Common Questions and Answers about Estradiol for acne

Avatar f tn I was on a triphasic pill for years (Tri Sprintec). It was good for keeping acne under control (which is why I originally went on it at age 20). But in the last few years I began suffering from extreme fatigue, lots of water retention, vaginal dryness, etc, and as all my tests were normal my PCP suggested the pill was causing it. I went off the pill completely 4 months ago and about 2 months after started experiencing extremely oily skin and massive hair shedding, among other things.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed Estradiol to help with excessive bleeding for my periods and when I took it for 10 straight days my face cleared up almost 100% for the first time in 10 years. I was over the moon happy until my gyno said I could not be on Estradiol long term and she would not prescribe me anymore. Instead she prescribed me a pill contraceptive Yaz (on top of my implant) this makes me nervous but she said it's ok. I am devastated, please if anyone can help please.
Avatar f tn The DHEAS was the one I was looking for. When you look around for optimal range for DHEAS, I found the following link and info. http://www.lifeextension.com/magazine/2006/5/report_blood/Page-02 OPTIMAL RANGE OF DHEA IN WOMEN* Standard Reference Range Optimal Range 65-380 µg/dL 350-430 µg/dL *Measured as DHEA Sulfate So that info suggests that your DHEAS is lower than optimal.

647365 tn?1292472212 Can someone please tell me what is a normal estradiol level for a HCG trigger and ovulation? Was on Menopur 225 iu. for 9 days pre-trigger. My level was 225 - 4 days before iui. Day of iui I had 4 follicles - 2 at 17.5 mm, 1 at 15, and 1 at 14. My RE thought 3 were mature. My progesterone level 5 dpiui was 23.63. Thanks for any info.
727136 tn?1231182664 I am 5 years post total hysterectomy - abdominal due to adhesions/cysts/endo, etc. You name it, I had it. My left ovary was enlarged to size of grapefruit, wrapped around my ureter and the artery nearby, then that was all plastered to my left pelvic side wall. I opted for total hys due to endo, etc. I have 1 happy, healthy boy - he's almost 10! Anyway, the Dr.
Avatar f tn Start of my third week suppression, i was given a shot of gonal f for 225 ui for 5 days, after my lab test, estradiol is low and follicles are not present. dosage was increase to 375 ui for 3 days and still, estradiol is low and no follicles seen. doctor advised to cancel the ivf due to abandon cycle and try next cycle again with an increase dosge of 450ui. Why is it that my body is not responding to gonal f even though the dosage has been increased? Is there a problem?
Avatar f tn I have premature ovarian failure and took estradiol for months and it has made me crazy depressed, along with many other symptoms, it has ruined my life. You are not alone! It changed my brain chemisty, now doctors and family think I am crazy, when before I was the calmest, rock of a person you could find. I say again, you are not alone, hang in there and search for answers!
Avatar m tn Hm, very good question and I can see why you question that. https://www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-5186/estradiol-oral/details. Femoston is the brand name of estradiol. And I don't see it used in that way. For heavy periods, it's not uncommon for girls to be put on birth control. But this one? Weird choice it appears. Some birth control pills use estrogen to decrease period issues and prevent pregnancy. But Femoston seems to be used more for peri menopausal and post menopausal women.
Avatar m tn You need to get your hormone levels checked from a gynecologist and if they are low then you may need to take hormonal treatment or oral contraceptives for some time till the hormone levels come back to normal. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
374593 tn?1257879950 I always thought that the estradiol was to make sure your lining was thick enough for implantation. Because I now the drugs like clomid can thin your lining making it impossible for the egg to implant. I could be wrong though.
Avatar f tn How long after a confirmed pregnancy are you suppose to continue taking Estradiol? Just read on the internet that it can cause birth defects and I can't reach my doctor to confirm this.
Avatar f tn One of the causes for high TBf is a low ratio of Progesterone to Estradiol. In order to assess that please post the measurement units shown on the lab report for those. At any rate you need to get your Free T4 and Free T3 levels high enough to relieve symptoms. In addition, your Vitamin D is much too low. It needs to be at lest 50. Your ferritin is also low. It needs to be at least 70. So you need to supplement to optimize those.

Avatar n tn I am on 200 mg prometrium /5 mg estradiol, and metformin as well as tirosint. The prometrium and estradiol is for hot flashes. The metformin for prediabetes, couldn't get my a1c down, and tirosint for thyroid disease. My question is this...the prometrium and estradiol are causing my blood sugars to stay high, as well as make me very tired, as well as making me gain weight. I walk briskly at least 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour daily. I watch what I eat, low sugars, etc.
Avatar f tn Clearly defined cutoff values for normal are not well established. We like to see the day 3 estradiol less than about 80. We repeat borderline or abnormal results in another menstrual cycle to try to get a "true" FSH. There is some evidence that an elevated day 3 estradiol indicates a problem with ovarian reserve.
216278 tn?1308861082 Hi! I am 2dpo and I started an Estradiol patch today to wear for the next week and a half. Of course, I am starting to second guess everything (typical start of my tww) Does anyone know if this could raise my estrogen TOO much, thus hurting my chances for pregnancy? I have posted a picture of the graph of my hormone levels when they did the full panel and I put the numbers in a journal to correspond with it!
Avatar n tn It is hard to predict. The higher levels of estrogen may promote the midcycle LH surge, which is what urine OPKs look for. If this happens, the surge might come a couple of days earlier. This is called positive feedback. On the other hand, the higher estrogen levels my inhibit LH (this is called negative feedback) delaying the surge. You will need to test for ovulation to find out.
Avatar f tn Dear Hopeful, I can't respond specifically to your concerns about the Estring but hope somebody will. I take two high blood pressure meds that are metabolized through the liver but the benefit outweighs the risk. My hepatologist thinks it's a non-issue. That doesn't mean he has the last word but we made a practical decision . It's not because I'm not his wife that he's 'nonchalant' but that he had to juggle my competing health needs and prioritize them.
Avatar f tn I want enough estradiol in me to make sure I can string a sentence together, avoid depression, have a sex drive, have better word retrival, have strong bones, less moodiness, have good heart function, no cramping in legs (the worst when I am low in my estradiol)... no foot problems (yes... when estradiol was too low for a few years...bad doc's advice... yuk,... I ended up having to have surgery on both feet).. no joint pain... I could go on and on and on.
402702 tn?1325887812 before i left the dr gave me a script for estradiol and told me that my cervic liner was a bit thin and they like it to be a little bit thicker when iui's are the treatment and that my blood work was going to be reviewed and then i will get a call to let me know the dosage that i need to use for the gonal and let me know if i am to start this script... well i go a call and they called my cell and left a message just stating the gonal and nothing was mentioned about the script estradiol...
