Common Questions and Answers about Estradiol dosage forms

Avatar f tn Estradiol, estrone, and estriol are forms of estrogen with estradiol and estrone being the primary (and maybe only) systemic forms of estrogen. My lab's ranges show a max non-pregnancy and non-menopausal value of estradiol to be 498 pg/mL and estrone 268 pg/mL. Estradiol can exceed 4300 in the first trimester of pregnancy. And post-menopausal levels are less than 54 and less than 65, respectively.
Avatar m tn Estradiol is one form of estrogen and is (or at least used to be) considered HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) although some refer to it as ET (estrogen therapy). There is estrogen-only HRT and combined (estrogen plus progestin or progesterone) HRT. Women who have a uterus who take HRT must take progestin or progesterone if they take estrogen in order to protect their uterine lining from the proliferative effects of estrogen.
7649183 tn?1393014236 Menostar (estradiol transdermal system) 14 mcg per day - each 3.25 cm2 system contains 1 mg of estradiol. Vivelle-Dot® (estradiol transdermal system), 0.025 mg/day - each 2.5 cm² system contains 0.39 mg of estradiol USP for nominal* delivery of 0.025 mg of estradiol per day. Since the Menostar patch is applied once/weekly and contains 1 mg of estradiol, then that's around .14 mg/day (the data says .014 mg/day). The Vivelle-dot is applied twice/weekly and contains .
Avatar f tn Start of my third week suppression, i was given a shot of gonal f for 225 ui for 5 days, after my lab test, estradiol is low and follicles are not present. dosage was increase to 375 ui for 3 days and still, estradiol is low and no follicles seen. doctor advised to cancel the ivf due to abandon cycle and try next cycle again with an increase dosge of 450ui. Why is it that my body is not responding to gonal f even though the dosage has been increased? Is there a problem?
Avatar f tn 2 mg soft capsules along with the same dosage of estradiol for next 9 days. She told me that I am suppose to get my periods within 3 to 7 days after I finish this medicine. Today is the 14th day but still I did not get my periods. I want to ask what can be the reason. I had PCOS problem 3 years back but now my periods were normal, I also had a history of a miscarriage and tubal pregnancy along with a successful pregnancy.

402702 tn?1325887812 before i left the dr gave me a script for estradiol and told me that my cervic liner was a bit thin and they like it to be a little bit thicker when iui's are the treatment and that my blood work was going to be reviewed and then i will get a call to let me know the dosage that i need to use for the gonal and let me know if i am to start this script... well i go a call and they called my cell and left a message just stating the gonal and nothing was mentioned about the script estradiol...
Avatar f tn Since your FT4/FT3 numbers have dropped over the last two years, why is the doctor reluctant to increase your dosage. Dosage is irrelevant, only the physiological effects are important. Seems the doctor should be wiling to get your FT4/FT3 back to prior levels. Also your D is a bit lower than recommended, which is 50 minimum. Your B12 is adequate, but your ferritin should be at least 100. Have you ever been tested for cortisol?
Avatar f tn Was wondering why I am itching all over. My dr. increased my dosage from 1 mg to 2 mg. Could this increase have something to do with my itching?

