Common Questions and Answers about Estradiol during pregnancy

Avatar f tn Crinone vaginal gel, intramuscular progesterone, and Prometrium capsules are natural progesterone preparations which are safe to use during pregnancy. In woman with recurrent pregnancy loss heparin and baby aspirin are helpful to keep open the blood vessels in the placenta. Steroids may also be helpful since they act by inhibiting the cellular immune response. The duration of treatment depends on your particular situation.
Avatar f tn Correct, its presence indicates a pregnancy. I didn't know it was necessary to create a pregnancy, I thought it was an offshoot of pregnancy (I was told it is produced by the placenta). Some people take it in order to lose weight, but that would be a weird thing to do to someone trying to get pregnant (or support an early pregnancy). How much does the hCG cost? Do you get an itemized list?
Avatar f tn I am not sure why your doctor selected the medications he/she did -- there can be many reasons including cost and availability in addition to the indications for which the medications are prescribed. MANY doctors prescribe Estradiol during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, and it seems that is what your doctor is going for.
Avatar n tn I have read that you should stop DHEA with a positive pregnancy test, but am wondering if anyone has continued on a low dose during pregnancy. Due to my very advanced maternal age, I am afraid to stop the DHEA completely since I needed the supplement to get pregnant I think I may need it to help maintain the pregnancy. Anyone know if it is safe to continue DHEA during pregnancy if the doctor monitors blood levels? My day 3 levels on 6/5/09 were good: Total Testosterone 55.
Avatar f tn How long after a confirmed pregnancy are you suppose to continue taking Estradiol? Just read on the internet that it can cause birth defects and I can't reach my doctor to confirm this.
Avatar n tn first of all CONGRATS on the BFP : ) are you still having pain on that right side?? it could be a cyst or just your body reactin to the changes.. I hear a lot of people talk about twinges when they are pregnant.. Ectopic pregnancies woulnd't be having pain typically this early, and the fact that your Beta doubled also makes that less likely.. GOOD luck and keep us updated!
Avatar f tn We did IUI last month but it was unsucessful. All levels are normal except estradiol which was above 80. Up untill two months ago she had LH surge every cycle. Now all of the sudden nothing. Last month no surge on opk but on ultrasound she had a good follicle so we did the IUI. Has anyone had success with preg when estradiol is high? If so we would love some advice.
374593 tn?1257879950 what exactly does it do during pre-ovulation time? they always measure it at the dr's office right before they trigger me.. this time they said it was a little low, but thats to be expected with the femara (since it blocks estrogen production) Anyone know what that can do if its low? THANKS SO MUCH!
Avatar n tn To know if Progesterone was the problem, it would need to be tested during the pregnancy around the time that you are miscarrying. your first two losses took place after the placenta has normally taken over producing the hormones and your corpus luteum cysts (which have been producing your progesterone to this point, and are producing the progesterone measured during your luteal phase) have started to dissolve.
1134811 tn?1284550821 The change in cervical mucus I did not notice. However my doctor prescribed estradiol at the same time with my 150mg of Clomid. The estradiol helps to create more of the beneficial ewcm. I also did the 150mg of Clomid with no IUI. The side effects at this high of a dose were terrible for me though... Ugh!
594914 tn?1245263684 More specifically, the estradiol and estrone forms are produced in the ovaries, while estriol is produced by the placenta during pregnancy. In women, estrogen circulates in the bloodstream and binds to estrogen receptors on cells in targeted tissues, affecting not only the breast and uterus, but also the brain, bone, liver, heart and other tissues.
Avatar f tn I am currently taking Lupron and Estradiol leading up to my IVF. I am having awful headaches and some nausea with the estradiol. Did anyone else experience this and does it go away? Thanks!
Avatar m tn //www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-21091-656/drospirenone-ethinyl-estradiol-oral/ethinyl-estradiol-drospirenone-24-4-oral/details Please do not experiment with birth control. The chances of pregnancy from this event remain extremely low, for all of the reasons I mentioned in my first post. There is not a lot I can add to that, nor can anyone give you hard numbers.
Avatar f tn Ranges can vary a bit by lab. However, they should not be radically different. Estradiol, estrone, and estriol are forms of estrogen with estradiol and estrone being the primary (and maybe only) systemic forms of estrogen. My lab's ranges show a max non-pregnancy and non-menopausal value of estradiol to be 498 pg/mL and estrone 268 pg/mL. Estradiol can exceed 4300 in the first trimester of pregnancy. And post-menopausal levels are less than 54 and less than 65, respectively.
Avatar f tn I did not get pregnancy during the treatments, but good level of Prolactine and LH for day 3. During Dostinex treatment, LH for day 21 was 5.5, but the following day my period came. I have some painfull days - 2-3 during my period and sometimes a very little bleeding (1-3 days) 1 week before my true period. During Dostinex treatment my period is 22-23 days. Without Dostinex/ Bromocriptin the period is not regulated 25-27 days, with 1-2 periods a year shorter, 1-2 longer - 30-45 days.
Avatar f tn I was told it is unlikely this pregnancy will result in a baby. Due to slow raising numbers. She is now 13.
Avatar f tn I had PCOS problem 3 years back but now my periods were normal, I also had a history of a miscarriage and tubal pregnancy along with a successful pregnancy.

1651832 tn?1301690605 Hi, It's been awhile since I've written anything about Estriol. It was touted as the next great thing about 10 years ago. It was used (and probably still is) in Bi-est, which is an estrogen combination of Estradiol and Estriol that you can usually only pick up from a Compounding pharmacy. It was big in Europe (as I recall...) but it was because it was tougher to get it here in the US and the push to use mostly or only Estradiol was not as prevalent at that time.
216278 tn?1308861082 I am almost 37 years old and doing a hormonal profile this month (b/w every other day, basically!!) I had Estradiol draws pre-o, and now Estradiol and Progesterone draws post-o! On Peak +3, my Estradiol was 70 (went from 104 to 323 to 70) and my progesterone was 5.8. It is only 3DPO, but I am trying to get an idea of whether it's a 'good' number or not - Any help will be appreciated!!!!
865758 tn?1285952904 My endo ran the estradiol and testosterone during ovulation because the estrogen level is suppose to rise during this time. This time it came back again at 42. Does this help?
Avatar n tn Hello, You should be tested for premature ovarian failure which would involve checking a FSH, LH and estradiol level on day 3 of your menstruation. You'll want to have your thyroid level checked as well. An ob/gyn or endocrinologist can evaluate you for this and based upon the results give you some insight into whether you should be worried about your symptoms. Best regards, Dr.
Avatar f tn In the past three days my beta increased from 186 to 534, but my progesterone and estradiol both dropped. Progesterone went from 93 to 73.3 and estradiol went from 520 to 503. Should I be concerned? I'm 15 days post-transfer. Thanks.
Avatar f tn My doctor said that estradiol my help thicken mucus and help with pregnancy...first of all...it has killed my sex drive..I know I'm on a small dose, but i just looked up side effects and it said BIRTH DEFECTS PREGNANCY CATEGORY X. Why would he give me something like that when I'm ttc??? I've only taken three doses, but I'm stoping it. I didn't have a test come back and say that my E-2 levels were low or anything.
