Avatar n tn t build up resistance to it). I was not able to use prometrium because I had bad side effects from it (I felt dizzy and exhausted when I took it). I have hormone testing annually to make sure my balances are right. I feel good on this regimen. About testosterone, I was tested, and found out I had bound testosterone (testosterone that is chemically bonded to a protein called Sex Hormone-Binding Globulin) showing in my tests but I needed more free testosterone so my body could use it.
Avatar n tn I am on 200 mg prometrium /5 mg estradiol, and metformin as well as tirosint. The prometrium and estradiol is for hot flashes. The metformin for prediabetes, couldn't get my a1c down, and tirosint for thyroid disease. My question is this...the prometrium and estradiol are causing my blood sugars to stay high, as well as make me very tired, as well as making me gain weight. I walk briskly at least 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour daily. I watch what I eat, low sugars, etc.
Avatar f tn I am having awful headaches and some nausea with the estradiol. Did anyone else experience this and does it go away? Thanks!

Avatar n tn put me on 10 days of Prometrium. I had few side effects, fatigue, dizziness and some nausea. After the 10 days on the pill I am supposed to get my period and on day 3 of normal mentration return to the clinic for lab work to diagnose polycystic ovaries. It's been 7 days and no period yet. My breasts hurt and I'm nausous now that I'm NOT taking Prometrium. Wondering if these are normal post medication symptoms or if I might actually be pregnant.
Avatar n tn The good thing is that you missed the estradiol and not the prometrium. Estrogen stays around in the body much more than progesterone does. My estrogen was in twice-weekly shots, and when I asked my doctor why they prescribed that I take them Wednesday evening and Sunday evening (clearly not exactly the halfway point in a given week, it was an every third day, every fourth day schedule) I was told there was still residual estrogen from the last shot even by the fourth day.
691236 tn?1311199974 I had my trigger shot yesterday at 9am. My doc prescribed estradiol, prometrium (both in pill form) and progesterone suppositories for the next 2 weeks until my pregnancy blood test. Anyone else on these and do you know why? My doc just said my hormone levels were very low and he wanted to me take these to sustain the embryo if it does implant. Any knowledge/expereinece you have is greatly appreciated! Thanks girls!
Avatar f tn A number of 80 seems very high for your age...I wonder if there could be another reason for the high number. I'm not really familiar with what is normal when going through premature ovarian failure; but in general, normal levels are between 3 and 20, with 20 being very hard to stimulate. If I were you, I would ask your doctor for a referral to an RE (reproductive endocrinologist...or fertility specialist).
Avatar f tn A much better product for me with a lot less side effects. It did delay my cycle recently and once I got a negative BETA, I stopped taking it and 24 hours later my period started. I am now on cd 4 and will ovulate sometime after cd 10 is my guess!
Avatar f tn HI everyone I am 3 weeks pregnant and my doctor said my progesterone levels are low and prescribed Prometrium for me to take vaginally until I am 10 weeks pregnant, I am worried because I read up on the drug and there seem to be some serious side effects. Can anyone share their experiences with me?
Avatar f tn I am taking Crinone gel for infertility, have been taking for 4 months days 17- end of cycle. I am also taking clomid and estradiol. I am currently on day 23 (7th day on crinone) of my cycle and have started having so very mild almost pinching cramps intermittently. They are not painful, but I was just wondering if anyone else has cramping with crinone, I am still about 8 days away from when I am supposed to start my period.
621803 tn?1302888341 ) and the nurse I talked to said that I was supposed to stay on the estradiol and prometrium until I was 8 weeks. I mentioned that estradiol says it can cause birth defects and to not take it if you become pregnant. She said I was ok because my levels were low to begin with. Well, I found out today (after calling to check a second time) that she has "left" the fertility clinic. Now I'm worried.
Avatar f tn I think up to 12 weeks. Keep in mind that they have to disclose possible side effects. All these fertility drugs have crazy side effects......why is it that this is the only one noticed.??
Avatar f tn Wow, actually, I had no side effects from Clomid as well, and I had u/s where they saw one mature follicle developed and then trigger shot and then IUI...so I guess I ovulated.. and my lining was good but I guess they still give you that prometrium pill just to keep lining good..
453798 tn?1262633421 Hormones have all sorts of side effects. The weird thing is my side effects change each time I am on them. The estrogen has made me nausiated once - even on a low dose. I guess this is why every pregnancy is different. My AF was a little delayed but I think that it was because it takes a few days to get those higher doses of hormones out of your system. You can't start until the levels drop to a certain low level.
Avatar f tn The side effects of Incurin (estradiol) are similar to the effects of any other reproductive hormone therapy and include: hair loss, swollen vulva, swollen mammary glands, and vomiting. The most serious effect from high doses is that estrogen (the active ingredient in Incurin) may have a tumour-promoting effect in target organs with estrogen receptors, such as the mammary gland. The most dangerous effect of PPA (phenylpropanolamine) is hypertension.
Avatar f tn My doctor mentioned that while in menopause, it is common to need more thyroid hormone replacement since I have no thyroid to compensate. Since I am taking estradiol and progesterone and seem to be doing much better since it was adjusted three weeks ago, could I possibly need less armour than I did before?
Avatar f tn //www.mayoclinic.org/drugs-supplements/estradiol-transdermal-route/side-effects/drg-20075306 However, most women really tolerate it pretty well. The half life of this is pretty short meaning it washes out of your system pretty quickly too.
Avatar f tn This is my first month on Clomid, 50mg cycle days 3-7. I was also on Estradiol cycle days 8-12 and am now on progesterone suppositories cycle day 17 until I get my period or a positive pregnancy test. I had an HCG trigger shot 10,000 units (Profasi, Pregnyl) on cycle day 15. This is also my first month using fertilityfriend to chart my basal body temps. I have attached a link to my chart so that you can see my progress.
Avatar f tn Doctor put me all kind of fertility medicine such as Clomid 100mg, Femara, Estradiol, Prometrium, Repronex, Follistim.. We tried and tried and nothing happen. We even tried 2 IUI and not success.. In April the doctor told me take a break and he will perform laparoscopic surgery on 04/17/09. We will try again in June 09. The surgery went fine. Everything inside of me look good inside and nothing stopping me not to conceive... The major factor is my age..
398459 tn?1262186144 -( The doc now has me on 5 days of prometrium, I think to facilitate a period and start the whole process over. Anyone know about prometrium being used to facilitate a period? How many days later should it start? Any side effects? Thanks for the help.
1272624 tn?1395434357 HI Mel, Cramping is normal, are you taking Prometrium? I always had lots of side effects, felt preg, so I switched to Endometrin which has less side effects. My side effects with Prometrium was bloating, cramping, sore breast, etc. I think you should take two, one every 12 hours, because with only taking one, my AF does arrive, but taking two, it stays away like it is supposed to. Then you have a beta and if beta negative, you go off of progesterone and af arrives in 1-2 days.
Avatar f tn I'm taking prometrium (200mg) once a day at bedtime post ovulation. I should be 9 or 10 DPO. I've been taking it 9 days. I know that taking this can cause pregnancy symptoms, but my question is: does it build up and intensify as you take it day after day. Ex: my breasts are larger but the tenderness has been very mild, then disappeared, until last night. They were very sore on the sides mostly last night, but then this mornng they are tender all over.
