Estradiol and estrone

Common Questions and Answers about Estradiol and estrone

Avatar f tn Estradiol, estrone, and estriol are forms of estrogen with estradiol and estrone being the primary (and maybe only) systemic forms of estrogen. My lab's ranges show a max non-pregnancy and non-menopausal value of estradiol to be 498 pg/mL and estrone 268 pg/mL. Estradiol can exceed 4300 in the first trimester of pregnancy. And post-menopausal levels are less than 54 and less than 65, respectively.
Avatar n tn I recently read an academic article that warned that so called "natural hormones" (also called bio-identical) are really no different than man-made hormones. I also read another article that said that the only symptoms that are proven to be linked to menopause are hot flashes and vaginal dryness.
Avatar n tn I am thinking of adding a supplement with the arimidex (broccoli seed extract - a natural aromatase inhibitor) and monitoring estradiol/estrone with blood tests after starting the supplement. If there were a negative interaction between the arimidex and the broccoli seed extract, how accurate would the blood test's estrogen results be?
Avatar n tn And, it was honest. I so often feel the same way. I take estradiol (the only estrogen to use in my opinion) and Testosterone. My husband has been trying to get to the root of some problems that have caused a huge lack of desire... we think it is related to Sleep apnea and he will be tested... yeah! But, when I mentioned this to my doctor, he said, "Oh, you don't need the testosterone, then.
594914 tn?1245263684 estrone, estradiol (the most abundant) and estriol. Overall, estrogen is produced in the ovaries, adrenal glands and fat tissues. More specifically, the estradiol and estrone forms are produced in the ovaries, while estriol is produced by the placenta during pregnancy. In women, estrogen circulates in the bloodstream and binds to estrogen receptors on cells in targeted tissues, affecting not only the breast and uterus, but also the brain, bone, liver, heart and other tissues.
Avatar m tn i started to investigate whether there is something wrong or not.at some point i stumbled upon estradiol and estrogen.i had an estradiol level of 85 and an estrone level of 256 with upper limit of 50 and 155 respectively.my testosterone levels were normal.total t 9.5 and free 24 with upper limits of 12 and 50 respectively.!my platelets were lower than normal but never below 100k.also, red blood cell count were most times higher that normal even though i have anemia(MCV<80).
Avatar n tn It seems that the amount of Estrone your body pumps out is not always enough and so the body makes more fat to make more estrone and this is where the cycle seems to continue. Lifestyle seems to play a big hand in all this. Diet, exercise seem to matter even more at this point. The question I have always wondered about is how women who do not take hormones manage their lives. Is it such an individualized thing to need a higher level of hormonal help?
Avatar f tn Women who use the Vivelle patch or Climara patch are using estradiol supplementation.... Estrace is also Estradiol and it is a bioidentical form of the estradiol so that it mimics completely the Estradiol that the body used to make in abundance during the reproductive years.
Avatar n tn the menopausal estrogen our body makes and not as friendly an estrogen as Estradiol, which is what our bodies make when we are in our 20's. But the thought is that without ovaries, the body cannot utilize progesterone as was once thought. Examples of this type of estrogen in its bioidentical form include Climara and Vivelle at various doses. Having said that, there is also a school of thought that the only thing needed is Estradiol and very little progesterone..
Avatar f tn I have been helped by cutting out the Progesterone and just using testosterone and Estradiol. You can find more information on this from Dr. Vliet and any of her great books. Other problems include vaginal atrophy and dryness, all of which can alter the position of the ureter. I, for one, refuse to stand upside down to finish urinating, but I have had to do that from time to time.
Avatar m tn Low vit D, A1C creeping up, very high good and bad cholesterol, crazy high estradiol and high estrone, (was on oral estradial) low cortisol 7-9am and 10-12pm, high melatonin 3-5 pm and 2:30 to 3:30. I stopped the estradiol, have been taking many supplements for a year since these tests to support adrenals and thyroid support complex, plus prometrium to balance out the high estrogen.
