I had a total hystrectomy at 30, now 43 I am going thru Menopause, I have already gained weight in my belly and hormones are crazy, now my doctor wants to put me on Estradiol, will it make me gain more weight?

I have gained about 8 pounds and I am freaking out! I have been extremely co scoops of my diet and etc. my doctor suggested we lower the dose to the .375 to see if it will help! How long will it be before I see the weight come off?

The last six months I started getting my P every month for 3 weeks! My doc first prescribed me an estrogen (Estradiol) pill and told me to take it when my P was longer then 10 days. Well that didn't work. Two months ago he put me on the patch. A new patch every week. It worked the first month and I got no period at all (which is what he told me would happen) now I'm starting to bleed again. I'm so frustrated and I'm worried that it's gonna be another month long period.

I am on 200 mg prometrium /5 mg estradiol, and metformin as well as tirosint. The prometrium and estradiol is for hot flashes. The metformin for prediabetes, couldn't get my a1c down, and tirosint for thyroid disease. My question is this...the prometrium and estradiol are causing my blood sugars to stay high, as well as make me very tired, as well as making me gain weight. I walk briskly at least 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour daily. I watch what I eat, low sugars, etc.

It was used (and probably still is) in Bi-est, which is an estrogen combination of Estradiol and Estriol that you can usually only pick up from a Compounding pharmacy. It was big in Europe (as I recall...) but it was because it was tougher to get it here in the US and the push to use mostly or only Estradiol was not as prevalent at that time. For menopausal reasons and especially at your age, I am glad to see your doctor gave you estradiol and only that (no other estrogens in the mix). As far as the patch goes, use trial and error if you have problems with it sticking. Also, sometimes if you are exercising frequently, you may be metabolizing the estradiol rather quickly, so keep a list of symptoms as they occur so that you can share this info with your doctor in case a dosing change has to be made.

The estradiol supresses this mechanism, allowing multiple follicles to mature, and making your chlomid or other drugs a better shot at producing multiple eggs.

My estradiol (E2) needed to be under 80 and it was 226. Because of this I was not a candidate for IVF. I learned this on my 41st birthday. Not an ideal birthday present, to say the least. All this said, tons of women get pregnant over 40 and have perfectly healthy babies. If your RE says you have a good shot then I say go or it!! I wish you lots of luck!!

Well, I took the patch off 2 weeks ago and threw it away, and I have now lost 6 of those pounds and feel much better. I think it was causing depressiont too. I have been on bio-identical hormones for a few years - progesterone cream and DHA cream - and have done fine. I had osteoporosis before the hormone creams but have now reversed it. (still have low bone mass though). I'm worried that the hot-flashes and osteoporosis might recur if I don't take the estrogen. . .

My side effect of taking the other remedy was weight gain. I gained 9 kg and now my weight is stuck at one point and is not decreasing. Does anyone have a similar problem?

t absorbing it which would imply that your symptoms are from the loss of your ovaries and not the estradiol itself. I am also on estradiol tablets but I don't take mine orally. I either insert them vaginally or let them dissolve between my cheek and gum (transbuccal). And I use a higher dose of 1mg. My Rx is for 2mg but since I don't take them orally / swallow (no first pass through the liver), I cut them in half and only take 1mg. The use of only 1/2 pill makes it dissolve faster too.

I need some feedback on my hormone levels since this hormone testing is new to me. I haven't heard from my OB, but this is what my Progesterone and Estradiol levels are according to my family doc: tell me what you think ON CD10 taken February 24 Progesterone level is 0.7 Estradiol level is 1.71 What this means...I have absolutely no clue. I tried reading on it, and it seems as if I should not have tested on CD10. I should have tested on CD 3....is this correct?
