I started taking erythromycin yesterday for tonsillitis. I have taken 3 doses so far. In the past I have had mild allergic reactions to antibiotics....such as amoxicillin and bactrum where I have broken out in hives. Its been almost 24 hours since I started taking the medicine....should I still be worried about an allergic reaction? Would any reaction have occurred already? I have had a headache and slight nausea, is that normal? Any info would be helpful so I can put my mind at ease.

ve also been given a course of antibiotics - erythromycin 250mg four times a day for seven days - for tonsillitis. Only one tonsil was slightly swollen and red over a week, a couple of bits of puss, no pain and no fever - the doctor has not performed a swab test. I have read that the side-effects of this drug are commonly nausea and vomiting and as someone who has a morbid fear of vomiting, I am really reluctant to take it.

Hi there I have a erythrasma rash that won't go away . It is in my groin . So going to the gym is painful walking for long periods is painful and even working long hours is painful . I was on erythromycin for two weeks and it appeared to mostly clear up but then it has come back and won't seem to go away with erythromycin cream and diaper rash cream over top to stop the sweating . I have not had erythromycin for a good two weeks . I use 100% unscented products and I am 209 pounds .
Erythromycin on its own can cause a yeast infection in some women, but I'm not familiar with the other drug and my text books are not close by for a few more days for me to check, sorry I can't be of more help.
My poor husband had his impacted wisdom teeth removed. He has developed a bone infection and now the doctor's office who treated him is backpeddling and saying that he has the "flu." They were the ones' who told him he had the infection to begin with. He is in ALOT of pain, nausea, very tired and overal in pain everywhere. Thank you for the suggestion to use acidophilus. I had never heard of it but will certainly pick some up if my doctor prescribes antibiotics. It must work very well. I assume it's an OTC product.

I have had severe heartburn/reflux for some time, regardless of medication. After a gastric empty study my doctor decided to put me on liquid Erythromycin three times a day, because apparently I was one percentage away from an "abnormal" emptying time. I also have perioral dermatitis and am 24 weeks pregnant. I've had this for 8 yrs or so. It comes and goes and at times is worse than others. Right now it's pretty bad!!! The original things I use do not work and I don't know what to do. I have the redness along with pimples on the left and right below my nostrils and left and right below my lips. It is so ugly and embaressing. Not only am I feeling fat and unattractive pregnancy my face is a mess!!!
my anxiety is through the roof i started taking erythromycin,250mg,been really ill since taking them,read loads of bad reports from them,i have stopped taking them but i am scared that i will have a long term effect off them,i took 7,felt sick,tired hungry the works,has anyone else ever taken this horrid tablet,and if so were you like me on it.
Usually I call my doctor and he prescribes Nystatin however I also have a skin rash that was diangnosed as bacterial in nature and was prescribed Erythromycin. I have not started the treatment yet. Will the Erythromycin work for my thrush? I understand that thrush is fungal not bacterial still i'd like to know.
Erythromycin has similar properties to Josamycin. You should be able to find Erythromycin in London but you probably need a doctor's prescription. Good luck.
After taking amoxicillin (for dog bite to ear) only took them for 2 days as bad stomach upset and weak feeling/pain in arms & erythromycin about 3 to 4 weeks later for pimples on scalp about 4 to 5 days after the stopping the erythromycin due to bad stomach upset (going to toilet 5 to 6 times a day) my wrists went very red and sore (worse on right hand) dominant hand and also my hands constant flushing/hot/sore (could not even but hands in jean pockets so sore)