Avatar n tn I have come to strongly believe that our bodies do need estrogen (specifically estradiol, which is what we use, Cherie, by virtue of using the Vivelle, although estradiol can be used in cream form and in a pill, but I am not familiar with the pill form). One local doctor says that our bodies 'Crave' estrogen. Our bodies will make estrogen from the fat in our bodies if the ovaries are not there.. or are not producing enough to meet the demands our body requires.
Avatar f tn and, Estrone, which is considered The Menopausal Hormone (and not necessarily a good one). Estrone is another of the 3 used in Tri-est and this is the one made from our fat cells once we enter menopause and particularly if we're not supplementing our body's need for estrogen because the ovaries are the primary source for Estradiol and if you've had surgery to remove the ovaries then your source of supply is gone. Checking levels is good.
Avatar f tn Well, I took the patch off 2 weeks ago and threw it away, and I have now lost 6 of those pounds and feel much better. I think it was causing depressiont too. I have been on bio-identical hormones for a few years - progesterone cream and DHA cream - and have done fine. I had osteoporosis before the hormone creams but have now reversed it. (still have low bone mass though). I'm worried that the hot-flashes and osteoporosis might recur if I don't take the estrogen. . .
Avatar n tn feet problems were huge this summer when my Progesterone was high and Estradiol was low. I had problems walking and I have always been active. Leg cramps and fuzzy thinking also topped the list. It should not have to be this hard! I totally second the Vote on Dr. Vliet. I found her work last Spring and honestly, that woman has given me my life back.
1651832 tn?1301690605 Hi, It's been awhile since I've written anything about Estriol. It was touted as the next great thing about 10 years ago. It was used (and probably still is) in Bi-est, which is an estrogen combination of Estradiol and Estriol that you can usually only pick up from a Compounding pharmacy. It was big in Europe (as I recall...) but it was because it was tougher to get it here in the US and the push to use mostly or only Estradiol was not as prevalent at that time.
Avatar f tn I had a 6 cm fibroid removed on 3/11 of this year. I was prescribed premarine for 45 days and estrone for 7 days after that. I was told I would have a period thereafter. Well it has been 14 days no period.....I am also worried that I may be pregnant too soon ( we where told to wait 6 months to ttc.) Should I be worried? Is it normal?
Avatar n tn These are specific blends to each individual and they have got to be properly balance for the individual to maintain wellness and ward off disease and counter act with human progesterone and testosterone for balance. I am not on HRT nor have I had surgery - but recently I was found estrogen dominant by specific labs that aren't commonly used. I am still in the beginning stages of balancing progesterone and estrodiol to maintain my wellness.
Avatar n tn Will this help with the Adrenal, Estrone and Progesterone? Since I am increasing my Armour Thyroid, should I wait and retest the Adrenal, Estrone and Progesterone to see if these have changed before adding any type of therapy?
Avatar f tn after all of my reading, I believe at that time I was in metabolic shutdown and that is why my thyroid failed....I did NOT FIGURE THIS OUT at the time and NEITHER DID MY DR and PRESCRIBED 15MCG OF CYTOMEL TWICE A DAY AND .25MCG OF SYNTHROID...I HAVE NOW BEEN ON BOTH FOR ALMOST TWO YEARS. Then...a few months ago, I noticed a fat gain again...so I know an unhealthy decision, but I started taking meltdown (fat burner) twice a day and started two a day workouts to try to shed the fat...
Avatar f tn 25 grams of Estrogel produce a maximum serum level of only 46 pg/mL estradiol and 64 pg/mL estrone. Many women need higher levels than that. Plus these are maximums so levels can get much lower before applying another dose. I think that is part of the reason the patch did not work for me. I was "bottoming out" toward the end of the patch life (every 3-1/2 days). HRT is so individual and it can take a bit of trial and error to find the best one for you. Hope this helps!
