1651832 tn?1301690605 It was used (and probably still is) in Bi-est, which is an estrogen combination of Estradiol and Estriol that you can usually only pick up from a Compounding pharmacy. It was big in Europe (as I recall...) but it was because it was tougher to get it here in the US and the push to use mostly or only Estradiol was not as prevalent at that time. It was also supposed to be the next big thing regarding protection against breast cancer.
Avatar f tn Estradiol, estrone, and estriol are forms of estrogen with estradiol and estrone being the primary (and maybe only) systemic forms of estrogen. My lab's ranges show a max non-pregnancy and non-menopausal value of estradiol to be 498 pg/mL and estrone 268 pg/mL. Estradiol can exceed 4300 in the first trimester of pregnancy. And post-menopausal levels are less than 54 and less than 65, respectively.
Avatar f tn That's interesting. I wouldn't think that estrogen (estriol or estradiol) cream would cause most of those symptoms. However, it could affect your menstrual cycle.
Avatar f tn I use what some consider a high dose of Estradiol (Vivelle Patch) and I use it to make sure my serum (NOT saliva) blood tests show I am in a range that if I had a period would put me at about day one or day two of my cycle. I want enough estradiol in me to make sure I can string a sentence together, avoid depression, have a sex drive, have better word retrival, have strong bones, less moodiness, have good heart function, no cramping in legs (the worst when I am low in my estradiol)...
Avatar f tn Hey, I'm a 60 year old women who is on Armour thyroid, and I am menopasal, I had a estradiol test, I believe it was 30 but should be 90 if I'm remembering right. Should I have a Progesterin test also? I read that Estriol is a good estrogene suppliment to use, I guess its used vaginally is that right? and it says I should use Progesterone along with it, do they have a progesteron that can be used vaginally? or is the cream good?
594914 tn?1245263684 estrone, estradiol (the most abundant) and estriol. Overall, estrogen is produced in the ovaries, adrenal glands and fat tissues. More specifically, the estradiol and estrone forms are produced in the ovaries, while estriol is produced by the placenta during pregnancy. In women, estrogen circulates in the bloodstream and binds to estrogen receptors on cells in targeted tissues, affecting not only the breast and uterus, but also the brain, bone, liver, heart and other tissues.
Avatar f tn Hi - When I was tested I'd been off T4 for 2 months/taking no thyroid hormone replacement at all, but for 8 years prior to that had been taking Levothyroid (T4) daily. I'd suspected adrenal dysfunction and wanted to get this test done before taking meds again. Prior to that, I'd tried the other meds mentioned in my previous post. I've never had free T3 or free T4 tested in the past so don't have any reference ranges to compare to for those.
Avatar f tn Why don't oncologists periodically check the hormone levels of estriol, estradiol, estrone and progerterone for those of us on these drugs? Why is it that we all get the same dosage for years and the only thing checked for is CA 27-29? Wouldn't it make more sense to check the hormone levels and adjust the dosage or frequency of taking these drugs accordingly? Maybe if this were done fewer women would have to put up with so many side effects.
6322039 tn?1380727998 Anyway, I was started on bioidentical hormone replacement therapy almost one month ago, using an Estradiol patch, Estriol suppositories and progesterone orally. I have noticed an alleviation of my menopause symptoms such as the migraine headache and hot flashes but since my thyroid levels are still not where they should be, I haven't been feeling well yet. I've heard this can take some time, so I'm willing to be patient.
Avatar n tn The ultrasound was normal and the AFP and hCG levels are fine. However, the estriol is substantially low. The genetics doctor that gave the results simply said that at 37 years old this result means that my wife has a risk of 1 in 93 of having a baby with Down Syndrome. She recommended doing amniocentesis, which we are not really wanting to do. The internet can be a dangerous thing though, as I have now been trying to understand this better and what I am reading is really scaring me.
Avatar m tn I have ovaries but uterus and fibroids removed. Suffering hot flashes, memory loss, and most annoyingly: insomnia in middle of night. Also belly fat, occasional vaginal dryness. Confused whether I need estriol bio identical from Naturopath or estrogel from GP? Each poo poo's the other. Also dont know how to determine if I need progesterin (despite Uterus removed) or testosterone. Who in Toronto tests these levels and what should I specifically ask to be tested for.
Dog Can you buy vaginal estriol cream without a prescription? If so do you sell it ?
Avatar f tn Hi, Please let me know if you're still reading this thread. I have some thoughts on this but the problem I have it I start writing and I don't seem to know how to stop writing... :) I end up posting the same information over and over and so if you don't mind checking my profile and finding my "posts" section, you could start reading some of the appropriate posts starting with the most recent ones (at least since 2008).
209987 tn?1451935465 Estriol therapy 2 milligrams of estriol is the most commonly prescribed amount. However, from what I read don't take it every day, but instead copy Nature’s pattern with a monthly pause. An important study, this one performed in Israel, investigated how estriol might work to prevent cancer. The researchers found that estriol interferes with the pro-carcinogenic effects of estradiol by covering as many of the body’s estrogen receptors as possible, so that not as much estradiol can be absorbed.
Avatar f tn estriol is an estrogen produced by both the fetus and the placenta Inhibin-A:The quad screen is a maternal blood screening test that is similar to the Triple Screen Test (also know as AFP Plus and the Multiple Marker Screening). However, the quad screen looks for not only the three specific substances evaluated in those tests (AFP, hCG, and Estriol) but also a fourth substance known as Inhibin-A.
Avatar n tn Hi Kim, I'm so sorry I did not see this post of yours from almost 2 years ago. Did all go well for you? Let me know if you have any questions. I was able to find an HRT therapy that is working well for me. I use oral estradiol (.5 mg - I used to use Vivelle Dot .05, but my body stopped absorbing it, so I changed to the oral type) and a compounded bioidentical progesterone cream (1 mg.
Avatar f tn Hi, In August I had a cortisone shot for ITBS tendonitis. It caused me to get a period that lasted 10 days. I had my yearly check-up at the Obgyn and they had a transabdonimal sonograph performed just to check. My results came back with endometrium measuring 1.0cm in thickness and homogeneous. I have been on homeopathic estriol vaginal creme for 5 years ( 2mm 3 x's per week). The Obgyn wants to do an endometrial biopsy to rule out hyperplasy or cancer.
Avatar f tn Which are better? I'm on injecctions, 1ml of progesterone a day, and 0.2 estradiol every 3rd day. But I've seen many web pages that say the jelly is better...vaginal suppositories? That they provide a higher pregnancy rate. is this true?
Avatar n tn John Lee (which lately has come under great scrutiny) were backfiring on me big-time. So, does Estrogen dominance really create a problem? or is it the decline in estradiol and the rise in Progesterone that causes all the problems when we our ovaries were functioning???? OK... so, we may never have all the answers in my lifetime, but I am going to do all that I can to have a quality of life that does not have me in tears every time I have to take a step....
Avatar f tn Estriol 0.5mg. capsules in organic olive oil in veggie caps. This is not a commercial pharmaceutical. It is a compounded bio-identical hormone. Directions: Insert one capsule vaginally at bedtime. Have your doctor order it from Women's International Pharmacy. Phone: 1-800-279-5708. They will send it by mail. They are located in Arizona. Estriol is the safest of the three types of estrogen. To be even safer you can also take some bio-identical progesterone with the estrogen.

374593 tn?1257879950 I always thought that the estradiol was to make sure your lining was thick enough for implantation. Because I now the drugs like clomid can thin your lining making it impossible for the egg to implant. I could be wrong though.
