Avatar m tn Estradiol is one form of estrogen and is (or at least used to be) considered HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) although some refer to it as ET (estrogen therapy). There is estrogen-only HRT and combined (estrogen plus progestin or progesterone) HRT. Women who have a uterus who take HRT must take progestin or progesterone if they take estrogen in order to protect their uterine lining from the proliferative effects of estrogen.
Avatar n tn Please have a conversation with your Doctors about this. The first diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer is the most important, in my honest opinion. Please please research this before making a decision in your treatment. Please. And best wishes to you and your family. This isn't an easy road but you can do it. :) HER2/neu (also known as ErbB-2) stands for "Human Epidermal growth factor Receptor 2" and is a protein giving higher aggressiveness in breast cancers.
Avatar n tn The National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), in their breast cancer guidelines, has issued the following criteria for determining if a woman is likely post-menopausal: 1. At least 60 years old. 2. If less than 60 years old, the woman has stopped menstruating for 12 months or more in the absence of chemotherapy, tamoxifen, toremifene or other hormonal treatment to suppress the ovaries, AND blood levels of FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) and estradiol are in the post-menopausal range.
Avatar f tn Keep in mind that HRT has been proven to increase the chance of Breast Cancer. If absolutely necessary these drugs should be used at the lowest dose possible and for the shortest time possible. Regards .....
Avatar f tn The last six months I started getting my P every month for 3 weeks! My doc first prescribed me an estrogen (Estradiol) pill and told me to take it when my P was longer then 10 days. Well that didn't work. Two months ago he put me on the patch. A new patch every week. It worked the first month and I got no period at all (which is what he told me would happen) now I'm starting to bleed again. I'm so frustrated and I'm worried that it's gonna be another month long period.
1651832 tn?1301690605 Hi, It's been awhile since I've written anything about Estriol. It was touted as the next great thing about 10 years ago. It was used (and probably still is) in Bi-est, which is an estrogen combination of Estradiol and Estriol that you can usually only pick up from a Compounding pharmacy. It was big in Europe (as I recall...) but it was because it was tougher to get it here in the US and the push to use mostly or only Estradiol was not as prevalent at that time.
Avatar n tn Estrogen doesn't cause breast cancer but it does feed it. If estrogen was the cause of breast cancer more young women would be being diagnosed with it when their estrogen levels are at their highest. Most diagnosis are made in post menopausal woman. There is one theory of thought that it may be estrone that really feeds breast cancer. Estrone is what our fat cells produce after menopause. Estradiol is what our ovaries made in our 20's and 30's.
Avatar f tn I am going to schedule to have the Implanon removed. I had considered both of the IUD's and am not comfortable with the idea. I have family history of breast cancer and ovarian cancer so birth control with high estrogen really isn't an option for me either. I will probably end up on birth control pills because my doctor doesn't recommend the mini pill which I loved when I was breastfeeding.
594914 tn?1245263684 Hey what is the purpose for estrogen meds. My Doc put me on them and he said he wants me to start them next month if my cycle comes.... What good does this do for me?
Avatar f tn I had both ovaries and uterus removed and am no longer on any form of estrogen, which I only took for 1 1/2 yrs. I had been cancer free for 6 1/2 years until the breast ca development.
Avatar m tn many hormones play a role in gynecomastya, the main three are testosterone, estradiol and prolactine, regarding the testosterone you should have a healthy testosterone to estradiol ratio, estradiol E2 (estrogen) is a very important hormone for bothe genders and its very supportive for your immune system, your bone structure your emotions and even your sex drive but it should always be in a right balance with testosterone, if it was imbanced it will cause many troubles including gyno.
Avatar f tn I have premature ovarian failure and took estradiol for months and it has made me crazy depressed, along with many other symptoms, it has ruined my life. You are not alone! It changed my brain chemisty, now doctors and family think I am crazy, when before I was the calmest, rock of a person you could find. I say again, you are not alone, hang in there and search for answers!
Avatar f tn My mother took Tamoxifen for 5 years after her second breast cancer. She lived for 14 more years, dying at 80 of undiagnosed ovarian cancer. Undiagnosed because she was SO stubborn and would not be examined for some symptoms that were pointing to that disease. All told, she lived for 27 years after her first breast cancer.
