Avatar f tn After many years of Anxiety/Depression and many different types of anti-depressants ...i have recently been prescribed Escitalopram 5mg. I was wondering if anyone had taken this medication and were the results good/bad/indifferent.
Avatar m tn Thank you Jennifer, I have consulted a psychologist, he has advised Escitalopram 5 mg per day and will revisit in a couple of weeks.
Avatar f tn I don't know if your doc has discussed with you Xanax or something like it to take when you have a severe bout of anxiety. I use it and it works very well with no side effects. Take it as needed. It can be slightly addictive. The docs have me on it 3 times a day, but because I need it and am not on anything else at the moment.

Avatar f tn And I have been on the generic form of lexapro for anxiety and depression. My doctor made me get off of it 2 years ago with my last pregnancy and now i know once I tell him I am pregnant again it'll be the same response from him that I need to get off of my pill. Even though I will be a mesa without it. Any ladies on here on lexapro /escitalopram and pregnant?
Avatar f tn t have good experience with meds(Zurcazol caused me manic episodes - suicide thought once and Buspar - made me feel like brain was broken) anyhow I was explaining these issues to a friend and the intrusive thought came again accompanied with burning on top of head. Is this anxiety symptom??
Avatar f tn According to what I have read, the drug should have been out of my system after just one week but I am still experiencing mental anxiety and racing thoughts that I never had until I started on the medication. Before the pills, I only had physical symptoms that my doctor thought were anxiety related. It feels like taking those pills set something off in my head. I have been to other doctors and am seeing a therapist now but I want to see if the drug could still be affecting things?
Avatar m tn I decided to go to psychiatrist and so she saw severe anxiety and gave me ssri antidepressant escitalopram which made me a lot worse, my heart rate was 90-100 even when i wanted to go to sleep. Now she wants to put me on mirtazapine and i just can't understand how it can work because its serotonin and norepinephrine reuptaker, so how it will reduce my anxiety if i will have more norepinephrine in my blood, i thought they will block it, not increase it.
Avatar m tn Escitalopram is an oral drug that is used for treating depression and generalized anxiety disorder. Chemically, escitalopram is similar to citalopram (Celexa). Both are in the class of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), a class that also includes fluoxetine (Prozac), paroxetine (Paxil) and sertraline (Zoloft). SSRIs work by affecting neurotransmitters in the brain, the chemical messengers that nerves use to communicate with one another.
Avatar n tn But as your stress and anxiety decrease, your heart rate in the resting mode may go back to normal. A resting heart rate of 50 is in the normal range. You are on a low dose. Hope it helps your anxiety/panic. I have found that often anxiety takes a bit higher dose to really work well.
Avatar m tn The R-enantiomer present in citalopram counteracts the activity of the S-enantiomer, thereby providing a possible basis for the pharmacological and clinical differences observed between citalopram and escitalopram.
Avatar n tn Just wondering if anybody here has ever taken Domperidone and Escitalopram. It says in the Domperidone leaflet not to take the two medications together, and some quick research online says there is a severe interaction between the two medicines. Despite this my doctor has prescribed them both to me. 30mg of Domperidone a day + 20mg of Escitalopram a day. Should I consult with my doctor about this or will I be fine? Thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn The medication that you are on is from a class of drugs called Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (or SSRIs for short). Lexapro--generic name escitalopram--is a medication that is prescribed for & quite effective at treating depression and anxiety disorders. It is often recommended that anti-depressant agents be continued for a period of at least 1 year, even if you now feel fine, in order to prevent relapse back into a depressive state.
Avatar f tn The only side effects I had on Escitalopram were fatigue and incessant yawning which went away eventually. Those don't sound like common symptoms to me or maybe you should have started with 5 mg like I did. In any case, maybe you and your doctor can decide on another type of medication.
553096 tn?1267348927 t have any of those problems--stress, anxiety, anger and irritability, but my moods are much more manageable with celexa. The SSRI's have been used in the tx of generalized anxiety disorders, which is why I use them, not just for depression. Having generalized anxiety IS depressing! I'm not advocating the use of a/d's for anyone, just offering my own story....
Avatar m tn But we have all dealt with depression/anxiety and do understand, so you have our support, and know we do understand and care.
Avatar m tn 5mg of escitalopram at night and 10mg of Prozac in the morning. The transition was really difficult, but the withdrawal symptoms have gone away. Today the psychiatrist said to stop the escitalopram entirely and just take 10mg of Prozac each day. I am hopeful the Prozac will help her feel more energetic and motivated to do things and most importantly get her to stop thinking about suicide.
Avatar f tn m on day 4 taking cipralex after switching from escitalopram my question to you all is my anxiety is getting worse by the day and having to take a zopiclone to sleep at night will my anxiety slowly fade in time as I take the cipralex daily no other side effects to report just the heightened anxiety any info on this would be great Thanks Jessica
Avatar f tn Is Dapoxetine(not finding) and Paroxetine better solutins for PE and what is the difference in period of ejaculation delay compared to Escitalopram ?
Avatar f tn I deal with the same thing it drives me crazy. Last night i had a hard time sleeping i had really bad stomach ache and i was getting really bad chest pain right near the heart so it always gets me anxious that there's something wrong with my heart. I was prescribed anti depressants for anxiety (escitalopram) , but I'm not taking them. Does anyone have any advice on the effects of escitalopram. I've been drinking tea everynight to relax and it seems to help.
1475202 tn?1536270977 The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved escitalopram as the generic version (or equivalent) of Lexapro®.
Avatar m tn And escitalopram 5mg per day. I took them since. 5. Days. And i want to stop them sholud i take them out slowly or what.
Avatar f tn I am a 42-year-old man who took 20 mg of escitalopram daily from 2018 to 2021 due to a generalized anxiety disorder. I have always had psychosomatic symptoms and tension (I am the child of parents who experienced war). I tapered off slowly over a year, even to drops of 1 mg per day. It went very well. After being medication-free for three months and feeling completely okay, I caught a bad flu around Christmas 2022. Since then, a feeling and mental state has persisted.
