes in fertility issues.
She said that HRT was hard on the liver, but what she did was prescribe a cream called Estrace for me (estradiol vaginal cream) This cream is inserted in, and helps with vaginal dryness, atrophy, and I thought it helped with the hot-flashes also, and boosted my sex-drive. But for some reason, I always got asthma when I used it, although this is a very rare side effect, and only happens with people who are already asthmatic.
I agree, there are side effects that are not even on the list i hear some have during and post TX...IS possible thyroid destruction on the list...
Thank you Myron_Long, I am glad to see you've cleared up the misconception that Cialis, Viagra & Levitra are aphrodisiacs! While I can see why some may think that, it just is not the case. As you said its all about increasing the blood flow to the penis. AnD that is how these ED meds work. Increased blood flow to the penis is what physically makes a penis erect period. I agree also that many docs want to blame it on psychological issues such as performance anxiety.
I am a little over-weight, but not obese, and my gastroenterologist thinks this is the reason for my deranged Liver function. My liver ultrasound was normal. I am wondering if the raised estradiol levels could have any effect on delaying/counteracting my sexual development. I know it is marginal. Are the estradiol levels coming from my body fat; I can hardly believe this as there are plenty of males my age who are heavier and have still developed normally.
What I`m getting at is that you might have too much estrogen in your system or maybe it is a side effect of any medication. And, oh yes, anti-depressants will do that to you too. I hear your despair and you`re too young to beat yourself up about this for the rest of your life. Find a different doctor.
Just recently had another FSH level blood test, still waiting for results. My dr. recommended an Estradiol test also. I'm not sure exactly what this is, but I think it helps to identify how viable our old eggs are! Has your dr. suggested or done this test?
Actually, I read an article that showed that estrogen has a protective effect on the liver. Think about it, men have a faster fibrosis rate than women and usually get cirrhosis sooner, etc. If women go into menopause and don't replace that lost estrogen, then they are at the same risk as men and their fibrosis rate increases. It makes sense to me. That's what this study showed anyway. All I know is I am not stopping my hormones.
(09/21), There is NO change in him whatsoever, sex drive or other side effects. Are testosterone shots supposed to work immediately? Are there men who get these shots and it just doesn't work? Maybe he's not getting enough of a dose? Or as often as he needs? Or am I simply stuck with begging my husband for sex & just being shot down forever? His Dr. has scheduled his next shot to be 1 mo. from now. If it's not working now it's not going to get any better next month, right?
Recent lab work showed a high estrogen level for being post menopausal, though fat does boost estrogen levels - Estradiol level 108, Follicle Stimulating Hormone 22.6 - so my doctor had me go in for a pelvic and transvaginal ultrasound to check the thickness of the vaginal wall to be on safe side. The thickness was normal, but it was found that I have bilateral ovarian cysts with one being slightly abnormal. So now I need to go in to see a gynecologist.

-Reduced sensitivity on the shaft and head, especially when in the firm+flaccid state. -Reduced libido, which may be a side-effect rather than a cause. -Reduced energy, depression; again, possibly side-effects. -Colder penis temperature and lighter glans color, also when in the firm+flaccid state. When erect, or after taking a warm bath, the reddish/purple color returns to the glans. -Hemorrhoids, which may or may not have been present when the penile symptoms started.
Each time, the total T came back normal, sometimes at the higher side and a couple times really close to the lower side (all tests first thing in the morning). I just had a 5th test done last week with a comparison one done this morning. The one thing that always comes back low is my % of Free Testosterone (last weeks results below). I have had all the classic signs of low T, lack of sex drive, less firm erections, fatigue, especially after meals, light meals!