355049 tn?1272256388 Its close to the middle of his chest on his right breast. He told me it has been there for about a year maybe a little less. He says nothing or no one has hit him there. So I am lost as to what it could be. I pray that its not cancer or anything remotely serious, but its obviuosly something. He has also lost a lot of hair for 22 yrs old. his hair on the top of his head is almost completely gone. We have tried to get him to go to a doctor. Now he say's he is goig to go on June 10th.
616307 tn?1221083801 Unfortunately, there is no silver bullet or 100% conclusive tests for breast cancer. Each test has its own benefits as well as limitations. The anatomical procedures, such as mammogram, ultrasound and MRI can image the internal structure and results of any disease or dysfunction, such as leision (structure). Thermography can provide imaging regarding physiology, such as angiogenisis (increase in vascularity) which is the process in which cancer grows.
Avatar n tn A 2006 review article stated the opinion that not enough information is available, and that even if isoflavones have mechanisms to inhibit tumor growth, in vitro results justify the need to evaluate, at cellular level, the impact of isoflavones on breast tissue in females at high risk for breast cancer.
Avatar f tn These drugs are primary prescribed to prevent osteoporosis, but are associated with lower risk for invasive breast cancer, and in some cases, lower risk for recurrence of BC, as well as being used to treat bone mets.
1402412 tn?1300388224 She has had multiple surgeries, chemo, radiation over many, many years. Currently she also has breast cancer as well. I suspect that her breast cancer will make her sick before her recurrent granulosa cell tumor does. my second patient has had granulosa cell tumor for over 10 years.I am watching a small spot on her bowel and on her liver without treatment.
807129 tn?1245273527 Anyhow, she was recently also diagnosed with breast cancer (when it rains, it pours!), and she had a mastectomy. However, they did find some malignancy in her lymph nodes. My dad is worried about making a decision of how/whether to pursue treatment. He's worried about getting the advice from the oncologist and neurologist on the same page; whether anything with the MS will make it riskier for her to go through the treatments, etc. Does anyone have any insight/information on this?
Avatar f tn i just wonder what could be caiusing the headaches and breast soreness and also i have depression and on meds for it but its seems my mood is worse since starting the estradiol and promitrium....i have called dr and she is trying to help me but i dont think estradiol is for me..
Avatar f tn Hi, everybody. My name's Kristin. I really, really hope someone here can help me. I'm terrified. I'm twenty-four, but for the last eight months or so, I've been having menopausal symptoms. My doctor had my FSH, LH, progesterone, and estradiol levels tested twice. Here are my results: FSH first test: 6.2 second test: 6.8 LH first test: normal apparently, but I didn't see what exactly it was second test: 7.
Avatar m tn I have had 4 abdominal surgeries in my life and have lots of scar tissue in the area. My Mother had cervical cancer when I was young and has been fine for years BUT two years ago she was diagnosed with breast cancer and went through treatments and then they found ovarian cancer which has spread and she is not doing well and has stopped treatments. My doctor, who I trust and who did my last surgery, recommends a hysterectomy for me with my problems and Mothers history.
Avatar n tn My estrogen level is 1140 which has me very concerned why it is this high. I do take estradiol 2 mg, but from what i have researched with HRT it should not be higher than 340. Does this mean it could be caused from ovarian cancer or are my labs just out of whack because of estradiol dose being too high??
Avatar m tn The doctor started talking to her about symptoms, which could be cervical cancer or ovarian cancer. Yesterday they did a biopsy on her cervics and told to come back in 2 weeks. Shouldn't they be doing more test in the mean time, (x-rays, cat scans, ultra sounds)?
Avatar n tn You should do a cycle day 2 o3 FSH and Estradiol to measure ovarian reserve when you are not breast feeding The other numbers are not helpful. That being said, you are 41 and therefore the chances of getting pregnant are lower. If you are interested in having another baby I would immediately stop breast feeding and try to get pregnant. If there is no success after 3 months I would do see a Reproductive Endocrinologist and Infertility specialist who specializes in infertility.
