Avatar f tn Hi, everybody. I've been experiencing hot flashes, hair loss, irregular periods, and dry eyes for several months. I had my hormone and thyroid levels tested twice, and, while everything technically came back normal, my estradiol (52 pg/ml) level concerns me. I've read that anything below the 50 pg/ml mark is not a good sign. Is this true? Does this number suggest that I'm in the early stages of premature ovarian failure, or are there other causes of low estradiol?
Avatar f tn Poor Liz, I sympathize. I also lost about 1/2 my head hair as well as most of my pubic hair and 1/2 my eyebrows during the 5 years I went to a (female !) Endo who told me I was " just getting older" and (because I had a lot of long curly hair) that most women would "kill for hair like" mine. The hair loss, as well as the 34 lbs. of full body cellulite I gained while left unmedicated, really affected my self-esteem and sexuality.
Avatar f tn insomnia, constipation/bloating, hair loss on head, new hair growth on face, intense premenstrual cramping and lower back pain, low libido, dryer skin, and just last night I had my first night sweat. I also now have chronic dark circles under my eyes and have noticed more brown spots on my face. I've had a ton of different hormones tested, all of which have been within normal range, and "good" according to my doctor. My thyroid is normal. My day-2 FSH is 5.8.
Avatar n tn I was wondering if anyone here has levels of FSH and LH like I do. I did some blood work at my doctors office mid cycle, almost eactly mid cycle and here were the results: Estradiol: 478 pg/ml Estrogens: Total 558 pg/ml FSH: 0.7 L (mlu/ml) LH: 4.9 mlu/ml Progesterone: 1.8 ng/ml Testosterone: 87 ng (slightly high) I have extremely painfull periods and have been unable to concieve for a couple years.
Avatar f tn shortness of breath and very defined breathing (worse when tired or on exertion);heart palpitations;hair loss;dry, grainy, irritated eyes;clumsiness;sensation of lump in throat (fluids to help swallow food);loss of appetite;suspected thoracic outlet syndrome; have also had trouble with not producing oxytocin during labours and breastmilk never 'came in'. All symptoms come and go. The fatigue is there all the time, but varies in intensity. Blood tests were all taken over a month ago.
Avatar m tn I was put on Estradiol 1 mg. did well for one year. Then started getting severe hot flashes and facial hair growth, wasn't sleeping well either. So, I took it upon myself to stop the Estradiol. Oh my goodness, what a huge mistake! I lost HUGE amount of my hair, went to hospital twice because of labored breathing, nearly everywhere I touched my arms Id have bloody bruising, sleep was only dozing, that list could goes on. So then, I went to bio-identical hormones.
Avatar m tn many hormones play a role in gynecomastya, the main three are testosterone, estradiol and prolactine, regarding the testosterone you should have a healthy testosterone to estradiol ratio, estradiol E2 (estrogen) is a very important hormone for bothe genders and its very supportive for your immune system, your bone structure your emotions and even your sex drive but it should always be in a right balance with testosterone, if it was imbanced it will cause many troubles including gyno.
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm not sure this is the right place for this question, but I'm sort of desperate. I've been experiencing hot flashes, hair loss, dry eyes, and irregular periods for about eight months. I'm only twenty-four, so these symptoms have been worrying me quite a bit. I visited my doctor in June, and he ordered a thyroid test. My results were completely normal. I shrugged everything off to stress and went on with my life. Unfortunately, the hot flashes became worse.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your reply. She doesn't have any hair loss (other than normal moulting) and no swelling anywhere. She was x-rayed before treatment began and I was told that she didn't have cancer. She was spayed shortly after her first season as she is a rescue dog and we didn't want to breed from her although she is a pedigree dog. I will discuss her treatment in light of what you have said with the vet when he sees her later this month for her routine blood checks for her thyroid.
Avatar f tn I'm desperate to find help for multiple symptoms that I feel may be thyroid related. I moved to a different state across the country 20 years ago and I have yet to find a good endocrinologist who specializes in thyroid diseases such as Graves- consequently, for the last 20 years, my health has been spiraling down & out of control. I had severe Graves disease & had a thyroidectomy leaving 2gr in '75. I've been on 125 mcg Levothyroxin for many years.
Avatar n tn Hi there, well firstly I'm not sure how old you are and of the exact ranges you have for Estradiol. But here in the UK an estradiol of 23 on day 3 of your cycle shows you are past perimenopause, and either in menopause or post-menopausal. I myself am undergoing a premature early menopause and my estriadiol is the same. Also it would be useful if you could let me know what your FSH was, as this is the main indicator for menopause assessment.
Avatar n tn I have all the symptoms for Hypothyroidism (except low libido). I have had these for several years. i.e.
Avatar f tn m in my late 30s - the first month I was tested, my estradiol was 374 and my FSH 5.2. The next month my estradiol dropped to 87 and my FSH increased to 10.1. I'm at a loss of whether I should keep trying or just say that a baby isn't in my cards. Anyone else heard of estradiol dropping hundreds of points in a single month?
Avatar m tn s nice to actually be warm on occasion. The hair loss is terrible. I have dark hair and fair skin so it is pretty noticeable and coupled with the weight gain I am having serious self esteem issues. I'm also immensely fatigued. This is not new but is intense. I've also started waking up early and can't get back to sleep which is only making the fatigue worse. Not sure if there is any other relevant information but please let me know if anything else is important.

881571 tn?1326904278 m asian decent, I may be having excess hair growth but less hair follicles. Most of what I read online suggests losing weight. But i know that very little fat can also affect fertility! I'm 5'4 & 120lbs. Anyone else who has PCOS but doesn't fall into the "typical" symptom category?
787406 tn?1339203183 I also started having memory problems and stuttering trying to find words two weeks before the EEG was done, which also started after the finger thing feeling in the hair and brain and the loss of focus. these last 10 to 15 minutes. The ones with blind spots are usually only there 1 to 3 minutes. I have been to 2 neurologist and they can't seem to come to a decision. First one did a EEG and said I had a focal over left and right temporal lobe with the left being the worst, MRI was normal.
589713 tn?1255699571 She sent me a great link about a doctor from New York, a Doctor Redman, who works with women on Hair loss. His info on Estradiol/testosterone is very, very interesting. He uses estradiol to treat women who have hair loss issues. He is not quick to blame just testosterone. It is about the ratio and the adrenal glands. But, google to find it if interested.
355049 tn?1272256388 I pray that its not cancer or anything remotely serious, but its obviuosly something. He has also lost a lot of hair for 22 yrs old. his hair on the top of his head is almost completely gone. We have tried to get him to go to a doctor. Now he say's he is goig to go on June 10th. I was hoping to find some kind of info first. Thank you all for your time and responses.
Avatar f tn In some cases, there is a need to treat the underlying cause for resolution of the hair loss. Take care always.
