Thanks for the help hate running all these miles and not seeing a difference.
Avatar f tn I have always had to struggle with my weight. I gain weight easily and have a difficult time losing it, even when eating properly and exercising. This of course, has become worse, the older I get. But I have never gained weight as rapidly as I have the last 2 1/2 months!
Avatar f tn Some women complain of gaining weight due to water retention when they take estrogen. I have not personally experienced that. But many women gain weight after hysterectomy too because it changes metabolism even when the ovaries are not removed. How is the lower dose working out?
Avatar f tn I say this because it typically is the Lack of Estrogen that will cause weight gain and not the abundance. On the other hand, since you are also taking progesterone, you may have been out of balance between the two hormones. My other thought is that you may be the type of person who does really well on progesterone without added Estrogen, although the more I research recent studies on this, those people are few and far between.
Avatar n tn I am on 200 mg prometrium /5 mg estradiol, and metformin as well as tirosint. The prometrium and estradiol is for hot flashes. The metformin for prediabetes, couldn't get my a1c down, and tirosint for thyroid disease. My question is this...the prometrium and estradiol are causing my blood sugars to stay high, as well as make me very tired, as well as making me gain weight. I walk briskly at least 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour daily. I watch what I eat, low sugars, etc.
Avatar n tn There are medical issues that can cause you to gain/be unable to lose weight -- these include hypothyroidism and insulin resistance, among others. I'd suggest that you get your thyroid tested, as well as your blood sugars...... just so you know, I have both of these issues, so recognize the signs.........
648632 tn?1223819932 I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis two years ago. I am 44 years old, had a complete hysterectomy at 35. I currently take .5 mg of Estradiol and 88 mcg of Synthroid daily. I am active, pay attention to what I eat and am on my feet all day, as I am a licensed massage therapist. I don't understand why I cannot lose weight. I feel lethargic and don't have the get up and go as I should. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?? Thank you for any feedback you can offer.
Avatar f tn My side effect of taking the other remedy was weight gain. I gained 9 kg and now my weight is stuck at one point and is not decreasing. Does anyone have a similar problem?
1651832 tn?1301690605 It was used (and probably still is) in Bi-est, which is an estrogen combination of Estradiol and Estriol that you can usually only pick up from a Compounding pharmacy. It was big in Europe (as I recall...) but it was because it was tougher to get it here in the US and the push to use mostly or only Estradiol was not as prevalent at that time. It was also supposed to be the next big thing regarding protection against breast cancer.

Avatar m tn I have Thyroid problems and PCOS, it depends on what your symptoms are. I had bad skin, cramps, hair loss, headaches weight gain among other things and immediately thought it was my thyroid I went to my doc and had bloods done. All came back with in the normal range. I did a bit more research and went back to my doc and basically made him put me on a low dose of thyroid meds, well within two weeks all symptoms had gone.
Avatar n tn I was very heavy growing up and so I was a bit devastated by this uncontrollable weight gain, but I was eventually able to get a handle on things. I also had to have my thyroid evaluated and have been helped with thyroid meds over the past four years. I knew I probably could not answer your question directly, but wanted to give you some things to think about. There are some very good resources. I think the author's name who speaks to midlife weight gain is Deb Waterhouse???
Avatar f tn A decline in Ovarian Hormones can surely cause UTI's and also a frequency of Yeast infections. You can read about this problem in one of the many books available on menopause or you can find info on some of the websites for some of the Menopause leaders, who also advocate the use of Bioidentical hormones. Dr. Elizabeth Lee Vliet has offered very helpful info. Another good source is Dr. Erika Schwartz. You can google their names to find their websites.
Avatar m tn I went to the doctor to see why I gain weight so easily. I collect allot of fat around my waist and chest and have always had to keep my meals very small. My father went through the same thing and didn't live very long. Died in his 50's. I feel I'm going the same way and would like to explore why this is happening to me. I have eaten healthy all my life, excercise, and do not drink or smoke.. It should be enough.
Avatar n tn Please tell me after afull hysterectomy , does she need oestrogen and progesterone, or one or the other. She was on oestrogen patches with no joy , now on oestrogen tablets and the weight gain and bloating is making her very unhappy , the doctors say the weight gain is nothing to do with the operation..that is the biggest load of codswollop even i have heard.
Avatar f tn My side effects are as follows severe tinnitus, phelgm in my lungs and coughing, high blood pressure, weight gain, high cholesterol, positive ANA test boderline lupus numbers, high hscrp test, pains behind my eyes, breathing pain issues, low grade fever, forehead pain, stuffy nose like allergies...all of this has been since I started hrt which was right after my surgery. Before my blood pressure was 110/70 now runs high 155/95 at times. Blood pressure spikes all the time.
Avatar f tn Most lose due to the metobolism speeding up and with your weight gain your doctor and you may want to look at progesterone/estradiol and testosterone levels very close to see if you have a pattern there that could be causing these issues to rise. Also where is the weight gain? Is it a pooch belly fat? That then, should be a sign of looking at some adrenal issues first too - before assuming its all thyroid related.
Avatar m tn weight gain, increased appetite, hair loss, gastric problems, hyperactivity and behaviour problems. Carbamazepine or Tegretol, on the other hand, is effective against generalised tonic-clonic and partial seizures. The side effects associated with this include: blurred vision, double vision, unsteadiness and nausea dizziness and headaches. Gynecomastia is the development of abnormally large mammary glands in males resulting in breast enlargement.
Avatar m tn s out there called Cyclical or Epidodic which would account for the weight gain and low T. Low cortisol does not cause weight gain or low T. High cortisol does - so adding more cortisol would actually make you worse. However, since you have a gonadal issue, you may have another issue - maybe genetic or delayed puberty which may be a pituitary issue. I think you need to find a good endocrinologist. Adding supplements willy nilly may make things worse and interfere with testing.
Avatar f tn Can a normal sized cyst on one overy cause a distended stomach and weight gain?
Avatar f tn But, I was very heavy growing up and carried a lot of Psychological baggage from those days. I lost a ton of weight in college and kept it off for years and years.....and once I hit Perimenopause, the weight battle started again and it was a battle. I was not prepared for another battle after my hysterectomy. I have had to chose to look at this as a "Non-battle" if you will... only because if I start thinking negatively about it all the time, I am doomed.
Avatar f tn There was no change in eating habits or in activity. She has continued to gain weight unintentionally since then and has gained over 40 lbs now. She has a round face and she doesn’t look like herself anymore. She is moody, nauseous, hot all the time, and of course, a little depressed. I started out taking her to a GYN in October 2010. They said they felt she looked good and asked why I wanted her to start her period so much.
Avatar m tn Low testosterone has lots of effects like fatigue and weight gain. It can also make it harder to lose weight. So my metabolism may not be the most important thing right now.
Avatar n tn The most common side effects associated with Tamoxifen are hot flashes, vaginal dryness, nausea and weight gain. These are less commonly seen with intake of aromatase inhibitors like Aromasin. Women who take Tamoxifen are also at an increased risk (compared with aromatase inhibitors) of developing blood clots which can travel to other organs and cause complications like pulmonary embolism or stroke.
Avatar f tn You should evaluated by your history such as determine if and when you have pubic hair, determine if and when you had breast development, determine your weight and height and exercise history, and eating habits such as anorexia. You should be checked to see if you have a uterus and ovaries by pelvic exam and ultrasound.