Avatar f tn t absorbing it which would imply that your symptoms are from the loss of your ovaries and not the estradiol itself. I am also on estradiol tablets but I don't take mine orally. I either insert them vaginally or let them dissolve between my cheek and gum (transbuccal). And I use a higher dose of 1mg. My Rx is for 2mg but since I don't take them orally / swallow (no first pass through the liver), I cut them in half and only take 1mg. The use of only 1/2 pill makes it dissolve faster too.
2002523 tn?1327612787 I've been on a 91-day pill for a couple of months now. I'm 42 and started the pill to help regulate my heavy periods, shrink my uterus and possibly manage my polyps. After the first four weeks, my period couldn't be suppressed, showed up with a vengence and I think I'm on the other side of the massive bleeding and tissue breakdown. My gyn instructed me to double my pills (twice daily) until the bleeding stops completely. I've been on the double dosage for close to five weeks.
Avatar m tn SRI drugs are not real mental health treatments, except at a very low dosage; otherwise they cause more harm than benefit to mental health. Depression can and should be treated with over-the-counter soluble magnesium (which blocks the NMDA receptors that create the sensation of depression) and/or bupropion (a dopamine reuptake inhibitor), whereas OCD can and should be treated with the glutamate release inhibitor riluzole.
Avatar f tn My doctor mentioned that while in menopause, it is common to need more thyroid hormone replacement since I have no thyroid to compensate. Since I am taking estradiol and progesterone and seem to be doing much better since it was adjusted three weeks ago, could I possibly need less armour than I did before?
Avatar f tn This was my first IVF cycle but my ovaries did not respond well at all to Gonal F 225 IUs and my Estradiol level was 41 on my 5th day. So the doctor increased Gonal F to 300 IUs and my Estradiol level increased on my 10th day to 192, but I still only had 3 follies. :( He cancelled this cycle of IVF and wants to go with IUI instead. The chances are slimmer but I do have 3 follies and just maybe one of my hubby's lil soldiers will penetrate one of my stubborn lil eggs.
988694 tn?1332359479 He does not believe in that, and he order some to tests. I went for estradiol test which is 78. Not sure if my estrogen is too low. I will have progesterone test in one more week. My FSH is 8.3 . Anybody experiencing something similar? is my estrogen too low for an ovulating woman? should I go into hormonal replacement (bioidentical)? any input will be appreciated. Thanks.
17008026 tn?1453000615 Hi! During the last six months my weight has increased from ~135 (60 kg) to almost 175 (80kg) pounds. This happens even though my general level of exercise has increased and I just eat approximately 1300-1500 calories a day. I would have asked my doctor about this but he's not very accessible at the moment, and I'm not sure if this is the right place to get an answer to this type of question.
4128244 tn?1350073611 I've read somewhere that estradiol (I'm on the patch) can increase your T4. Has anyone else heard this? Also, that time of day and fasting can affect TSH. I'm going for TSH, FT4, and FT3 tomorrow. Thanks!
Avatar n tn t see any measurable follies until day 7 or so of that cycle. Ended up with one egg that cycle and estradiol level of 250 something. That was a bust cycle. This cycle (only my second one on Follistim) he started me at 150iu a night and BOY did I respond. I have one bad tube so we were only looking at what the good side was doing anyway :) But my estradiol never went down - in either case. They don't seem to be stimming you well at all.
Avatar f tn Hi, Please let me know if you're still reading this thread. I have some thoughts on this but the problem I have it I start writing and I don't seem to know how to stop writing... :) I end up posting the same information over and over and so if you don't mind checking my profile and finding my "posts" section, you could start reading some of the appropriate posts starting with the most recent ones (at least since 2008).
1651832 tn?1301690605 I switched back immediately to the other dosage. But eventually I left the Bi-est to go back to the Patch of Estradiol that I'd been on from 2000 - 2003. And, I'm glad I switched back. I currently use the "Vivelle" patch. I may some day have to switch to a sublingual tablet of bioidentical Estrace which would bypass the liver and has been well-tolerated by some women I know.
Avatar f tn Then I began having severe sweating and hot flushes which I thought were due to not enough Estradiol, so I had two injections of Depo-Estradiol. Then I read that those might be a symptom of too much Synthroid, so I called the doctor's office. The nurse told me to go back to the reduced dosage. It has been 3 days and I am still having mild hot flushes and sweating. How can I tell if the symptoms are due to lack of estrogen or a side effect of the Synthroid?
Avatar f tn After a 9cm Benign Tumor was discovered, I had an Oopharectomy. 1 year later I had a vaginal-laprascopical assisted complete hysterectomy. At that time I think the surgeon took my labido, and did a partial lobotomy and I'd like these back :( It's been 3 years and I don't even feel like the same woman. I do take 1 mg Estradiol each day, otherwise I'd be Phsyco woman, but I'd actually like to 'feel' something...anything!
Avatar f tn In the last year, I would say that the symptoms including hot flashes, have been unbearable at times and have been more frequently and more severly. He has increased the dosage since and where the hot flashes are subsiding, the mood swings are now way out of control. Watching a commercial can literally send me into a complete crying tail spin.
1809377 tn?1316520328 Even so, sometimes they will atrophy about three to six months after a hysterectomy and so you might experience a drop in Estradiol and a drop in Testosterone. If, of course, you have your ovaries removed, then you have lost your ability to create the sex hormones and will most likely choose to use supplemental estradiol and a little bit of testosterone. That's what I have done and it's made a world of difference in more ways than just in the area of sexual response.
