Escitalopram and sleep

Common Questions and Answers about Escitalopram and sleep

lexapro

Avatar f tn Also you may want to ask your doc about taking a Benadryl to help you sleep. It makes people drowsy and a friend of mine takes two every night to help her sleep and it doesn't interact with any medications. Or ask your doc about a sleep aid to take not regularly but when you know you need to get a good night's sleep. Hope those suggestions help.
Avatar f tn Hi I've been on wellbutrin for a few years but my doctor just added escitalopram (Lexapro ). I've been on it for five days now and I'm extremely tired I can't stay awake but can't sleep at night at all. I feel very weak and there was two days that I had tingling. Is this normal? Does the tiredness go away? I can't function like this.
Avatar n tn A paranoid schizophrenic patient who are taking escitalopram daily was sleeping 12 hours daily, then when he started using computer and sleep less about 7 hours daily, he started to have vivid dreams that are about matters that always bother him like constipation, his hateful brothers, his future losing of his money or apartment. could shifting in sleep duration and using of computer lead to these dreams, and as for these dreams are they good signs or bad ?
Avatar n tn Just wondering if anybody here has ever taken Domperidone and Escitalopram. It says in the Domperidone leaflet not to take the two medications together, and some quick research online says there is a severe interaction between the two medicines. Despite this my doctor has prescribed them both to me. 30mg of Domperidone a day + 20mg of Escitalopram a day. Should I consult with my doctor about this or will I be fine? Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn I think in part one of the problems with many meds is that while they help us relax our minds, they do it by playing around with our minds and how they work naturally, and this can affect sleep quality, such as interfering with REM sleep. Doesn't always happen, don't know how often it happens, but it happens. The longer you take a med the more your body relies on it. It is what it is.
Avatar f tn 5 mg of Mirtazapine, which helped me sleep and made me feel calmer, but I slept too long (13 hours on the first night) and was unable to do anything the next day due to fatigue. I later discussed with the doctor the possibility of starting with a lower dose of escitalopram in the form of drops, so starting with 1 mg per day, the lowest possible dose in principle. But I still experienced the same side effects as with 5 mg, albeit slightly less intense. After five days of hell, I stopped again.
Avatar m tn Right now I'm on apo-escitalopram and apo-trazadone but I like zopiclone over the other one and I have some left over from a past prescription. Is it dangerous to make the switch?
Avatar f tn m on day 4 taking cipralex after switching from escitalopram my question to you all is my anxiety is getting worse by the day and having to take a zopiclone to sleep at night will my anxiety slowly fade in time as I take the cipralex daily no other side effects to report just the heightened anxiety any info on this would be great Thanks Jessica
Avatar m tn I suffer from anxiety, as well as sleep apnea, and have been prescribed Escalitopram to help with the anxiety. However, the anxiety seems no better and I am having increased problems with falling asleep. I am wondering whether I should stop taking it but when I asked my doctor she suggested doubilng the does to 20mg daily to get a proper therapeutic dose. I do suspect that it is contributing to the nmsomnia however. Is this a known side effect?
Avatar f tn Suggest continuing to work on your anxiety disorder and as you make progress expect your sleep to improve. Ask also about using a CBT sleep training program as a permanent, sustainable, and substance-free solution.
Avatar f tn told me to use Melatonin for sleeping. It is a natural sleep aid. I take 10mg at night an hour before I sleep and that works for my terrible insomnia. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Hello, I need help to understand how this antidepressant work for anxiety and potentially will lower my HR/BP.
Avatar m tn Basically escitalopram is the new citalopram with less side-effects and requires only half the dosage and I think it is the reason for it's cheaper price. -http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar f tn my problem is that i cant fall asleep because of palpitations... my heart keep beating whenever i try to sleep and get some rest. I feel afraid of exams and of fail. i tried beta-blockers but they make me feel numbness in my extremities ... my blood pressure without any medications is 110/70... so, should i continue on beta-blockers or it is better to try an SSRI "escitalopram"?

Avatar f tn Hello and welcome to the forum. Thank you for your question. Questions regarding medication are best discussed with your doctor as they prescribe the medication and know your particular situation. What is your specific issue with insomnia? Rozerem seems to be best used for those who don't fall asleep easily. Is that your situation? It works on melatonin and is not supposed to be habit forming which is a great benefit. https://www.medicinenet.com/rozerem/article.
Avatar f tn I deal with the same thing it drives me crazy. Last night i had a hard time sleeping i had really bad stomach ache and i was getting really bad chest pain right near the heart so it always gets me anxious that there's something wrong with my heart. I was prescribed anti depressants for anxiety (escitalopram) , but I'm not taking them. Does anyone have any advice on the effects of escitalopram. I've been drinking tea everynight to relax and it seems to help.
Avatar f tn I had to do a fast taper from a cousin of Escitalopram and it was not fun. I was cut down from 20mgs (doctor recommended taper) within three days for a drug study I volunteered for. I realize now that was not the smart thing to do. Try asking your doctor about something like Clonazepam. It's a benzo like Xanax however I found it to be less addicting than xanax--which should only be used for short term. To be honest, I wouldn't try Xanax at all. Don't chance it.

Avatar f tn I have been taking Escitalopram 10mg (aka Cipralex / Lexapro) for 31 days today. For this past week Ive been having repeated very bad morning anxiety/ morning terror. I wake up in a state of panic, palpitations, difficulty breathing, hot flashes, feeling of extreme terror, and I'm afraid to start my day. This sometimes continues for 3-4 hours and improves gradually if I take my Seroquel 100mg. But some days it continues until I go to bed.
